Chapter 148 I've Had Enough of Living

At noon, Rong Yan was awakened by shouting and cursing from downstairs.

Huo Shufen came again, this time with Rong Bing.

Rong Yan didn't know how she got into the residential area. She had clearly told the security guards to keep an eye out for her and not let her in. Rong Bing was with her too.

After being detained for several days, Rong Bing was released. She sat in a wheelchair, her face bare, and the arrogance between her brows was gone.

Rong Bing tried her best to play the victim, pitifully pulling at her mother and saying, "Mom, stop making a fuss."

Huo Shufen cursed and pushed her daughter, saying, "You think you're a coward? I'm not! You came out today, did she even go to see you? Where is her sincerity now?"

Rong Bing lowered her head and said, "Mom, let's go back."

“Look everyone, this is my daughter, sitting in a wheelchair. She was a beautiful young woman back then, accompanying Fu Jingsheng for seven years as his fiancée. If she hadn’t been resentful, how could she have ended up like this? Isn’t Fu Jingsheng right? Isn’t the Fu family the culprit?” Huo Shufen has become a regular in the neighborhood.

Rong Yan sat in the courtyard with the gate closed and her earphones in.

The servants were all busy with their own things, and the neighbor aunties, who already knew Huo Shufen, were too lazy to listen to her rant anymore, so none of them came out.

Seeing that no one paid attention to her, Huo Shufen started throwing a tantrum and began to perform on her own.

"Splash!" The woman was still howling on the ground when another basin of water was poured on her. She coughed twice and froze, "Who is it? Are you trying to die?"

Gu Hannian was at home during the day when she heard the ghostly wailing. When she saw it was that woman again, she brought over a basin of cold water and splashed it on her without saying a word: "I'm watering the flowers in front of my sister's house. Who are you? What are you doing lying on the ground?"

"It's you again." Huo Shufen was annoyed that no one was paying attention to her and she couldn't find an outlet for her anger.

She got up and reached out to grab Gu Hannian's hair.

Gu Hannian nimbly stepped back and grabbed her wrist: "Grandma, you're so old, do you still want to fight? Aren't you afraid of breaking your back?"

"Grandma?" Huo Shufen was furious when she heard this and threw a tantrum while verbally attacking her.

"Auntie, did I scold you? Why are you in such a hurry?" Huo Shufen retorted, calling out to Gu Hannian, who was in her early thirties.

This is intolerable!

Gu Hannian threw down the basin, rolled up her sleeves, and went to pull off Huo Shufen's hair ornament.

"Grandma wearing a pink hair accessory, what are you trying to look young for? I'll pull it off for you." Huo Shufen's hair was suddenly grabbed, the sparse hair pulling at her scalp, and the slightest movement brought tears to her eyes from the pain.

She wanted to scratch Gu Hannian's face, but her arms were too short, and she couldn't reach him at all.

Rong Yan, fearing she might hurt him, quickly stepped in to stop her: "Sister, let go! He only has a few hairs left on his head. If you pluck them off, I'll send you a lawyer's letter."

Rong Bing fell to the ground in a panic. She patted her legs, which she couldn't stand up, and watched helplessly as her mother was bullied.

A fight broke out in front of Rong Yan's house, and only then did the neighbors come out to break it up.

Huo Shufen didn't expect Gu Hannian to make a move. After being beaten up, she went home looking disheveled.

The neighbors applauded and cheered.

But this fight cemented their deep-seated grudge.

Gu Hannian's arm was scratched, and when Rong Yan treated the wound, she saw the old wound that had already healed.

A cotton swab soaked in iodine was gently applied to the wound, and Rong Yan's eyes reddened: "Sister, does it hurt?"

Gu Hannian laughed heartily, "What's the big deal about this little bit of skin? I told you it didn't need any treatment, and you even put medicine on it for me."

Hearing this made Rong Yan even more upset. She looked at the wound that had already scabbed over, and saw bloodstains appearing again: "Sister, don't stand up for me anymore."

"Ayan, I'm here. I won't allow anyone to bully you or scold you. I'm fine, I'm tough," Gu Hannian said casually.

Rong Yan's nose tingled, and she hooked her arm around Gu Hannian's: "Sister."

"Oh dear, why are you crying again? I'm good at fighting, but I'm not good at comforting people. Don't cry," Gu Hannian said helplessly.

Rong Yan wiped away her tears and smiled, "Okay, don't cry."

"Alright, I'm going to the store now. Remember to call me if they come again. If they call a few more times, they won't dare to come anymore," Gu Hannian reminded her before leaving.

Gu Hannian left the courtyard and looked back. Rong Yan didn't know why, but she felt that Rong Yan was completely different that day.

After leaving the residential area, Huo Shufen saw her crying daughter and completely lost her temper.

Rong Bing cried as she said, "Mom, why are we the ones who suffer? Even Gu Hannian, who comes from the countryside, can live so well. She opened a milk tea shop in the city."

"A milk tea shop?" Huo Shufen asked calmly.

Rong Bing told her mother the address of Gu Hannian's milk tea shop.

Huo Shufen had an idea.

"She hit me, so I went and smashed up her shop. She's a business owner, how dare she meddle in other people's business? What business is it of hers to interfere in our affairs with Rong Yan?" Huo Shufen said angrily.

"Mom, let's go back first. Gu Hannian is home right now, not in the store. Who are you going to show this to if you smash it up?"

Rong Bing's words made sense. Huo Shufen went home first, but she didn't stop for a minute after she got home. She was preparing tools and figuring out where to start smashing.

The anger, instead of subsiding after half a day, reached its peak.

Gu Hannian happily grabbed Ye Jianming and went to work, excitedly recounting her heroic deeds along the way.

Ye Jianming frowned, a hint of worry in his heart: "Han Nian, I know you're doing this for Rong Yan, but you're easily hurt like this. Don't do anything foolish in the future."

Gu Hannian stopped smiling: "What are you talking about? She's my sister, how can I not care?"

“You don’t only have her now. I’m worried about you. Rong Bing’s family is no benevolent people. I’m afraid they will seek revenge on you.”

Gu Hannian said indifferently, "I'm not afraid of her revenge. I'll beat her every time she comes and pluck all the hair off her head."

Seeing his fearless girlfriend, Ye Jianming tenderly patted her hair and said, "Silly girl, why do you always think about protecting others? You also need to protect yourself."

Gu Hannian said she knew, but Ye Jianming knew that she would be at the forefront again next time something similar happened.

Fu Jingsheng had barely settled into his office when he received news that Huo Shufen had come to cause trouble.

He immediately called Rong Yan, thankfully nothing had happened.

The man hired two people who immediately began guarding the yard.

He was unaware that Huo Shufen had changed her target and was now going after Gu Hannian.

In the evening, Huo Shufen sat on the doorstep. If something happened to Gu Hannian, Rong Yan would be in even more pain. She had been focusing her anger on Rong Yan, forgetting that there were better targets for revenge.

Since Gu Hannian rushed up herself, don't blame her for being ruthless. She's old enough to have lived enough.

Huo Shufen was in a daze for a while, then went back to her room and secretly wrote down her will.

Besides explaining her final wishes, there was a long section filled with accusations against Rong Yan, which, in summary, claimed that Rong Yan had caused the deaths of her and Gu Hannian.

After everything was ready, she made an excuse to go out to buy groceries, but actually went to a milk tea shop in the city.
