Chapter 231 Weak?

The fever persisted for 24 hours without recurrence, and the doctor informed me that I could be discharged after another day of IV fluids.

Rong Yan's stay in this courtyard was practically the same as not staying at all.

When the nurses came to the ward to give injections, they mentioned Fu Yunlei and the others. It had been lively for two days in a row, but they didn't see the children today, and they felt a little uneasy.

Last night, after they left, several nurses were thinking that it was rare to meet such cute and beautiful quadruplets, and they should take a picture together. So they planned to ask the children over in a few days, but Rong Yan was discharged from the hospital after finishing her IV drip.

The nurse felt even more regretful upon learning that they were not from Beicheng and were immediately returning to Tiancheng.

They didn't mention wanting to take a group photo, but Rongyan could tell from their words that they wanted to see some of the children.

Rong Yan called her son to ask if they had gone out to play.

Fu Yunlei, his forehead blocking the entire camera, said: "Mom, we didn't go out. Grandma is making soup. She'll bring you some soup later."

"Okay, are you all coming over?"

“Of course! We helped deliver the jujube pits, so can we say we deserve credit? We made the soup ourselves, so of course we have to deliver it to Mom ourselves. And my sister said we need to say goodbye to the nurses, since we're leaving soon.” Fu Yunlei blinked and asked his mother, “Mom, are the nurses here today?”

"Yes, we're here, waiting for you to come over." Rong Yan happily hung up the phone; the children were quite polite.

Fu Jingsheng was about to go to the cafeteria to pack lunch when he heard his son say that his mother was coming to deliver the food. He put away the takeout box and said, "My mom has been quite proactive these past few days. I've hardly ever eaten a meal cooked by her since I was a child. She's actually cooking for me while we're on vacation."

"Jealous again?" Rong Yan nudged Fu Jingsheng with her elbow. "I'm a patient, thin and small, unlike you who are strong and healthy. People always have more sympathy for the weak, right?"

The word "weak" sounded out of place coming from Rong Yan's mouth. How could one judge whether someone was weak based on their physique?

Fu Jingsheng wanted to say, "Don't let his tall and strong appearance fool you, he's more fragile than Rong Yan," but it would be too embarrassing to say that. He should just show off his strength instead.

“Yes, I’m tall and strong, and you’re petite and delicate. The big one will protect the little one.” Fu Jingsheng patted his wife’s head. “Husband will peel an apple for you.”

The ward door was open, and the old woman next door heard it. She muttered to herself, "If a son-in-law loves his daughter this much, would she need her own mother to come and take care of her every day?"

"Auntie," Rong Yan called out upon hearing the voice.

The old woman came in and asked Rong Yan if Han Yue had arrived. Rong Yan said her mother-in-law would be here soon, and the old woman sat down and chatted with Rong Yan for a while.

Han Yue prepared the meal and took the children straight to the hospital.

I heard that Rongyan was discharged from the hospital in the afternoon, so Xiaobaihe specially bought her a bouquet of flowers on the way.

After arriving at the hospital, the children first said goodbye to the nurses they had met the day before, then chatted with the grandmother and aunt next door for a while before finally returning to their mother's ward and having some food.

After finishing the two IV drips, Rong Yan completed the discharge procedures. Fearing that she might get infected again if she went out before fully recovering, she stayed at the hotel in the afternoon.

The children were clamoring for Fu Jingsheng to take them out to play, but Rong Yan just wanted to rest by herself, so she said to her husband, "Go ahead, take them all, I'm going to catch up on some sleep."

As evening fell, Rong Yan felt the world had become quiet.

But she couldn't fall asleep no matter how hard she tried, her mind filled with the children's laughter and Fu Jingsheng walking back and forth in front of her.

She opened her mother-in-law's WeChat Moments to see if there were any new tourist photos.

Han Yue filmed several videos and posted them online, all with the same caption: "It's rare for the whole family to be together like this. It's a pity my daughter-in-law caught a cold and wasn't there. We'll make up for it next time."

The mother-in-law's camera lens was full of Fu Yunlei and the others. Rong Yan thought of the past when she looked through her mother-in-law's WeChat Moments, which were all photos of her mother-in-law traveling alone.

I don't know when it started, but her focus stopped on herself.

Rong Yan liked all of the newly posted videos.

Halfway up Lingshan Mountain, Han Yue was too exhausted to climb any further, so she sat down on the stone steps to rest.

The four children seemed to have inexhaustible energy, going up and down repeatedly while waiting for their grandmother, until Han Yue said that she would wait for them there and let them go up the mountain.

Xiao Baihe stayed behind to accompany Han Yue, while Fu Jingsheng continued climbing the ladder, carrying four others with him.

They were still a little short of the summit, but the man felt the muscles on the inside of his thighs twitching, and he felt a sharp pain with every step he took.

The children are still running as fast as they can.

"Dad, can't you climb anymore? You're so slow," Fu Yunting asked, noticing his father was slowing down.

Fu Jingsheng's face was contorted in pain, but he stubbornly said, "Of course I can climb. Don't just focus on climbing up, take a look at the scenery along the way first."

"Over there." Fu Jingsheng turned to the side, ready to admire the beautiful scenery along the mountain road, but found that the distance was blocked by tall trees, and he couldn't see anything at all.

"What's over there?" Fu Yunlei asked.

"There are birds over there," the man said awkwardly.

"Dad, hurry up, or we'll miss the sunset. Grandma says the sunset is best from the mountaintop," Rong Shiyu said from above.

Fu Jingsheng dragged his tired body and persevered in climbing uphill, large beads of sweat sliding down his temples.

Finally reaching the mountaintop, the man plopped down on the ground.

"Dad, the sun has set! Look!" Fu Yunting shouted to Fu Jingsheng, jumping up and down.

Fu Jingsheng was panting heavily; he simply couldn't stand up.

"I'll sit here and watch, don't run around," Fu Jingsheng instructed.

Rong Yan was bored waiting at home, so she video-called her husband.

Fu Jingsheng suddenly had the strength. He stood up and answered the phone: "Wife, aren't you asleep?"

"Hmm, I can't sleep. Did you guys reach the top of the mountain?" Rong Yan asked, leaning in front of the camera.

Fu Jingsheng switched the camera: "See that? Want me to give you a live sunset broadcast?"

"So beautiful."

"Mom!" the four children called out upon hearing Rong Yan's voice.

"Okay, don't run around like that, it's dangerous," Rong Yan said, jumping the children in the camera lens up and down.

"Okay." Rong Shimo nodded.

"Fu Jingsheng, sit down," Rong Yan said considerately. "It's tiring to talk while standing."

Fu Jingsheng hasn't slept through the night in the past few days. He also has to take care of her during the day, and now the children have dragged him to go hiking.

"Are you tired?" she asked with concern.

The sweat on Fu Jingsheng's forehead had turned into white salt crystals, but he stubbornly insisted, "I'm not tired, I'm perfectly fine."

"Tch." Rong Yan curled her lip. "Sit down and talk. Standing here makes my head spin from all the phone shaking."

Fu Jingsheng sat down, pointing the camera at the sky. Rong Yan watched for two minutes and learned that her mother-in-law and the others had stayed halfway up the mountain. Fearing that Fu Jingsheng would only be talking to her and wouldn't be able to keep an eye on the child, she hung up the video call.

Fu Yunlei took many photos and sent them to his mother.

As night fell, the group descended the mountain, and Han Yue finally reunited with the main force.

Having rested enough, she stood up and descended the steps much faster.

As soon as they got on the bus, the children started complaining that they were hungry. Fu Jingsheng wanted to go back to rest, but he couldn't stand their commotion, so he sent Rong Yan a restaurant address and told her to meet them there.

The man parked the car, opened the door, stuck out his leg, and fell.
