Fu Jingsheng didn't know why his grandmother was in such a hurry to see him. He guessed that perhaps his grandmother had thought of a clue? So he went home from the company.
Han Yue went out early in the morning, wanting to ask her friends if any of their husbands knew anything about what happened back then.
On the way, the old lady kept asking Sister Liu how to persuade her grandson, as everyone could see the affection between him and Rong Yan.
Sister Liu suggested that the young master consult Master Huang, who might believe what Master Huang said.
Rong Yan and Shen Xingzhi stayed at the coffee shop together, and the group raced against time.
Ye Jianming's hand was about to cramp up. He hadn't rested for several days in a row. Rong Yan told him to take a break, but the man wouldn't listen.
So the group stayed up together.
After the old lady got home and calmed down, she knew she might have a conflict with her grandson. She couldn't get agitated; she had to be patient and gentle, like a spring breeze.
Fu Jingsheng parked his car at the entrance and saw the old lady sitting under the eaves in the distance.
"Jingsheng." Upon seeing her grandson, the old lady waved and asked Sister Liu to push her into the yard.
"Grandma." Fu Jingsheng strode over. "What is it?"
The old lady asked Fu Jingsheng to go to her study to talk.
It seemed to be a company matter. Fu Jingsheng deliberately sent the servants away and pushed his grandmother to the study.
Unexpectedly, the old lady came up and told him to divorce Rong Yan, saying a lot of things about their incompatible birth charts.
Fu Jingsheng tried to reason with the old lady patiently, asking what era it was that people were living in and why she was engaging in such superstitious things. However, the old lady was unyielding and went further and further, even launching a personal attack on Rong Yan, saying things like "jinx" to her.
The man defended his wife: "Grandma, haven't you suffered enough? Are you a reincarnated fish? It's only been a few days and you're already starting again? Don't you think the company is chaotic enough? Or are you afraid life is too peaceful?"
The old lady was already prepared that her grandson wouldn't believe her and would side with Rong Yan. Suppressing her anger, she said self-righteously, "Why don't you two try getting a divorce? If the company is really fine, it means Rong Yan is indeed your nemesis. If not, you two can remarry without any trouble."
"Grandma, this is not negotiable. You don't need to interfere in the company's affairs." Before the old lady could say anything more, Fu Jingsheng left the study and got into the car without looking back.
Seeing her grandson's attitude, the old lady flew into a rage in her study. Sister Liu heard the noise and went in to stop the old lady.
After leaving the residential area, Fu Jingsheng sped away. Once at the company, he called Rong Yan and told her not to go home yet.
Rong Yan only found out after asking that the old lady was nitpicking at home again. When she asked Fu Jingsheng about the specifics, Fu Jingsheng said that she was just looking for trouble and should not get involved in anything that would attract attention.
Hearing the conversation, Shen Xingzhi sighed: "Rong Yan, you shouldn't be soft-hearted. At a time like this, everyone is helping with the company's affairs, but your old ancestor is actually thinking of causing trouble. Send him away. Some old people don't deserve to be old."
Ye Jianming nodded vigorously.
Rong Yan pursed her lips and pondered for a moment before saying, "I understand. Don't let her affect our rhythm. Let's continue. Once this busy period is over, I'll live separately from her."
Shen Xingzhi patted her best friend on the shoulder: "Sister, you must be ruthless. I'll remind you to make a decision when the time comes."
After finishing his call with Rong Yan, Fu Jingsheng went to He Wei's office. Two days had passed since the news broke, and the hype had died down, but Fu's stock price was still trending downward.
He Wei found the best hacker in Tiancheng, but still couldn't find out where Ning Na went after graduation. Some people suspected that the hacker might be dead.
Fu Jingsheng disagreed. He felt that Ning Na was increasingly likely to be alive, and that there was someone even more powerful behind her who had changed all her records.
“Boss, continuing this investigation is a waste of time. The company can’t wait. We need to secure funding first to prepare for the worst-case scenario,” He Wei reminded him.
"The funds are ready. Rong Yan and I have taken out a mortgage together. If all else fails, we can start over." Fu Jingsheng has already begun preparations.
“What if…” He Wei’s eyebrows furrowed when he heard Fu Jingsheng say that the house had been mortgaged. He only got halfway through his sentence, but Fu Jingsheng understood.
The man replied, "You can buy another house if you lose it, it's okay." He comforted He Wei.
In the evening, there was a knock on the office door.
The head of the technical department came over excitedly with his computer: "Boss, I found it."
Fu Jingsheng and He Wei looked up at the same time, their faces showing surprise: "Tell me quickly."
"Ningna did change her name to Linna and stayed in Lucheng for a period of time, but about two years ago, there was no record of Linna's ID card being used."
"Lin Na seems to have vanished from the face of the earth, somewhat similar to Ning Na back then." The technician touched the computer screen and showed Fu Jingsheng and his team the information they had found.
"Is this the photo? Although it's a bit blurry, we compared the eyebrows, eyes, and ear bones, and they match perfectly."
Fu Jingsheng had no recollection of what Ning Na looked like, but the resume on the computer did match.
"Mr. Fu, there's something important. Although Ning Na changed her name, she has no criminal record after graduation. She's done several odd jobs in Lucheng, but she hasn't stayed at any company for more than six months. She's worked as a waitress and a salesperson, none of which seem to be high-end jobs. Does she really have the brains to do so many things?" The technicians suspected they were on the wrong track.
"Someone would change their name just to cover up a stain from their university days? Impossible. If that were all, she could have just moved to another city. There's no need to change her name. And there are two photos that clearly show she's had plastic surgery." Fu Jingsheng's intuition told him that Ning Na was no ordinary person.
Knock knock knock...
There was another knock on the door.
"Please come in," He Wei said.
The head of public relations held up his phone: "Mr. Fu, someone called and asked me to give you my phone."
Fu Jingsheng answered the phone and said hello.
"Old classmate, long time no see." The person on the other end addressed Fu Jingsheng directly as "old classmate."
The man listened carefully to the voice but couldn't guess who it was. He politely said, "Hello, it's been a long time. May I ask who you are?"
"As expected, important people have bad memories; you can't even remember me." The man on the other end chuckled. "Think carefully; we've done a lot together."
When Fu Jingsheng was in school, apart from a few roommates, he wasn't close to anyone else. He had simple social interactions and really didn't know who was calling.
"I'm sorry, has it been too long? Your voice has changed, I couldn't recognize you," the man apologized first. "Are you my college classmate?"
Fu Jingsheng initially wanted to guess Tang Ye, but Tang Ye was abroad, and the caller ID showed the number as originating from China, so it couldn't be him.
The man's laughter grew louder: "Then let me give you a hint: we both liked the same girl."
Fu Jingsheng was even more confused. Was it Rong Yan, the same girl? But everyone at university thought he liked Rong Bing. Could it be Rong Bing?
