Chapter 517 Extra (17) Closing the Door

When Zhao Rong walked over, Ye Jianming had a sudden idea. This woman is so idle every day, why not find her a job?

"Hi! Ye Jianming." Zhao Rong jumped to the man's side. "Someone wears many hats, that's amazing."

Ye Jianming complained that Zhao Rong's sudden outburst had startled him, but a grin spread across his face behind his ears.

"Tch, I wasn't scared at all. I saw you looking up at me when I came from over there." Zhao Rong put her hands on her hips. "Trying to fool me."

"You're really smart, you've come at the right time. I'll treat you to coffee today." Ye Jianming put down his work and led Zhao Rong back to the store.

"Treat me to a drink?" Zhao Rong asked incredulously. This wasn't the first time Ye Jianming had offered to treat her, but she had refused before, so he hadn't brought it up again.

"Yes, it's my treat. If you keep being too polite, I'll really get angry." Ye Jianming threatened Zhao Rong beforehand, afraid she might refuse again.

Zhao Rong regretted her refusal not long afterward. How much could a cup of coffee cost? She shouldn't have been so polite to Ye Jianming. When the man brought it up again, she agreed, "Then can I choose?"

“Of course.” Ye Jianming pointed to the menu. “Anything not listed here, if you can think of it, I can make it. Tell me, what do you want to drink?”

Zhao Rong searched for a recipe for an orange latte on a certain platform, and Ye Jianming made it after just one glance.

Drinking a hot coffee in late autumn warms you up completely.

But after a few bites, Zhao Rong felt increasingly uneasy.

"Ye Jianming, why did you suddenly invite me for coffee?" Zhao Rong stirred her coffee. Unsolicited kindness always has ulterior motives, and Zhao Rong considered several possibilities.

She covered her face and joked, "You, you're not trying to confess your feelings to me with coffee, are you?"

Ye Jianming: ...

“Something seems wrong. Could it be…” Zhao Rong moved her hand away, frowning as she looked at Ye Jianming. Could it be that the coffee shop was going to close down? She knew the customer flow from her regular coffee shop visits. There were only a few scattered people every day. The rent in the city was expensive. Who would do a business that was losing money?

"Are you going to close down? You can't finish all the coffee beans?" Zhao Rong asked.

Ye Jianming's forehead was filled with questions: "What the hell? Why are you closing down? It's just a coffee invitation, why are you making such a fuss over nothing?"

"None of these are right. Is there really no purpose?" Zhao Rong was even more puzzled.

"You have an ulterior motive. Thanks for topping up your card with me, you're one of my big customers, okay?" Ye Jianming rolled his eyes.

Zhao Rong smiled broadly: "I'm relieved it's not a trap." She continued to savor the rest of her coffee.

"Zhao Rong, aren't you bored since you're not at work?" Ye Jianming suddenly blurted out.

"Huh?" Zhao Rong thought she had misheard. She and Ye Jianming had never talked about work.

"Aren't you bored if you don't go to work?" Ye Jianming repeated.

"I work. I'm a live streamer. Let me emphasize, being a live streamer is a profession, similar to being an actor," Zhao Rong said, emphasizing each word.

Ye Jianming had forgotten about this.

"Oh, right, you're going to do a live stream." The man patted his head.

"Do you not like it when I don't go to work?" Zhao Rong seemed to understand.

"Of course not. I was worried you were bored and wanted to find you something to do. Since you're going to do a live stream, just pretend I didn't say anything." Ye Jianming took back what he had just said.

Zhao Rong's appetite was piqued; she was quite curious about what Ye Jianming wanted her to do.

"After Rong Bing resigned, the front desk was short-staffed, right? I figured you were just sitting around doing nothing anyway, and instead of coming here to sit for half a day and drink coffee, you might as well sit in that other spot and get paid. Of course, I know you don't care about that little bit of pay," Ye Jianming said.

“Of course I care, how could I not care? A few thousand is still money.” Zhao Rong became interested as soon as she heard that Ye Jianming wanted her to work here.

"Ye Jianming, do you mean we need to hire another receptionist? I thought you were replacing Rong Bing since she's no longer here," Zhao Rong confirmed again.

"Of course we need to hire another person. How can it be appropriate for a coffee shop owner like me to work part-time as a receptionist providing free consultations?" Ye Jianming wasn't worried about the small amount of money.

"Then hire me. Let's be friends. Salary isn't important. Just give me a cup of coffee and two meals a day." Zhao Rong was fine with doing her live stream in the evening. Ye Jianming was right. Sitting here for half a day drinking coffee was not as good as spending half a day drinking coffee and getting paid.

Most importantly, she has been spending more time with Ye Jianming, and it seems that the two of them will get together soon.

Only a fool would refuse such a good deal.

"Are you kidding? If you agree to come, you have to be here during the day. You can't just do whatever you want and only work sporadically," Ye Jianming reminded him.

"I know, it's not like I've never worked before. I only started doing live streaming these past two years. Of course, I have to follow the rules when I'm working for someone else." Zhao Rong patted her chest confidently. "I can start work tomorrow."

The two of them made the decision so casually.

——

Rong Yan only found out that Ye Jianming had hired a receptionist that evening.

Ye Jianming pays the wages, provides the venue, and of course, he decides how to hire someone without consulting her.

“No problem, it’s yours to handle,” Rong Yan replied.

Rong Bing is in the Northwest and has no plans to return. She can't let Ye Jianming keep taking her place forever.

"Off work?" Ye Jianming asked after receiving Rong Yan's reply.

"Yeah, I just finished."

"Want to have dinner together tonight? I have something to tell you." Ye Jianming wanted to tell Rong Yan about Zhao Rong.

"I can eat, but I'm not the only one. I had originally planned to go out for hot pot with Shen Xingzhi." Rong Yan couldn't eat more than two meals.

"Let's go together." Shen Xingzhi was one of his own, and Ye Jianming wasn't afraid of her knowing about his affairs.

"Okay, see you at Old Beijing Copper Hot Pot." After sending the message, Rong Yan immediately went downstairs to call Shen Xingzhi.

Yu Wenhao was working overtime at the company in the evening.

Fu Jingsheng went to his office twice to urge him, but Yu Wenhao said that there were problems with several procedures and they had to be resolved today, otherwise he would not feel at ease.

Fu Jingsheng had no choice but to leave first.

Hot pot restaurant.

When Shen Xingzhi saw Fu Jingsheng come in, she thought Yu Wenhao would follow behind, but she didn't see Yu Wenhao even after Fu Jingsheng sat down.

"Where is Yu Wenhao?" she asked.

"Still working overtime." Fu Jingsheng put his coat into the stool. "It's not my fault. I told him to go home and do it tomorrow, but he wouldn't."

Shen Xingzhi immediately video-called Yu Wenhao, wondering why he had been working overtime more and more often since she became pregnant.

Shen Xingzhi started to have wild thoughts, wondering if he was using overtime as an excuse to actually hide in the office and chat with some young woman.

Yu Wenhao placed his phone in front of the computer, the camera pointed at himself: "Xingzhi, I estimate it will be around nine o'clock. I'll be relieved if you're with Rongyan and the others."

The camera only captured Yu Wenhao.

"Are you the only one in the office?" Shen Xingzhi asked.

"Yeah, who else could it be but me? I'll stop here for now. I suddenly realized how to fix this. I'm hanging up now." Yu Wenhao hurriedly ended the video call and went back to work.
