Zhou Luo's father is a doting father to his daughter.
Before Zhou's mother could finish speaking, she interrupted, "Let's rent a place nearby, but don't live together and disturb them. Just bring them food every day and see our daughter once a day."
"We're on the same page. Let's go, let's talk to our daughter." Zhou's mother couldn't hide her smile.
“She used to say that big cities were no good, that nothing beats the freedom of the countryside. But now that our daughter is married, she wants to come here,” Mr. Zhou teased his wife. Back then, Zhou Luo was working alone in Tiancheng, and Mrs. Zhou had never thought of coming to be with her daughter.
“You’re the same, and you’re criticizing me.” Mrs. Zhou glared at her husband.
Fu Jingchen settled his father-in-law in a hotel next to the residential area. He originally wanted them to stay at his home, but Zhou Luo suggested that they stay at the hotel so that everyone could make themselves at home.
Not long after, the doorbell rang.
Zhou Luo quickly opened the door.
Mr. Zhou was carrying groceries.
"Luo Luo, I'll go cook." Zhou's mother said as she came in.
They came to Tiancheng a few days before the wedding. They saw the daughter's kitchen and noticed it had a full range of seasonings.
So I only brought some vegetables today.
Zhou's mother said she would make Zhou Luo's favorite sesame seed cakes.
"Mom, why did you bring so many groceries?" Zhou Luo asked, her eyes wide as she looked at the large bags and packages.
"What about lunch and dinner? Isn't Jingchen going to eat dinner?" Zhou's mother asked.
"You've come all this way, you should rest. Why are you running around doing all this? We can eat at a restaurant," Zhou Luo said, feeling sorry for her parents.
Upon hearing about eating at a restaurant, Zhou's mother immediately frowned: "Can restaurant food be as healthy as what we cook ourselves? You used to be able to just eat whatever was available when you were single, but now you have a baby and a family. You're a person who needs to make a living. How can you eat at restaurants every day?"
"Luo Luo, I'll go back with you in a couple of days, settle things at home, and then come here to keep you company," Zhou Luo said to her daughter.
"Huh?" Zhou Luo thought he had misheard.
"You child, do you not want us to come? What's with that expression?" Zhou's mother said.
"You're going to live with us? Really?" Zhou Luo didn't believe her parents' words.
“Who said we’re living with you? We’ll live separately. You’re pregnant, and Jingchen is so busy. We’re worried about not having anyone to take care of you. So we’ll rent a place nearby so as not to disturb you two. You can come over every day, or you can go over for a meal and stay at your own place at night.” Zhou’s mother explained their idea.
"Mom, I don't want you to come and take care of me, I don't want you to suffer." Zhou Luo wished her parents would come. Every time she went home, her parents would prepare meals, and that feeling was so wonderful. But after she returned to Tiancheng, she had to do everything herself.
“We’re not tired. What’s so hard about cooking? We need to eat too, don’t we?” Zhou’s mother said, stroking her daughter’s head. “The main thing is whether you want your mother to come over, or whether Jingchen wants us to come over.”
Zhou Luo nodded without hesitation; "I think Jing Chen's adoptive mother definitely won't come to take care of me. She didn't even take care of Rong Yan when she was pregnant. Jing Chen also hopes you can come, but he's afraid you'll feel bad refusing even if you don't want to, so he hasn't asked. If you don't come, he'll find a nanny."
“That’s perfect. Why bother finding a nanny? Your dad and I are retired and have nothing to do. We were worried about taking credit for our in-laws’ work. Since our in-laws won’t take care of you personally, we’ll come over.” Zhou’s mother thought this was a perfect solution.
Zhou Luo watched her mother busy in the kitchen, took a picture, and sent it to Fu Jingchen.
This feels so good.
Suburban factory.
Yu Wenhao was unexpectedly assigned to a business trip.
He went back to get a set of clothes he liked and then rushed to the airport.
After checking in, he sent a message to Shen Xingzhi, telling her that he was going on a business trip out of town and asked her to stay at Rong Yan's house for a few days.
Yu Wenhao was worried because no one was by her side at night, as there was a possibility of premature birth in late pregnancy.
Shen Xingzhi replied: "Okay, go ahead without worry, I'll take good care of myself."
But Yu Wenhao was still worried, so he tagged Rong Yan in the group chat again, telling her that he had gone on a business trip and that Shen Xingzhi was in her care.
Rong Yan replied, "No problem."
Ye Jianming joined in the fun: "Your husbands aren't here today, are you free to come out for dinner? I don't want to see Zhao Rong."
【Ye Jianming, it's okay to eat out, but don't let Xingzhi go too far. It would be best if she stayed near my house or clinic】Yu Wenhao immediately sent two messages.
Shen Xingzhi felt embarrassed and said, "It's okay, I can sit. Rong Yan can take me. The coffee shop isn't that far."
"You guys should just wait at the clinic. I'll arrange to meet Zhao Rong. Zhao Rong and I have flexible schedules, so we can come find you tonight. That way, you'll have dinner ready as soon as you get off work." Ye Jianming thought it would be better to make the trip himself.
"Fine," Rong Yan replied. "Fu Jingsheng won't be back today. I'll stick with you guys."
[Who said I wasn't coming back today? I'm just coming back at midnight.] Fu Jingsheng suddenly popped up.
【Fu Jingsheng, you're here. It's already past midnight, so don't rush. It's not safe to drive at night.】Rong Yan advised Fu Jingsheng.
I'll see when the time comes.
After discussing it, the group went about their own work.
Northwest, Rong Bing's home.
Smoke curled from the kitchen.
The passing neighbors were attracted by the aroma and stopped to go into the yard to see what Rong Bing was doing.
"Xiao Rong, are you cooking?" the neighbor asked before even entering the house.
“Someone’s coming.” Rong Bing suddenly felt guilty.
Before Lin Feng could even hide, the neighbor came in: "We have a guest."
“Yes, Auntie, my friend is on a business trip and came to see me.” Rong Bing said, forcing herself to speak.
"Not bad at all. What is the young man making? I can smell the aroma from far away," the neighbor said, giving the man cooking a slight slap in the face.
"Hello, I'm making braised pork," Lin Feng replied politely.
"Oh, Rong." The neighbor gave Rong Bing a thumbs-up after saying "Oh," as if to say that the boy was nice. "Then you two get back to work, I'm leaving."
"Okay, Auntie, take care." Lin Feng said to Rong Bing.
"The young man is quite polite, not bad," the neighbor said with a smile as he turned back after taking two steps away.
Rong Bing saw her neighbor leave the yard through the window, and immediately went out and closed the door.
She knew her neighbors meant no harm, but it wouldn't be good if every now and then someone came and stared at Lin Feng like he was a monkey.
“Rong Bing, these people are just as you said, so simple and honest. They don’t care where I came from, they just come over and greet me.”
“Yes, they are all very nice people. I thought you would not be able to adapt and would think they were meddling in other people’s business.” Rong Bing did not expect Lin Feng to say that.
“How could that be? The fact that your neighbor came over shows that you have a good relationship and care about each other. What’s wrong with that? Unlike in the city, where everyone hides in their own homes and doesn’t talk to anyone. Human touch is getting weaker and weaker.” These were Lin Feng’s true feelings.
Rong Bing found herself developing feelings for Lin Feng more and more.
