Rong Bing stared at Lin Feng's face for a while, lost in thought.
The man looked up and met the woman's unwavering gaze. He touched his face and asked, "Is there something dirty on my face?"
Rong Bing hurriedly averted her gaze: "No...no."
“So you’re just looking at me.” Lin Feng suddenly leaned down, his face very close to Rong Bing’s. “Wouldn’t it be clearer this way?”
Rong Bing hurriedly pushed him away, saying, "It wasn't because I was looking at you, I was just thinking about something."
"Rong Bing, are you satisfied with me? I'm very satisfied with you. Meeting you in person is even better than seeing you online." Lin Feng confessed first.
Men should take the initiative.
"Huh?" Rong Bing was stunned.
"I said I'm very satisfied with you, are you satisfied with me? If you are, let's officially start dating," Lin Feng said, raising his voice.
If the houses are close together, Rong Bing can hear the neighbors arguing even at home. If Lin Feng is so loud, the neighbors will hear him too. How embarrassing!
She quickly covered the man's mouth: "I heard you, keep it down, the neighbors can hear us."
Lin Feng nodded, and Rong Bing then let go of his hand.
Are you satisfied with me?
Rong Bing thought for a moment and said, "Hmm, seeing how well you cooked this meal, if it's delicious, I'll agree to date you." The woman said deliberately.
"You're not allowed to pretend it doesn't taste good if it's not delicious."
"I promise to tell the truth and not lie." Actually, Rong Bing wanted to agree to Lin Feng's proposal directly, but she didn't want to answer without thinking. Would that make her seem too easy to pursue? She had to set some small hurdles.
"Okay, then you've agreed." Lin Feng said confidently.
Lin Feng worked quickly and efficiently, taking whatever ingredients he could find in the refrigerator and turning them into three dishes and a soup, which looked very appealing.
The vegetables were stir-fried until they were a vibrant green, the braised pork was a caramel color, the cheese and corn smelled delicious, and there was also an egg drop soup. It all looked incredibly appetizing.
He brought the dishes to the table, and Rong Bing could tell from the aroma that the taste was right.
"Try it." Lin Feng let Rong Bing taste it first.
The woman took a little of each dish, and the taste was absolutely no less than that of the chef at her own restaurant.
"It's so delicious!" the woman couldn't help but exclaim.
"Does that mean I succeeded? You agreed to be with me?" The man kept thinking about the question from earlier.
“A woman’s word is as good as hers, I agree,” Rong Bing said jokingly.
Lin Feng's grin widened; "The fridge isn't fully stocked, otherwise I could make some more. These aren't my real specialties."
"Lin Feng, were you a chef before? You're such a good cook!"
"No, it's just that I enjoy cooking. I think cooking is a pleasure, especially when I cook for someone I like. Seeing her eat it so happily gives me a great sense of accomplishment."
"You mean, I'm the person you like?" Rong Bing grasped the key point.
"Yes, if I wasn't sure before online, I'm sure now. I like you, and you're the girl I've been looking for," Lin Feng said decisively.
"I used to just feel comfortable chatting with you, but today I met you in person. I found you to be very sincere and straightforward in your speech. I like that kind of personality."
Rong Bing felt guilty upon hearing this. To say she was naive? Had Lin Feng forgotten how wicked she used to be?
She remembered telling Lin Feng that she had done many wrong things in the past and hurt many of her relatives, which was why she moved to another city to start over, even though those people had forgiven her.
“Actually, you’re not like that at all. At least I feel you’re quite nice. You’re clumsy in your work and you don’t mince words when you speak. It’s not tiring to be with a girl like that,” Lin Feng added.
So Lin Feng remembers what she said, and he doesn't mind? Rong Bing wondered.
"Lin Feng, I have no grudge against you, why would I be scheming? But what if I wasn't that kind of stupid person?" Rong Bing asked cautiously.
"I trust my feelings. You are my type, Rong Bing. No matter what you were like before, at least you are sincere when you are with me, and that's enough."
Lin Feng didn't know why he trusted Rong Bing so much; in his eyes, Rong Bing was the best girl.
"Thank you." Rong Bing's eyes suddenly reddened. She always heard Fu Jingchen and the others say that she was scheming and bad, but no one had ever said that she was innocent and kind.
“You’re just too sentimental. But being sentimental is a good thing. Sentimental girls have high emotional intelligence. Anyway, I can protect you.” Lin Feng tentatively took Rong Bing’s hand. “I’m not lying to you. Every time I talk to you, I have the urge to rush over and protect you. Even when you share happy things, I always feel like you’re not so happy.”
“Rong Bing, whatever happened in the past is in the past. People should look forward.” Lin Feng was naturally open-minded. He had said these words to Rong Bing many times online, and now he said them again in front of the woman.
Rong Bing did not pull her hand away from his; instead, she said thank you.
In that instant, she felt that all the detours she had taken were worthwhile. She realized that being loved, and being loved openly and honestly, felt completely different.
"What, are you about to cry? I told you you're very sentimental." Lin Feng lowered his head and touched Rong Bing's eyes.
"No, it's just that you used too much oil when you were cooking, and the fumes haven't dissipated yet, so they bothered me," Rong Bing lied.
Lin Feng knew that girls were concerned about their image and would say one thing but mean another, so he didn't expose her. Instead, he said, "Yes, it's all my fault. I'll go open the window and let some fresh air in."
As Lin Feng turned away, Rong Bing quickly wiped away her tears.
She secretly vowed to cherish Lin Feng from now on.
Rong Bing couldn't help but share her happiness with Rong Yan, as she couldn't find anyone else she could confide in besides Rong Yan.
Rong Yan, who was having lunch, received a text message from her younger sister. It was a simple message: "Sis, that online friend came to see me, and I've decided to go with him."
In fact, Rong Bing had mentioned that person to Rong Yan a few times before. Judging from their conversations, the man was indeed quite considerate.
Rongyan hoped her younger sister could meet a good man, so she replied, "That's good, cherish him."
“Sister, I want to go back. The Northwest is too far away, too far from him, more than a thousand kilometers away. Tiancheng is only a few hundred kilometers away from his home,” Rong Bing said impulsively.
“Sure, you can come back anytime you want.” Rong Yan didn’t interfere with Rong Bing’s choice, after all, Tiancheng was her hometown.
"Sister, thank you for always supporting me." But when Rong Bing expressed her gratitude, Rong Yan was stunned.
"Why are you thanking me? Let me know when you're coming back, and I'll see if I have time to pick you up."
"Okay." Rong Bing smiled. "I'm going to eat now. He made it, and it's delicious." Finally, Rong Bing tossed out a photo.
Rong Yan read through the conversation again and said to Shen Xingzhi with emotion, "Even Rong Bing has moved on. It turns out that even the deepest pain will fade with time."
"Isn't that right? Time heals all wounds. But Rong Bing brought this upon herself. Otherwise, with her original qualities, she could easily have found someone who would love her," Shen Xingzhi said.
"Yes, the road may have been bumpy, but the result was good."
