“Rongyan, you’re always like this. Even if someone who hurt you has truly repented, you still wish them well. Although I wouldn’t do that, I’m happy to have a friend like you who would listen to me.” Shen Xingzhi hugged Rongyan.
"I don't think you're praising me at all," Rong Yan rolled her eyes. "Isn't this just being a saint? It's not a virtue."
"I swear I'm praising you. People with a tolerant heart have many friends, and many people are willing to help you in critical moments. It's truly a virtue." Shen Xingzhi swore she wasn't lying to Rong Yan.
"Alright, stop flattering me. Tell me, what do you need me to do?" Rong Yan sensed that something was wrong with Shen Xingzhi.
"It's nothing, I'm just going to stay at your place, am I going to cause you any trouble?" Shen Xingzhi said with a grin.
"Get lost, what do you mean by causing trouble?" If Shen Xingzhi weren't pregnant, Rong Yan would have really wanted to punch her.
——
In the Northwest, the weather was sunny and the wind was light in the afternoon.
"Lin Feng, do you want to go to some tourist attractions?" Rong Yan hadn't been in Northwest China for long, but she had already learned about many fun places from her neighbors. During the day, when she had nothing to do, she would visit various tourist attractions.
"Sure," the man replied without hesitation, thinking it would be a wonderful thing to enjoy the scenery together.
Lin Feng opened the passenger door and let Rong Bing sit down.
The two chatted all the way, and Rong Bing hadn't felt this relaxed in a long time.
After navigating to the destination, Rong Bing acted as a tour guide. She had only been there once, but she still remembered the most famous photo spots in the scenic area.
Looking at the woman who was talking so fluently, Lin Feng asked, "Have you been here many times?"
"Just once," Rong Bing said. "What's wrong?"
"You remember so clearly after just one visit? Impressive," Lin Feng praised. "Rong Bing, I suddenly had an idea. Aren't short videos all the rage now? You take such great photos, why don't you create your own account and post them? If it goes viral, you can monetize it. You can sell products; I'm in business, I have the supply." He quickly added, afraid she might misunderstand, "Of course, I don't think you have to work, but I think you have the ability. You should really give it a try. You love traveling and you're such a good storyteller; you could film and explain things yourself."
"I've thought about it, and you think I can do it too, right?" Rong Bing didn't expect Lin Feng to discover her strengths so quickly.
“Yes, I can see from the photos you shared with me before that you really take great photos. Now I realize that your explanations are also very good. Combining them, we can make an explanatory video, right? We can leverage our strengths.” Lin Feng spoke frankly. “I absolutely do not mean to flatter you. The things you take are almost the same as those taken by professional photographers. You know I work in business, which involves product images.”
“I also think I can give it a try. By the way, I sent a message to my sister at noon. I want to go back to Tiancheng. Once I get back, I’ll get it started right away. There are so many more attractions in Tiancheng.” Rong Bing didn’t mention that she was going back to Tiancheng to be closer to Lin Feng.
The man asked, "Really? Then it's closer to me?"
The woman nodded vigorously: "It's true. I stayed in the Northwest for a few months. The neighbors were very nice, but I didn't feel a sense of belonging. Now that I've let go of the past, I'm not afraid of being anywhere. Besides, Tiancheng is much closer to you."
Lin Feng grinned from ear to ear: "We really are on the same wavelength. I came here today wondering if you would go back."
“I made this decision on the spur of the moment, do you believe me?” Rong Bing raised her head and looked into Lin Feng’s eyes. “I suddenly felt like going back at noon, so I told my sister. But it was definitely not a spur-of-the-moment decision, because I still want to go back right now.”
"Because of me?" Lin Feng was good at grasping the key points.
"You could say that. At least you were a catalyst. Winters in the Northwest are cold and dry, and I was finding it hard to cope with them recently. It was just in time that you came." Rong Bing didn't deny that Lin Feng's appearance made her decide to stay.
"I'm so happy, really."
After finalizing the return to Tiancheng, the two discussed the timing. Rong Bing still had a few places to visit, and since she had come all this way, she decided to visit them all before leaving. She allocated a week for the trip.
After leaving the tourist attraction in the evening, Rong Bing asked Lin Feng what he wanted to eat. The man said he would buy some vegetables at the market and cook when they got back.
Fearing that Rong Bing might misunderstand and think that eating at home that evening meant he was planning to stay overnight, he added, "I've booked a hotel in town. I'll go there after dinner."
“Sure, Lin Feng, do you know how to make pancakes? The Northwest mainly eats wheat-based foods, so how about we make pancakes together?” Rong Bing suggested.
"If I said I couldn't do it, I could learn it after watching the video once, would you believe me?" Lin Feng asked smugly.
"Okay, then it's decided." The two of them happily went to the market.
As evening fell, smoke began to rise again from Rong Bing's house.
Several neighbors knew she had guests today, so they made a point of not disturbing them.
Rong Bing helped Lin Feng with his work.
The man's movements were practiced; Rong Bing couldn't believe it was his first time doing it.
She had seen her neighbor make pancakes, and they looked similar to Raymond Lam's.
So Lin Feng learned how to eat the local food he had grown up in just one video.
"Lin Feng, your ancestral home isn't in the Northwest, is it?" Rong Bing asked suspiciously.
"No, just like you, I'm from the South," Lin Feng replied. "Do you think I did a great job? It's really my first time making this, but I don't know how it tastes yet. I'll try it later."
"You can tell it's delicious even without tasting it." Rong Bingguang's mouth was watering just smelling the raw filling.
"It shouldn't go wrong, even though we're missing two materials." Lin Feng was confident in himself.
Northwest flatbreads can last a week in winter. Knowing that he had to go back tomorrow and Rong Bing would probably just make do with whatever was available, Lin Feng decided to make more.
He even improved it a bit, making some dipping sauces that could last for a week without any problems.
"Rong Bing, I'll make more, you can eat slowly." The man used the leftover vegetables from the refrigerator, along with the sweet bean sauce and fermented black beans he had bought, to make a stew.
"This sauce tastes good with rice, doesn't it?" Rong Bing loves mixing something into her rice.
"It's not just for rice, it's the same for noodles, just enough to keep you going until you get home," Lin Feng said earnestly. "Remember to use clean chopsticks to pick out the bits when you eat them, otherwise they'll spoil easily."
"You're so knowledgeable!" The woman looked at Lin Feng with starry eyes.
Lin Feng suddenly smeared some flour on Rong Yan's nose and then laughed, "You're so cute."
Rong Bing wasn't going to back down either. She slapped her hand on the flour and then stuck it on Lin Feng's face, saying, "You're cute too."
The man, whose face was half-attacked, grabbed Rong Bing. He was very strong and could restrain the woman with one hand. Rong Bing was powerless to fight back.
The only way to protect her face was to bury it in Raymond Lam's arms.
But soon, she felt a wave of heat on her ears, and Lin Feng asked in her ear, "Move."
"Lin Feng, I never expected you to be so wicked." Rong Bing's face burned. "Let me go."
"I won't let go. Since I've already hugged you, I'll hug you a little longer."
