"Let me do it!" Hu Mingmei gently pushed Bai Nuo aside, then rolled up his sleeves, revealing his strong forearms, and pulled the rope to lift the bucket up.
Bai Nuo was stunned. This guy... his physique is amazing! Bai Nuo remembered that he had touched the guy's abs and pecs before. Is this really a patient? How can his physique be so good?
Hu Mingmei lifted the bucket up, and the cool water inside rippled slightly, spilling out. When Hu Mingmei looked up, she saw Bai Nuo watching her, unaware that the water had spilled.
"Get out of the way!" Hu Mingmei frowned, reached out and pulled Bai Nuo away.
So thin.
That was Hu Mingmei's only feeling.
Bai Nuo was pulled back to her senses by Hu Mingmei. As soon as she came to her senses, she wanted to slap herself twice. How could she be spacing out in front of someone?
What will others think of her?
To cover her embarrassment, Bai Nuo quickly squatted down and scooped up a spoonful of water—but then she was embarrassed to find that once she had the water, she couldn't pour the pearls out.
Why are you being so clumsy today?
Fortunately, Hu Mingmei quickly resolved Bai Nuo's embarrassment. Seeing that Bai Nuo had no more pearls to pour out, he took the pearls from Bai Nuo's hand, opened the purse, and poured out all the pearls.
"Thank you!" Bai Nuo quickly started washing the pearls, inwardly cursing herself for not being able to resist the temptation.
Beauty can be a curse! Who says only beautiful women are a menace? Handsome men are a menace too!
When will she be able to get rid of this habit of liking to look at handsome men?
When I see someone who is good-looking, I can't help but be attracted to them.
What a spineless coward!
After washing them, Bai Nuo scooped up all the pearls. Hu Mingmei's voice rang softly in her ear, "Put them in my hand. You can't hold them all with one hand."
Bai Nuo looked up and saw that Hu Mingmei had already reached out his hand to her.
"Are you really okay to touch cold water? You almost drowned last time you went fishing!" Bai Nuo was still bothered by Hu Mingmei's drowning incident. Ever since that incident, Hu Mingmei had become a very fragile person in Bai Nuo's eyes and in Bai Nuo's heart.
She was terrified that this time would be the same.
Therefore, he dared not easily ask Hu Mingmei for help.
Hu Mingmei shook her head. "It's nothing. I was just having a relapse of my illness that time. It had nothing to do with getting wet."
"Oh!" Bai Nuo then placed all the pearls in Hu Mingmei's hand. Hu Mingmei's hands were really big; she could actually hold all the pearls in one hand.
Bai Nuo poured out the murky water, filled a spoon with clean water, and gestured for Hu Mingmei to put the pearls in. After washing them several times until the water became clear, he scooped up all the pearls, went back inside, got a cotton cloth, and poured all the pearls in to dry them.
"Is that all?" Hu Mingmei asked, watching Bai Nuo deftly wipe the water off the pearl.
"Not yet!" Bai Nuo said calmly. She herself did not realize that she had not kept these things from Hu Mingmei. They were supposed to be a secret, but Bai Nuo had unconsciously revealed all her secrets to Hu Mingmei.
Whether it was family matters or secrets within the shop, Bai Nuo didn't put up any defenses against Hu Mingmei.
Perhaps they had taken precautions, but Bai Nuo herself forgot.
After wiping the water off the pearls, Bai Nuo found a small basket, poured all the pearls into it, and then ran to the courtyard to take out a red string from the carriage. After deciding on the opening date, Bai Nuo had kept the red string in the carriage, thinking that she could work on it when she had time.
Hu Mingmei waited for Bai Nuo to return. Watching Bai Nuo come and go, Hu Mingmei waited quietly without urging Bai Nuo.
Only after Bai Nuo had prepared everything and placed it on the table, ready to get started, did Hu Mingmei follow and sit down.
He didn't lift a finger, but just watched as Bai Nuo threaded each pearl through the string, pulling, picking, or tying it.
"The pearls aren't long enough, so we can only make a bracelet..." Bai Nuo realized that the bag of pearls she had given him could be made into a necklace, but after thinking about it, it would look strange for a man to wear a pearl necklace, so she could only string all of Su's pearls together and make up a random excuse.
What were you thinking in the first place? Why did you even consider giving away pearls? Hu Mingmei isn't a woman!
"Oh!" Hu Mingmei didn't care at all what Bai Nuo said. He only asked Bai Nuo to do this because he wanted to see how it was done. Now that he had seen it, it didn't matter what it turned out to be.
But looking at that long string of pearls, long enough to be a woman's necklace, Hu Mingmei still reached out her hand.
"That one!" Bai Nuo didn't find anything wrong with it. Seeing Hu Mingmei extend his right hand, he reached out and pulled Hu Mingmei's left hand. "Men should wear it on their left hand."
Then he slipped the pearl necklace over his wrist, wrapped it around twice, and the pearl necklace hung loosely on Hu Mingmei's wrist, turning it into a men's bracelet.
It doesn't look bad or strange at all!
This person is handsome, and has beautiful hands. With beautiful hands, everything looks good on him, and he doesn't look effeminate.
