Chapter 108 To meet, you need to climb over the wall.

When Xia Donglai first came to Bai Nuo's house, he was shocked to see this scene. Moreover, Bai Nuo really did leave as soon as she said she would, and Hu Mingmei did it.

When did their second master become so efficient at work?

Seeing Bai Nuo gradually walk into the main room, Hu Mingmei was tidying up the dried vegetables by herself. Xia Donglai didn't dare to stand by and watch, so he quickly told Hu Mingmei to go into the main room to rest while he finished tidying up the dried vegetables.

Bai Nuo and Hu Mingmei had just sat down in the main room when Aunt Liu pushed her mother-in-law in.

"Where have you been and why are you in such a terrible state?" As soon as the old woman saw Bai Nuo, she slapped him. Hu Mingmei wanted to pull Bai Nuo away, but she held back.

"I got a little hurt outside, but I'm fine now!" Bai Nuo let the old woman hit her without flinching.

Fortunately, the old woman only slapped Bai Nuo twice as a symbolic gesture before stopping. She grabbed Bai Nuo's shoulders and looked her up and down, especially when she saw Bai Nuo's hand wrapped in white gauze, she felt even more heartbroken.

"Young lady, you don't know, when Bai Yu came back and told me about your injury, I cried. Bai Yu and I said that if I saw you come back, I was sure I would cry again. See, it was true!" Aunt Liu joked with Bai Nuo when she saw her grandmother crying with heartache. Bai Nuo followed up with Aunt Liu's words, "I'm perfectly fine, aren't I? You're so old and you're still crying, and you've cried twice in a row."

The old woman raised her head, wiped away her tears, and patted Bai Nuo, saying, "I didn't cry twice!" Only then did she notice the presence of Hu Mingmei and Xia Donglai.

"Mingmei, thank you for bringing our Bai Nuo back!" the old woman said to Hu Mingmei calmly.

"Of course!" Hu Mingmei replied steadily.

"Who are these two?" the old woman asked suspiciously, looking at Xia Donglai and Xiaohe.

"Oh!" Bai Nuo introduced to the old woman, "These two are Young Master Hu's subordinates." She pointed to Xiao He and emphasized, "This young lady has been taking care of me these past few days."

"Oh!" The old woman nodded in sudden understanding. "Then thank you very much, Mingmei!"

Although the old woman's expression didn't change, Hu Mingmei was a very perceptive person, and he immediately sensed that the old woman's attitude towards him had changed.

“It’s all only right. I’ve known Bai Nuo for a while now,” Hu Mingmei said. “It’s getting late, Grandma, I should head back now.”

"Take care..." the old woman said casually, without even offering to invite them to stay for dinner.

Bai Nuo's heart skipped a beat.

Hu Mingmei stood up to say goodbye and left with Xia Donglai. The old woman called out to Hu Mingmei again, "Mingmei, you forgot to take one person with you."

She pointed to the stream.

Xiaohe quickly said, "Madam, I came here specifically to serve Miss Bai."

"What's this talk about serving you?" the old woman laughed. "We're all country folk, we're not that delicate. Even though Bai Nuo is injured, we're still here for her, so there's no need for anyone else to serve her. You can go back now!"

Xiaohe looked at Hu Mingmei with a troubled expression, then at Bai Nuo. Bai Nuo had no choice but to say, "Xiaohe, you should go back first. Thank you for taking care of me these past few days."

Xiaohe looked at Hu Mingmei again, and Hu Mingmei nodded almost imperceptibly to her. Only then did Xiaohe follow Hu Mingmei away.

"Are your injuries all healed?" The old woman's tone turned cold after Hu Mingmei left.

Aunt Liu quietly left, leaving the grandmother and grandson alone.

Bai Nuo sensed it and quickly said, "It's all done, it's all done."

"Where have you been staying these past few days?" the old woman asked again. "Tell the truth!"

"I'm staying at the Fulai Inn!" Bai Nuo told the truth, but she concealed half of it, not daring to tell the old woman that the inn belonged to Hu Mingmei.

"What about Hu Mingmei?" The old woman narrowed her eyes and said with a stern face, "Nuonuo, I raised you. I know best whether you can lie or not, and what a lie looks like. You'd better not hide it from me!"

“He also stayed at an inn!” Bai Nuo said honestly, “but we didn’t stay together. He just found me a place to settle down and let me recover before sending me back.”

Bai Nuo didn't dare to say that Hu Mingmei was staying somewhere else but at an inn, otherwise she wouldn't be able to explain why Hu Mingmei would come back with her.

“He sends someone to tell me how you are every day, you guys…” The old woman looked at Bai Nuo for a long time. Bai Nuo smiled ingratiatingly at the old woman, and only then did the old woman stop staring at her.

Bai Nuo naturally knew what the old woman meant; she wanted to ask Hu Mingmei if they had already secretly pledged their lives to each other.

Does it count?

Doesn't that count?

At most, they're together, but they haven't said or done anything.

Bai Nuo shook her head.

Grandma was finally relieved and added, "Don't get too close to him, it's not good for you," before letting Bai Nuo go back to her room.

When it got dark, Lu Ying brought Bai Yu back. The old lady still didn't give Lu Ying a friendly look. After the family of four had dinner, Bai Nuo went back to her room to sleep.

Just as she was drifting off to sleep, Bai Nuo suddenly felt the bed become much heavier. When she opened her eyes, she saw someone sitting on her bed.

"Why are you here?" Bai Nuo asked groggily. "Weren't you supposed to go back?"

The figure asked, "How do you know who I am?"

Bai Nuo opened her eyes wide and sat up in bed. The man reached out to help her, and Bai Nuo leaned into his arms, chuckling softly, "I can smell your scent." She had only ever smelled this scent on Hu Mingmei; it was Hu Mingmei's exclusive scent. Naturally, she knew Hu Mingmei had arrived when she smelled it.
