How could I possibly remember waiting for Hu Mingmei?
Hu Mingmei walked to the bedside and asked her in a low voice, "Can you negotiate a settlement?"
Bai Nuo shook her head.
Hu Mingmei had no choice but to let Bai Nuo lie on the bed, and then sat down on the edge of the bed herself, and started to help Bai Nuo take off her clothes.
Bai Nuo quickly grabbed her clothes and turned to look at him, "Are you serious?"
Hu Mingmei was anxious about Bai Nuo's injuries and didn't understand what Bai Nuo meant. She stared at Bai Nuo expectantly, "What do you mean, 'serious'?"
"About our engagement!" Bai Nuo took a deep breath, suppressing the pain. After hearing so much from Hu Mingmei, she was terrified at first, but now she came to her senses. Marriage? Was he serious?
Bai Nuo suddenly felt a sense of anticipation, but was also afraid that he was saying this to extricate himself from the situation.
"Of course I'm serious!" Hu Mingmei said in a low voice. "Don't move, let me check your injury so I can apply some medicine! Otherwise, why would I come? I'd rather your grandma beat you to death!"
While Hu Mingmei was speaking, his hands did not stop. He clearly saw the injury on Bai Nuo's back. There was no broken skin, but there was a heavy bruise that ran from the left to the right, a dark blue mark.
Seeing her like this, Hu Mingmei felt both heartache and self-blame for not catching up with her and letting her get beaten up for no reason. She couldn't help but say, "You should have kept your distance!"
“She’s my grandma. She got so angry over hearing those things. If I don’t let her hit me a couple of times, am I supposed to let her die of anger?”
As Bai Nuo spoke, she moved her head onto Hu Mingmei's lap, muttering, "It hurts so much!"
