"From now on, whether we're here or not, you can't close down!" Bai Nuo said coldly. "Can't Duobao Pavilion operate without us? What are we here for?"
Bai Nuo's serious expression startled Qinghe. Qinghe had never seen Bai Nuo like this before, and stared at her blankly, at a loss for what to do.
"This is a special case!" Jiang Sanniang said with a smile. "If we can't make it today, so be it. Tell all departments to hurry up and try to open the morning market!"
"I'll give the instructions right away!" Qinghe nodded and ran up to the third floor.
After Qinghe left, Jiang Sanniang looked at Bai Nuo, who had a cold face, and asked in confusion, "What's wrong with you? Why are you so angry? Are you feeling unwell?"
Bai Nuo shook her head, regretting taking her temper out on Qinghe. But the words were already out and couldn't be taken back. Bai Nuo didn't want to explain, so she said, "It's nothing, I just feel a bit aggrieved about what happened to us this time."
"Who says otherwise?" Jiang Sanniang sighed. "We've been schemed against for no reason, and we don't even know who schemed against us. I'm afraid they'll do it again after this once. We must be careful and on guard!"
Bai Nuo nodded haphazardly, his mind no longer on Jiang San Niang, and simply said, "It's still early, you should go back and rest for a while!"
"I'll just sleep in the backyard!"
When Jiang Sanniang went back to sleep, it was already broad daylight. The sunlight shone in through the window, which was a bit dazzling. Jiang Sanniang covered her eyes with her hands, and could hear the lively sounds from the front.
"You're awake?" Suddenly, Jiang San Niang heard someone speaking by the bedside. She put down her hand, turned her head, and saw Lu Ying sitting beside her, looking at her.
Jiang San Niang lowered her hand, smiled, and leaned over, resting her head on Lu Ying's lap. She squinted at him and lazily asked, "Husband, you're back?"
That "husband" was so sweet and tender, filled with boundless affection. Lu Ying felt his heart melt upon hearing it. He lowered his head, kissed Jiang San Niang, and then asked, "Did you sleep well?"
Jiang San Niang shook her head, "Not good, I miss you so much, and so does the baby!" Ever since Bai Nuo found out she was pregnant, she had been calling her baby all the time, which made Jiang San Niang call her baby sometimes too.
Lu Ying's heart was completely melted by Jiang San Niang. He reached out and picked up a porcelain bowl from the table, stirring it in one direction with a spoon as he asked, "Want something to eat?"
Jiang San Niang was even happier when she saw him stirring something in a porcelain bowl. She knew he must have gone straight into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for her as soon as he got back.
Jiang San Niang got up from Lu Ying's lap, leaned against the headboard, and looked at Lu Ying. "What is this?"
"Bird's nest," Lu Ying said with a smile. "My sister-in-law asked me to buy it. She said it's good for your health. You've suffered so much, you need to nourish yourself properly."
After eating the lovingly prepared breakfast by Lu Ying, Jiang San Niang, with a rosy complexion, was helped out of the courtyard by Lu Ying. Originally, Lu Ying wanted to take Jiang San Niang directly to the second floor, but Jiang San Niang suddenly thought of Bai Nuo and quickly said, "Let's go downstairs first. I need to go see Nuo Nuo. She seems to have something on her mind!"
Lu Ying looked at her strangely.
Jiang San Niang asked, "Have you seen Second Master? How is he?"
Lu Ying shook her head. "Not yet. After I got home last night, I went out with Donglai and haven't seen him yet."
"Did they have a fight?" Jiang San Niang asked, offering her guess.
"Don't overthink it. Second Master dotes on his sister-in-law so much, why would he argue with her?"
Jiang San Niang thought to herself, "I'm afraid it's Bai Nuo arguing with Hu Mingmei, not Hu Mingmei arguing with Bai Nuo."
When the two arrived on the first floor, Hu Mingmei and Bai Nuo were both there. However, the two of them didn't say much to each other. After watching each other for a while, when Bai Nuo was forced to communicate with Hu Mingmei, she would only say a word or two, or a sentence or two, and that was it.
The two were polite yet distant, and even if Lu Ying were blind, she could see that something was wrong.
What's wrong with those two?
Jiang San Niang shook her head.
As the two of them were watching, they saw Bai Nuo shout at Hu Mingmei, "I don't need your help!"
Hu Mingmei awkwardly let go of Bai Nuo's arm.
The employees and customers around them looked at the two of them strangely.
Lu Ying and Hu Mingmei exchanged a glance, then each of them went up and pulled Bai Nuo and Hu Mingmei apart.
"What's wrong?" In the backyard, Jiang San Niang looked at Bai Nuo with concern. "Why did you suddenly start arguing?"
Bai Nuo shook her head, wiping away her tears. "It's nothing!"
"Nothing's wrong yet?" Seeing Bai Nuo trying to leave, Jiang San Niang grabbed her arm. "You and Second Master never used to argue. What's wrong with you these past few days? Don't tell me nothing's wrong. Anyone with eyes can see that you two have a fight."
Bai Nuo took a deep breath, explained the situation, and then asked, "Did you ask Lu Ying this question?"
Jiang San Niang was taken aback, then shook her head. To be honest, if Bai Nuo hadn't brought it up, Jiang San Niang really wouldn't have thought that she could ask Lu Ying such a question.
"Why don't you ask?" Bai Nuo looked at her, her eyes filled with confusion. "We went through something like that, we were almost defiled. Don't you want to know how they treated us after we were defiled?"
Jiang San Niang said calmly, "I don't want to know!"
Bai Nuo looked at her again, her eyes filled with doubt.
Jiang San Niang said, "All I want to do in my life is live a good life, not for anyone else, but for myself. Nuonuo, you're being too stubborn. If you really experienced something like that, would you just give up? Would you just give up just because Second Master dislikes you?"
