There's no way to hide it anymore. Judging from the fact that the young mistress visits the old lady and the young master every day, Bai Nuo cares about the old lady and the young master quite a bit and doesn't neglect them at all. As soon as the young mistress goes to the young master's place, she will immediately find out. Rather than making the young mistress anxious, it's better to tell her now so that she can be prepared.
"What exactly happened?" Bai Nuo looked at the three of them and felt a tightness in her heart. The three of them looked so solemn, especially Granny Wang. She was a steady person and would never make up nonsense. This made Bai Nuo even more convinced that something terrible had happened.
"Young Madam, don't worry!" Granny Wang quickly reassured Bai Nuo, "Listen to me!"
Bai Nuo took a deep breath before nodding, "Okay, go ahead, I'm not in a hurry!"
Granny Wang pondered, seemingly organizing her thoughts, trying to figure out how to talk to Bai Nuo in a way that would make her feel better.
Although Bai Nuo didn't know what had happened, seeing her like this made her feel as if her heart had sunk to the bottom, and she was inexplicably afraid. In a moment of confusion, Granny Wang finally spoke.
"The young master and young lady were injured when they went out today!" Granny Wang said softly, "but they are alright!"
"They were injured?" Bai Nuo was anxious and tried to stand up, but Mudan and Shaoyao quickly stopped her. "Young Madam, the young master and young lady are alright now. Please listen to us first!"
"Oh..." Bai Nuo nodded, feeling a rush of blood to her head and dizziness. She quickly suppressed the impulse. "What happened? How were they injured? Where are the people with him?" Hu Mingmei had a total of twenty guards. Apart from a few who stayed at home, there was one who followed Bai Yu and the others. With such a person by their side, why were Bai Yu and Qiao'er still injured?
"The streets were in chaos today. Eighteen was supposed to be with the young master, but because there were so many people and it was so chaotic, the young master and young lady got separated from the crowd."
"Getting separated doesn't mean they should have been beaten up!" Bai Nuo said. Bai Yu and Qiao'er are not troublemakers. Even if they were alone and the streets were in chaos, they shouldn't have gotten into fights. So why were they beaten up?
"They said there were two groups of people fighting on the street, and the young master and his companions happened to run into them. They said it was an accidental injury," said Granny Wang. She hadn't gone out with them; she had only heard about it from others and didn't know the specifics.
To claim ignorance when asked is simply unbelievable and seems extremely strange. However, we can only draw a conclusion after examining their injuries.
"Let's go, let's go take a look!" Bai Nuo forced herself to calm down. Seeing that she was not as agitated as before, Mudan and Shaoyao pushed Bai Nuo out.
Bai Nuo led the two to Bai Yu's room. There was no one in the outer room, but they could hear voices coming from inside. Bai Nuo glanced at Mudan, who was pushing her, and Mudan pushed her inside.
Inside the room, Grandma, Aunt Liu, and Lu Ying were all there. When they saw her coming, they all turned to look at her. Bai Nuo looked at Grandma, whose eyes were blurry with tears, and felt a pang of heartache.
"How is Ayu?" Bai Nuo asked softly, pushing the wheelchair over.
Inside the room was a soft couch and a bed. Bai Yu was on the bed, and Qiao'er was on the couch. Qiao'er was in a slightly better condition than Bai Yu; she wasn't injured, just frightened.
Seeing that the old woman's eyes were blurry with tears and she was too sad to speak, Aunt Liu answered for her, "It wasn't a serious injury, just a cut on her forehead and hand. We've seen a doctor, and it's nothing serious."
Bai Nuo breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this. After carefully examining A Yu, she saw that although A Yu's hands and forehead were wrapped in gauze, his complexion was still rosy. So she was relieved and asked Qiao'er about her. After receiving the same answer as Bai Yu, she comforted her grandmother.
Bai Yu has never been injured much in his life. The most serious injury he's ever had is a fever, which his grandmother can usually handle on her own. But now he seems to be hurt here and there, no wonder his grandmother is so worried.
Aunt Liu was afraid that the old lady would hurt herself if she cried for too long, so she joined Bai Nuo in trying to persuade her. After finally calming her down, Bai Nuo carefully called over Shi Ba and asked her about the whole thing.
Eighteen immediately knelt down. "Young Madam, I failed to protect the young master properly. Please punish me!" Everyone else was fine, but he was the only one who got into trouble. Eighteen deeply doubted his own actions. Although he was responsible for the safety of two people, they were both children, one ten years old and the other nine. Children are actually easy to handle and get along with, but he just couldn't protect them well.
Seeing Bai Yu like that, I felt extremely guilty.
"Alright, this isn't your fault. Get up and tell me what happened!" Bai Nuo looked at Shi Ba, but there wasn't much blame in her eyes.
Eighteen obediently stood up and recounted what had happened. Her account was not much different from what Granny Wang had said, except that Eighteen said, "At that time, I was bumped by someone and separated from the young master and young lady. When I tried to go find them, I was swept away by the crowd. When I came out, the young master and young lady had already been swept away by the crowd."
"Why is the street so chaotic? Have you found out the reason?" Bai Nuo asked. This wasn't a rural town; it was the main street of the capital. Eight out of ten people here were people of status. To avoid saying anything inappropriate and offending anyone, the people here were very cautious. She had never seen anything like this in all the time she had been here.
