Chapter 24

"Alright, get up now. Go and call your younger brother over. Grandma has something to say to him," Grandma said softly. Her back pain and the exertion of the whole day had left her exhausted, and she closed her eyes.

Bai Nuo looked at the old woman with some disappointment, got up and went out, but soon came back in with A Yu.

The old woman repeated what she had said to Ah Yu verbatim. Ah Yu pursed his lips and said, "Grandma, didn't you tell me not to pay attention to my dad or these people?"

Not only A-Yu didn't understand, but Bai Nuo was also somewhat confused. It was Grandma who said to stay away, but now it was also Grandma who said to return.

What if they treat them badly? Would the three of them have to stay there and refuse to leave? But if that's the case, why did Grandma teach them to say those things? Why? Just to make herself happy?

"Grandma was just scolding your father a bit. Scolding is one thing, but he's still your father. You can't just ignore him and always give him a hard time, can you?" Grandma poked Ayu's forehead with her finger, saying with exasperation, "You're being so unfilial. That's not right."

Bai Nuo felt even more desperate.

She suddenly understood the old woman's thoughts. To the old woman, Bai Dalin was her only son no matter what. Even if her son married a woman she didn't like, he was still her son. No matter what he did or how much she complained, she would still live with him.

As for the things you are taught, they are all complaints. But you can't believe them. If you believe them and react accordingly, then you are the ones who are wrong.

"Mother, I've invited a doctor to come and see you!" As the three of them were talking, Chen Qiuling and Bai Dalin walked in, followed by an old doctor. The couple had already taken a bath and changed into clean clothes, showing no signs of their previous disheveled state. They both maintained a respectful and filial attitude.

"Doctor, please take a look at my mother, she has injured her back..." Chen Qiuling called for the doctor as soon as she came in, and did not forget to "gently" push Bai Nuo, who was blocking her way, aside.

The doctor quickly came up to take the pulse and examine the injury, and soon went to write a prescription. With the doctor gone, the Bai family members all gathered in Bai Nuo's room.

"Come here, all of you, I have something to tell you." The old woman leaned against the headboard with her eyes closed, gathering everyone in the room together. "I'm old, and I'll rely on the two of you to take care of me in my old age."

"What are you saying, Mother? We're willing to take care of you in your old age and see you off in your final days," Chen Qiuling said before Bai Dalin could speak.

"That's good..." The old woman nodded in satisfaction. "Since you're all willing, I'm relieved. And Qiuling..."

"Hey..." The old woman suddenly called out to Chen Qiuling. Chen Qiuling didn't know what the old woman wanted to say. "You said, your daughter-in-law is here." She sat down while holding the old woman's hand.

“You have been married into our Bai family for four years now. Although you and Dalin are very loving, you have not given birth to any children for our Bai family. Today, I, this old woman, will take the liberty of entrusting these two children to you.”

Chen Qiuling's face stiffened for a moment, but she quickly smiled again. "Mother, don't worry, I will treat these two children as my own. They will have what Chen Zhi has, so don't worry."

"That's good..." the old woman nodded in satisfaction. "Also, I heard what the doctor said earlier. Dalin is a man, and the two children are still young. I'll be relying on you to take care of them from now on."
