Chapter 44 Young man, you are truly unfathomable.

When Bai Nuo brought the things to Grandma and A Yu's room, Bai Yu was asleep, and Grandma was still trying on clothes. When Grandma saw Bai Nuo bringing in so many things, she asked curiously, "You were gone for so long just for this?"

"Yes!" Bai Nuo placed the red bean soup in the old woman's hands, and then took the clothes from her hands. "It's hot, have some of this first. It's already cold, it'll make you feel better."

The old woman ate whatever Bai Nuo brought without asking any questions. Only after taking a bite did she ask, "Did you bring some of what you cooked to Qiu Ling?"

The way the old lady addresses Chen Qiuling is now subtly changing.

Bai Nuo shook her head. She took her food to Chen Qiuling, but Chen Qiuling was probably afraid it might be poisonous and wouldn't dare to eat it. Even if Chen Qiuling dared to eat it, Bai Nuo didn't want to give her her own food.

"Let me bring her some over. It's so hot, and she's pregnant, so she'll be even more sensitive to the heat." The old woman put down her bowl and then directed Bai Nuo to get another clean bowl.

Although Bai Nuo was unwilling, she still obediently went to get it, but she couldn't help but say to the old woman, "Grandma, I'm not saying this to be mean, but it's no use bringing it over, she won't eat it." Chen Qiuling must be regretting letting them move in now, right? She wished she could draw a clear line with this family, how could she possibly eat their food?

"You're still young, you don't understand these things..." The old woman shook her head, leaned on her cane, and carried the red bean soup and two sesame balls before going out.

Bai Nuo shook her head, looking at the old woman's somewhat unsteady back. It wasn't that she didn't understand, but that she felt it was unnecessary.

Sure enough, the old lady returned not long after she left, with the same things, exactly as they were.

On the other side, the boy who had been helped by Bai Nuo lay on the ground again after taking the medicine, almost dried out by the sun, before he recovered. When he got up, his face was still flushed, covered with a thin layer of sweat, dense and shiny, like white frost.

Of course, the boy was completely soaked.

After a long while, he finally stood up from his seat, flicked the dust off his clothes, but no matter how much he patted them, they wouldn't come off clean, and his clothes were still sticky. So, his expression instantly turned into one of disgust, as if he had swallowed a fly.

He's a clean freak and simply can't stand this kind of stain.

"Second Master!"

Behind him, someone was respectfully calling his name. The boy turned around and saw a person covered in blood, whose face was completely obscured by blood.

The person in front of him had been with him since he was three years old, for at least fifteen or sixteen years. A hint of worry flashed across the boy's calm face. "Did you shake him off?"

"They're all dead!" The blood-covered man cupped his hands, bowed his head, and spoke with utmost respect. Then he looked up at the boy and saw the boy's abnormally flushed face. He was greatly worried—his face was covered in blood, so his worry was not apparent.

"Young Master, you? You've had another episode?"

They traveled south from the capital for inspection, keeping a low profile the whole way, but they were still discovered. Moreover, those people were incredibly audacious, actually attacking the young master without any regard for kinship. If he hadn't fought back desperately, the young master wouldn't have been able to escape.

"It's nothing!" the boy waved his hand dismissively. "It's all over now."

That's good!

The bloodied man breathed a sigh of relief.

However, his appearance did not please the boy. The boy was a germaphobe, and seeing such a blood-soaked figure in front of him was simply unbearable. He stared at the blood-soaked figure for a long time and asked, "Are our clothes still here?"

"Here I am!"

The boy looked away, turned around and walked forward. "Let's go wash up!"

"Yes!" The blood man always obeyed the boy's every word, but he inadvertently discovered that the boy's jade pendant was not on him, and he was immediately shocked. "Second Master, where is your jade pendant?"
