But she still held onto Bai Yu, replying apologetically, "Okay, I understand. Thank you for your help, Uncle. We still need to bring him back."
"No trouble at all..." Boss Bai waved his hand, turned around and left.
Seeing that Boss Bai had left and there was no one around, Bai Nuo's face darkened immediately. She flung Bai Yu's hand away and looked at him coldly, "Tell me, what's wrong with you? Where did you go that you had to be brought back? And what's wrong with your face?"
Bai Nuo was too embarrassed to ask when Bai Laoda was being honest, but Bai Yu's face was so swollen it looked like a pig's head that it was hard for Bai Nuo not to notice.
"Wow!" Bai Yu burst into tears the moment Bai Nuo opened her mouth, revealing two missing front teeth. Bai Nuo exclaimed in pain and quickly pinched Bai Yu's chin, asking, "Where are your teeth? Did you go into a fight?"
"No..." Bai Yu wiped away his tears with his arm and said indistinctly through his tears, "Bai Dalin hit me. Bai Dalin came looking for something again and lied to me. I didn't give it to him, so he hit me!"
Ayu immediately threw himself into Bai Nuo's arms. He had cried from the pain during the day, but now he was crying his eyes out from feeling so wronged.
Now, Ayu doesn't call Bai Dalin "Dad" anymore; he calls him by his name.
That beast!
Bai Nuo knew that Bai Yu was losing his baby teeth. Bai Yu told Bai Nuo when his teeth became loose, but those teeth were definitely not yet due to fall out. However, Bai Dalin knocked them out.
How much pain must Bai Yu be in?
"Alright, alright, don't cry..." Bai Nuo patted Bai Yu's head and comforted him, "Wait for your sister to deal with him, okay? Don't cry, your sister will make you something delicious when we get back."
Then, she pulled Bai Yu out and wiped away his tears. "Shall we go home? You ran away, but Grandma is still waiting for us at home."
When they entered the house, it was almost completely dark. The whole room was dark. Bai Nuo put down the basket and gestured for Bai Yu to stop crying before turning on the lamp.
"Grandma, I'm back..." Bai Nuo walked to the bedside and called out. Grandma hadn't been asleep, and she opened her eyes as soon as she heard Bai Nuo's voice. "You're back?"
"Yes, I got back a little late today. Are you hungry? I'll make you some food right now." Bai Nuo said as she helped the old woman turn over. Seeing that the old woman's body was very dry, she sent A Yu out before asking, "Do you need to use the restroom?"
The old woman shook her head. She hadn't drunk much water all day, so she didn't feel like going to the toilet. "Help me up and sit for a while. Lying down is too tiring."
"I'll make you a wheelchair another day, then you'll be able to sit up." Bai Nuo smiled and reached out to support the old woman's head, but unexpectedly touched a soaking wet towel. She froze, looking at the old woman, "Grandma...you..." She had just said she didn't want to go to the bathroom, but why was there a wet towel here? It clearly wasn't there when she left. Could it be that the old woman...
"No... I accidentally got wet..." The old woman saw the towel and, seeing that Bai Nuo had misunderstood, quickly said, "I wanted to drink water, but A Yu went out, and no one poured me any, so I knocked over the kettle. Nuo Nuo, it's all my fault for being useless. Don't blame me."
"It's nothing..." Seeing that it wasn't urine, Bai Nuo stopped talking and helped the old woman sit up against the headboard. "It's our fault. We should have left someone to watch over you."
It seems we need to find an older woman to take care of Grandma. Although Bai Yu can stay at home, he is still a child, and a boy at that, so it's not very convenient for him to take care of Grandma. It would be more appropriate for someone to come and take care of Grandma. Also, if there are adults at home, Bai Dalin wouldn't dare to come and cause trouble all the time.
"Ah, when people get old, they become useless and only cause you trouble. It would be better to die..." the old woman sighed softly.
"What nonsense are you talking about..." Bai Nuo was really unhappy to hear this, but she couldn't get angry at her grandmother. Anyone would be devastated if a perfectly healthy person suddenly became paralyzed. Even though her grandmother seemed fine these past few days, she was probably devastated inside.
“We were hoping you would live to be a hundred years old, to see Ah Yu and me get married and start a family, so you could take care of my children in the future. Grandma, please don’t let anything happen to you. My mother is dead, and my father remarried and his stepmother doesn’t care about us. It’s better to have no one at all. If you die, Ah Yu and I will really have no relatives left in this world.”
"Silly child..." Grandma patted Bai Nuo's head and suddenly laughed, "Grandma was just teasing you, go and cook."
"Sigh..." Bai Nuo responded, went out to call A Yu over to keep Grandma company, and then went into the kitchen to cook.
After putting the rice in the pot to cook, Bai Nuo started cooking. She had just bought pork ribs, meat, vegetables, and a piece of winter melon.
For dinner, she planned to make stir-fried pork ribs, winter melon and lean pork soup, and stir-fried vegetables. Since the weather is hot now, the winter melon and lean pork soup can help cool down the body and is suitable for the elderly and children.
First, clean the ribs and then chop them into small pieces. Marinate them with coarse salt, oil, and soy sauce. Then, Bai Nuo went to pick lean meat and marinated it in the same way. After processing the meat, Bai Nuo went to pick some green vegetables.
The greens I bought today are water spinach. The water spinach is tender and just right. I can make a stir-fried water spinach with minced garlic. It's simple and delicious.
Just as Bai Nuo finished washing the water spinach, the rice started cooking. After setting the water spinach aside, she went to cook winter melon and lean pork soup.
