Xiao Zhan had someone fetch water, and he personally washed Jiang Wei's face, wiping away all the dirt and grime. He also washed Jiang Wei's hands.
His eyes were full of tenderness and heartache as he softly asked her, "Are you still afraid?"
Jiang Wei shook her head.
"Let me see where you're hurt?" Xiao Zhan gently grasped her wrist and rolled up her clothes.
His wrists were red and swollen, with many cracks in the skin. Xiao Zhan's eyes turned cold as he pulled out two small medicine bottles from his pocket.
One was a top-quality wound medicine, which Xiao Zhan sprinkled evenly on Jiang Wei's wrist. After sprinkling it, he picked up the ointment next to him and gently applied it to Jiang Wei's palm.
After everything was set up, he said, "Sit here and wait for me."
Jiang Wei nodded.
Xiao Zhan tucked a strand of hair behind Jiang Wei's ear, got up, and walked to the door.
He gave a few instructions in a voice that Jiang Wei couldn't hear. Then he returned to the room.
"Let's go back!" Xiao Zhan reached out to hug Jiang Wei.
Jiang Wei felt a little embarrassed, lowered her head, and said with a blush, "I can walk by myself."
Xiao Zhan acted as if he hadn't heard, picked up Jiang Wei and left, saying, "It's dark and the roads are slippery at night, and you're still injured."
Jiang Wei was in his arms, too shy to speak.
After Xiao Zhan carried her out the door, as if to prove that he was telling the truth, he stumbled.
Jiang Wei quickly hugged Xiao Zhan's neck and rested her head in his chest.
In the darkness, Xiao Zhan's mouth curved like a crescent moon, revealing a row of silver teeth.
Perhaps she was too tired from all the day's activities, Jiang Wei nestled peacefully in Xiao Zhan's arms and fell asleep.
Xiao Zhan held Jiang Wei in his arms on the carriage, refusing to let her sit down and just holding her like that.
She also told the coachman to drive slowly and not to bump the carriage so as not to wake her up.
Xiao Zhan just kept holding her like that, smiling foolishly.
'She trusts him.' This was another thing that made him happy.
Xiao Zhan carried Jiang Wei the whole way without feeling tired. Instead, he thought Jiang Wei was too thin and must not eat enough.
Jiang Wei unconsciously nuzzled against his chest in her sleep, and he felt overjoyed as if he had entered heaven.
Xiao Zhan just stared at Jiang Wei's sleeping face.
