Chapter 42 Just playing around

Jiang Rou shrank back in fear. "You...you...what do you want to do?"

"What? What do you think I want to do?" Jiang Wei slapped her hard across the face.

"Nothing much! Just playing around! Anyway, you're my sister, so I can hit you if I want to," Jiang Wei said casually.

"How dare you! How dare you! How dare you hit me!" Jiang Rou looked at Jiang Wei in disbelief.

"I told you, you're not qualified to touch my things. Are you out of your mind? And don't go to my maternal grandparents' house either, it's no use. I've already done my limit by not hitting you at the Chen family's house today." Jiang Wei warned, patting her face again.

"I knew it was you gossiping behind my back that made them dislike me," Jiang Rou said resentfully, covering her face with a knowing look.

"What are you doing?" Jiang Zaishui's angry voice came from above their heads.

Jiang Rou gave Jiang Wei a defiant look; now that her father had arrived.

Jiang Wei won't get away with this; she'll make sure to get her revenge for the humiliation she just suffered.

Jiang Rou concealed the smugness in her eyes, and her delicate sobs reached Jiang Wei's ears as she covered her eyes with her hand.

Jiang Wei sneered, "That's all you know."

Jiang Wei slowly stood up, looking coldly at Jiang Zaishui, without bowing.

Jiang Zai Shui glared angrily at Jiang Wei, "What an unruly fellow!"

He was embarrassed to lose face in front of outsiders, so he turned to look at Song Tingxuan.

He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Song Tingxuan had already walked towards Jiang Rou.

Song Tingxuan pulled Jiang Rou into his arms. "I know you're angry with me. Didn't you already have the Marquis's mansion emptied out? Why are you still using Rou'er to vent your anger? She's your sister."

"Rou'er, is there anywhere that hurts? Can you stand up? I'll help you," Song Tingxuan said with utmost gentleness.

Song Tingxuan was truly afraid of spoiling Jiang Rou.

Jiang Rou glanced timidly at Jiang Wei, "Brother Xuan, I'm fine, I can get up by myself."

“You don’t need to be afraid of her, we’ve already broken off our engagement.” Song Tingxuan helped Jiang Rou slowly get up.

Jiang Wei was truly amazed by Song Tingxuan's shamelessness, and instead of being angry, she laughed.

What do you mean she emptied the Marquis's mansion? Didn't she buy all those things?

Too lazy to watch their affected mannerisms any longer, she spoke up: "Is Prince Song here to propose marriage to my younger sister?"

Jiang Rou looked at Song Tingxuan hopefully, hoping he would answer yes, so that she would have a clear advantage over Jiang Wei.

From then on, Jiang Wei could only be jealous of her.

Song Tingxuan was hit where it hurt by Jiang Wei. He wanted to come and ask for his beloved Rou'er's hand in marriage.

But his mother told him that they all thought Jiang Wei would definitely marry into their family, so they accepted the things Jiang Wei sent to the Marquis's mansion and threw away the old things from the original mansion, just so that Jiang Wei could live more comfortably after marrying into it.

Now that Jiang Wei isn't marrying him and has moved all her belongings away, the Marquis's mansion has added a lot of things to avoid being laughed at, almost emptying its coffers.

I fear the days ahead will be difficult, so I asked him to use the guise of expressing my gratitude to inquire about Jiang Rou's situation.

He didn't want it to be like this, but his mother said so.

Every time Jiang Rou visited the Marquis's residence, she would intentionally or unintentionally mention how good the Chen family had been to her.

This time, they even gave her such fine fish and shrimp, and sent so many to the Marquis's residence.

His mother thought that he should come and see how much dowry Jiang Rou would have. If the dowry was indeed substantial, she would marry her this year to make up for the deficit and have a decent New Year.

In any case, everything for the wedding at the Marquis's residence has been prepared; it's just a matter of changing the person in charge.

"I will come to propose marriage, but we haven't found a suitable matchmaker yet," Song Tingxuan said, sounding guilty but stubborn.

Jiang Rou felt as sweet as if she had eaten honey when she heard Song Tingxuan say that.

She nestled gently into Song Tingxuan's arms and called out sweetly, "Brother Xuan..."

"Hmm." Song Yanxuan made a sound through his nose.

Jiang Wei couldn't help but laugh when she heard Song Yanxuan speak.

She thought their relationship was so good, but it turns out it all came down to deception.

"Brother Xuan and Sister are just too angry, that's why they're acting like this. After all, she can't marry you anymore." Jiang Rou thought Jiang Wei was acting this way because she was unwilling to accept it.

Fortunately, she made the right decision that day; she is now the future wife of the heir apparent.

Jiang Wei glanced at Jiang Rou as if she were an idiot and said something completely nonsensical.

Jiang Rou assumed she was just jealous.

"Then I'll wait and see." Jiang Wei stared coldly at Song Yanxuan. "Is the stolen food tasty?" She glanced at him for only one second before looking away as if she had seen something dirty.

Song Tingxuan was somewhat confused.

"I'm tired, so I won't disturb your discussion about your marriage any longer." Jiang Wei walked towards her courtyard.

Jiang Zai Shui's hands, clasped behind his back, clenched into fists, veins bulging.

But with outsiders present, he held back his anger, not wanting to cause a scene and lose face.

Jiang Zai Shui forced a stiff smile. "Young Master, please don't take it to heart. She's just that immature."

Jiang Rou panicked for a moment, then quickly followed Jiang Zai Shui's lead and said, "Yes, Brother Xuan, you must have seen this funny. Let's go have some tea and rest for a while."

"In the end, it's all because of me, but you can't force feelings." Song Yanxuan sighed and helped Jiang Rou walk beside Jiang Zaishui.

Jiang Wei returned to her courtyard and had Yu Zhu bring her hot water for a relaxing bath. These past few days, she had been traveling and the constant jolting on the roads had almost broken her bones.

I feel much better after taking a hot bath.

She put on her nightgown and lay down on the bed to rest, asking Yuzhu to wake her before dinner.
