Chapter 34 Delivering Food to Shen Mo (1)
Jiang Ning carried a lunchbox and went out with Sister Li.
In September, the sweltering heat has passed, and the autumn weather is refreshing and pleasant, with even a gentle breeze bringing coolness.
Along the way, you'll always run into people who have just finished work and are heading home for dinner.
Sister-in-law Li seemed to know everyone well, and she could strike up a conversation with anyone who passed by.
Although he greeted passersby from time to time, he never stopped walking.
Jiang Ning praised her skills.
Every now and then, someone would cast a glance at her, to which Jiang Ning would politely return a smile.
With Sister Li leading the charge, all she had to do was sit back and be a smiling doll.
People nowadays are simple and honest, without so many hidden thoughts; their thoughts are written all over their faces.
Anyway, anyone who passes by and manages to say hello to Sister Li will compliment Jiang Ning on her beauty.
Who doesn't like to be praised?
Jiang Ning is beautiful, and she knows it herself.
At this moment, in the military camp, in the regimental commander's office.
Commander Li glanced at the man who said he was sleepy and wanted to take a nap in his office.
Commander Li couldn't understand it. "I said, why don't you go home to sleep? What are you sleeping here for? You've been training all morning, aren't you tired or hungry?"
Shen Mo sat upright in the chair, closing his eyes to rest.
He was tired and hungry, but he didn't want to eat at the cafeteria.
After eating his wife's cooking for a few days, the food in the cafeteria tasted like cardboard. Last night, he didn't go home for dinner and ate at the cafeteria again, which was unusual. It wasn't that the food was bad, but he just didn't have much of an appetite.
He stayed in the army for a while before returning home. As a result, he was surrounded by a beautiful woman, which kept him awake, but the girl in his arms slept soundly.
So he got up early to make breakfast, and then rushed to the camp to ring the bell for training. He spent the whole morning using up all his energy.
Commander Li knew he wasn't asleep, so he struck up a conversation with him, "I heard there were a lot of cries of pain on the training field today. What's wrong with you today? You're acting a bit strange."
He still had to answer the commander's questions, so he said, "Training them is for their own good..."
Before he could finish speaking, Commander Li interrupted him, saying, "More lives on the battlefield."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a head popped into the commander's office.
Commander Li said sternly, "How many times have I told you? Knock before you enter."
Yang Zhengtu chuckled and said, "It's lunch break time, you see. Normally I would knock properly."
After speaking, he looked at Shen Mo sitting to the side. He had been trained hard this morning and was a little intimidated by Shen Mo, but as the hope of his comrades, he said, "Deputy Regiment Commander Shen, brothers... my comrades asked me to ask you when training starts this afternoon so they can be mentally prepared."
Yang Zhengtu rubbed his hands together, looking expectant. "It would be best if training could start an hour later."
Shen Mo glanced at him indifferently, "Tell them to start training half an hour earlier."
"Huh?" Yang Zhengtu suddenly looked up, met Shen Mo's cold gaze, and then lowered his head again. "Oh."
Then he dragged his weary body and turned to leave.
He failed his brothers' trust; he is a sinner.
Commander Li found it somewhat amusing to see Yang Zhengtu leave, then raised an eyebrow and said, "Something seems off to me. Are you trying to exhaust them, or are you trying to exhaust yourself?"
He noticed the occasional fatigue in Shen Mo's eyes; it was obvious that he himself seemed to be struggling, especially with such intense training scheduled for the afternoon.
Something is wrong. This is very wrong.
But he couldn't tell what was wrong.
Commander Li glanced at the time on the wall and urged him on, "You'd better hurry up and go to the canteen for lunch. Your sister-in-law is coming over later to bring me some pig's trotter soup, so you don't end up craving it."
Shen Mo nodded and stood up. He couldn't eat anymore, so he decided to go back to the training field for a while.
If only his wife could bring him meals like Sister Li does.
Jiang Ning and Sister-in-law Li chatted and laughed as they entered the regimental commander's office.
Jiang Ning originally intended to ask any soldier where Shen Mo was, but Sister Li pulled her to the regimental commander's office, saying that Shen Mo could eat in the commander's office and there would be a place to sit.
Commander Li was also surprised to see Jiang Ning appear with his wife. He knew from the lunchbox in her hand that she was there to deliver food to Shen Mo.
He should have known better than to have chased Shen Mo away.
Commander Li summoned his orderly and asked him to call Shen Mo to his office.
Knowing that Jiang Ning brought the food over because Shen Mo hadn't come home for dinner, Commander Li carefully chose his words and asked, "Jiang Ning, have you and Shen Mo had a fight these past few days?"
"No, I don't think so." Jiang Ning thought about it carefully.
Commander Li, with a stern face, lectured the couple, saying, "Conflicts between husband and wife must be resolved quickly, otherwise it will affect their relationship."
Sister-in-law Li defended Jiang Ning, saying, "Don't scare Jiang Ning with that stern face. I think even if they had a fight, it's Xiao Shen's fault. He hasn't been coming home for dinner, and Jiang Ning even felt sorry for him and brought him food over."
Sister-in-law Li was about to tell them about how Jiang Ning had saved their daughter that day when, at that moment, Commander Li's orderly returned, but there was nothing behind him.
The orderly reported, "Commander, Deputy Regiment Commander Shen just strained his ligaments on the training field and is in the infirmary right now."
"A muscle strain?" Commander Li frowned.
Before the orderly could say anything, a beautiful woman, who looked like a fairy, suddenly stood in front of him.
Jiang Ning felt a sudden surge of anxiety. "Please take me to the infirmary."
The orderly stared blankly for a few seconds before quickly looking at Commander Li.
Regiment Commander Li originally wanted to go and see for himself, but with the woman's wife here, it wasn't his place to go. "This is Deputy Regiment Commander Shen's wife, you take her there."
"Oh, please follow me."
The orderly came out of the office first to lead the way.
Jiang Ning took a couple of steps, then remembered something, turned back, picked up the lunchbox from the table, and followed the orderly away.
Jiang Ning followed the orderly quickly toward the infirmary. Seeing how fast she was walking, the orderly also quickened his pace.
Medical room.
Shen Mo frowned as he looked at the female doctor standing in front of him. The female doctor, who was wearing a mask, wanted to reach out and unbutton his clothes to check his strained area, but Shen Mo dodged her.
"Could you please call a male doctor over for me?" Shen Mo said.
He remembered that most of the doctors in the camp's medical clinic were male, so when did a female doctor appear?
Seeing that he had dodged it, the female doctor immediately took off her mask, revealing a fairly pretty face, and said with a smile, "Shen Mo, it's me."
Shen Mo looked at the unfamiliar face in front of him. He didn't have a deep impression of it, and his expression was still very puzzled.
When the female doctor saw that Shen Mo didn't recognize her, a fleeting look of disappointment crossed her eyes, but she quickly rallied. "Do you remember the medical reserve team we rescued in the old military region? I was a member of that reserve team."
Shen Mo has saved so many people in the ten years he has served in the army that he has no recollection of them at all.
He said with an expression as calm as still water, "Sorry, I don't remember it very well."
The female doctor's expression showed even greater disappointment. "It's okay, if you don't remember, you don't remember."
Then she extended her hand to Shen Mo, "Hello, let's get to know each other now. My name is Yan Liyue. Thank you for saving me back then."
Shen Mo remained calm, "You're welcome."
Seeing that Shen Mo didn't intend to shake her hand, Yan Liyue awkwardly withdrew her hand, then tried to make amends, "I forgot you strained your shoulder. Take off your clothes first and let me check it out for you."
Shen Mo frowned. It was just a minor strain and wouldn't have much of an impact. He could just apply some ointment and it would be fine. He wouldn't have come if his soldiers hadn't seen him fall off the obstacle and insisted that he come to the infirmary.
