Chapter 230 The Unwelcome Father and Son
Fu Xingyi kept crying and making a fuss next to Jiang Ranxing, which clearly annoyed her.
After hearing Jiang Ranxing say this, Fu Xingyi also remembered what he had said to Jiang Ranxing before.
"I don't want you to be my mom! I want Aunt Xue Sha to be my mom!"
"Mommy is mean! I don't like Mommy! I wish Aunt Xuesha was my mommy!"
Those words he shouted at Jiang Ranxing without restraint have now become boomerangs, unconsciously piercing his own body.
Fu Xingyi felt wronged and didn't know what to say, so he could only tug his little hand closer to Jiang Ranxing and rub against her leg, his words full of pleading.
Jiang Ranxing neither hugged him nor offered him any comfort.
Fu Xingyi's unreasonable behavior at this moment was really exhausting for her to deal with.
"Yiyi, acting cute won't work anymore, don't do that."
Jiang Ranxing's voice did not contain the tenderness and affection that Fu Xingyi had expected.
Fu Xingyi stood up straight, blinked her big eyes at Jiang Ranxing, hesitated for a while, and then mumbled, "Mom, I was wrong. I was immature before. I shouldn't have acted like that with you. I'm sorry."
Jiang Ranxing looked up at Fu Xingyi, who had his head down, and could see that he was at a loss.
Children should apologize when they do something wrong, so adults shouldn't hold it against them.
But Jiang Ranxing could tell that when Fu Xingyi said those words, he was clearly speaking from the bottom of his heart.
Children's words are often described as innocent and unfiltered, but children are also not very good at lying.
Fu Xingyi felt even more uneasy when he saw that Jiang Ranxing hadn't spoken for a long time.
"Mom, can you forgive me? I want to be your child again. I want your love. Please love me like you used to."
Faced with Fu Xingyi's sincere question, it was impossible for her not to feel any emotional fluctuation. However, that fluctuation was limited to preventing her from saying anything too harsh to Fu Xingyi and keeping her somewhat kind.
Jiang Ranxing shook his head and said, "No, Yiyi, some things, once lost, can never be the same again."
Upon hearing this, Fu Xingyi gripped Jiang Ranxing's clothes even tighter, his small hands desperately tugging at a mother who didn't want him.
Fu Xingyi didn't quite understand why his mother had become like this!
Before, no matter what he did, his mother would unconditionally spoil and love him. Why is it different now?
He is his mother's child, that's an unchanging fact!
But Fu Xingyi overlooked this point: facts may not change, but people can, and his mother's attitude could change.
Fu Xingyi wouldn't let go, clinging to Jiang Ranxing and refusing to let go no matter what, crying and making a scene, which really gave Jiang Ranxing a headache.
"Yiyi, can you stop making noise? Mommy is a little tired and wants to rest."
Jiang Ranxing said helplessly, rubbing his forehead, and glanced back at the nanny.
"Take Yiyi back to his room, or take him to the restaurant for dinner. I'm going upstairs to rest."
The nanny responded from the side, "Yes, madam, young master, come with me."
The nanny tried to pull Fu Xingyi away, but he shook her off immediately: "No! I want to eat with Mom, I want to sleep with Mom!"
I don't know what's wrong with Fu Xingyi today. He just keeps sticking to Jiang Ranxing like a baby who hasn't been weaned.
Unfortunately, Jiang Ranxing felt very tired and had no mood to deal with him.
Jiang Ranxing's tone became stern, and his eyes turned serious.
"Yiyi! Be good, don't make a fuss."
Jiang Ranxing didn't want to really make a big deal out of a child. Fu Xingyi had many characteristics that were very different from hers. To be honest, these bad habits were definitely not things she would teach her child.
A child who doesn't get to eat candy will always feel resentful.
Fu Xingyi shouted decisively, "Mom, if you stay with me, I won't eat! If I don't eat, I'll get low blood sugar and then I'll faint!"
Jiang Ranxing was somewhat incredulous. She squatted down to be at eye level with Fu Xingyi. After the mother and son stared at each other for a while, Jiang Ranxing turned to the butler and said, "Bring the ruler over."
Upon hearing this, the butler quickly went to the study and took out a bamboo ruler from the bookcase.
After Jiang Ranxing took it, he said to Fu Xingyi, "Hold out your hand."
"Mom, what are you going to do..." Fu Xingyi already had a feeling of what he was about to face, but he never expected that this would actually be something his gentlest mother would do.
Jiang Ranxing spoke calmly, saying, "Since you want your mother to discipline you, then you should be punished for doing something that violates principles."
Fu Xingyi didn't think she had done anything wrong, and cried out pitifully, "I didn't do anything wrong! I just wanted my mom to care about me, what's wrong with that!"
Jiang Ranxing simply said, "Hold out your hand, or I won't care about anything else you do."
"What did I do wrong that Mommy hit me?! Why is Mommy hitting me?!"
Fu Xingyi cried and screamed, feeling extremely wronged: "Mom wasn't like this before! Give me back my old mom! Give her back to me! Mom never hit me! Waaaaah!!"
Fu Xingyi insisted on crying and making a scene, demanding that Jiang Ranxing return his former mother to him.
Jiang Ranxing was somewhat helpless, but Fu Xingyi's words just now were clearly wrong.
Jiang Ranxing lowered his hand and said, "The mother you mentioned before has disappeared. You lost her yourself, and I can't give her back to you."
Fu Xingyi's little face was covered in tears, and he kept crying and refusing to give up.
"Give me back my mother! Give me back my mother!"
Jiang Ranxing paused, raised the hand holding the ruler and tapped Fu Xingyi's hand lightly, then handed the ruler back to Fu Xingyi.
"If you don't accept my teachings, go find someone else you want to be taught. I'm not going to care about you anymore."
After saying that, Jiang Ranxing ignored Fu Xingyi's unreasonable tantrums and simply spoke to the housekeeper and nanny.
"Keep an eye on your young master, don't let him hurt himself."
Looking at Fu Xingyi's appearance, the nanny knew that she might not be able to persuade him either, and she still hoped that Jiang Ranxing could keep an eye on Fu Xingyi.
"Madam, the young master listens to you the most. Please don't be angry with him; he's still young after all," the nanny advised.
Jiang Ranxing chuckled: "You already know this. This kid understands everything. He's just deliberately throwing a tantrum in hopes that I'll let him do whatever he wants. Do you think that's right?"
The nanny said, "But Madam, the young master is your own child. Don't you feel sorry for him?"
Jiang Ranxing turned to look at Fu Xingyi, her mind filled with a myriad of thoughts.
"You should show your compassion to those who deserve it. Blindly showing compassion without thinking will only lead to more mistakes."
Before the nanny could say anything more, Jiang Ranxing stopped her: "That's enough. Just do as I say and don't say anything more."
After finishing his sentence, Jiang Ranxing went upstairs and returned to his room.
Fu Xingyi was in a bad mood, and when the servants brought the food over, he refused to eat.
Not eating will naturally cause hypoglycemia. Fu Xingyi was dizzy this time and refused to eat. He sat sullenly in the living room on the first floor. As his strength waned, his lips turned pale.
Seeing the young master like this, the nanny was extremely anxious. Just then, there was a noise at the door. After seeing it, the nanny seemed to have divine help and quickly went over.
As soon as Fu Shenyuan changed his shoes, he sensed the heavy atmosphere in the villa and asked, "What's going on?"
The nanny immediately told Fu Shenyuan everything that had happened during the day.
"Madam is at her wits' end with the young master, who is sulking and refusing to eat. Sir, what should we do?"
Upon hearing that Fu Xingyi had low blood sugar, Fu Shenyuan strode over and hugged his small body.
"Quick, go get some food." Fu Shenyuan frowned and ordered, his expression full of anxiety and worry.
Fu Shenyuan patted Fu Xingyi's little face and whispered, "Yiyi, don't sleep, Yiyi, listen to Daddy, get up and eat something."
Fu Shenyuan's voice was like a gentle voice used to coax a baby. Fu Xingyi slowly opened his eyes after hearing it, and his little hands gripped Fu Shenyuan's shirt tightly.
"Dad...you're back..."
Fu Shenyuan lowered his head, getting close to his son's face, smiled slightly, and murmured, "Daddy's here. Get up and eat, okay, Yiyi?"
Fu Xingyi pouted, looking aggrieved, and snuggled closer to Fu Shenyuan's chest. Fu Shenyuan felt a pang of heartache seeing her like that.
"Stop being temperamental and get up to eat."
As Fu Shenyuan was speaking, the nanny had already brought a bowl of shrimp porridge and was waiting on the side: "Sir, please give me the young master, I will feed him."
Fu Shenyuan looked at it and held out a free hand: "Give it to me, I'll feed it."
The nanny was somewhat alarmed. When had the master ever fed the young master like this?
“Sir, I can handle this. Please sit down and rest.”
Fu Shenyuan glanced at her, and the nanny immediately handed him the bowl of porridge.
Fu Shenyuan supported Fu Xingyi's back with one hand, pulling him close to his chest, and with the other hand, he scooped up a spoonful of porridge, blew on it, and then fed it to Fu Xingyi.
Fu Xingyi obediently finished a small bowl of shrimp porridge, and his lips gradually regained some color. After resting for a while, Fu Xingyi finally regained some energy.
Fu Xingyi looked at him with her big, watery eyes, repeatedly saying the word "Dad," and hugged Fu Shenyuan's neck, rubbing against him like a young wolf cub.
Fu Shenyuan was very patient and not angry. He patted Fu Xingyi's back a few times before he realized something was wrong.
He probed Fu Xingyi's forehead twice with his long fingers, and then realized what was going on after touching his own forehead with his son's.
"Butler, call the doctor! Yiyi has a fever!"
Without hesitation, the housekeeper immediately contacted the villa's private doctor and explained the situation.
The doctor arrived quickly. After taking Fu Xingyi's temperature and performing a simple examination, he said to Fu Shenyuan, "Sir, the young master caught a cold due to the recent temperature difference. It's alright. After the IV drip, he will gradually get better by drinking more water."
Fu Shenyuan nodded, then turned to look at Fu Xingyi, who was lying on the children's bed with his eyes closed, still unconsciously acting spoiled. He felt a lump in his throat.
After becoming close to his son, his cold soul began to grow again.
He sat down by Fu Xingyi's bedside and picked up the little hand that was receiving the IV drip. Because of the cold medicine, his little hand was also cold.
Fu Shenyuan warmed him with the heat of his hands and rubbed him a few times to soothe him. Fu Xingyi quickly calmed down, and with the sleep-inducing ingredients in the medicine, he blinked and closed his eyes, slowly falling asleep.
Fu Shenyuan sat by Fu Xingyi's bedside until he finished his IV drip. Fu Xingyi hugged his beloved little doll, turned over, and went back to sleep. Only then did Fu Shenyuan get up and quietly leave his son's bedroom.
After quietly closing the door, Fu Shenyuan thought for a moment, then walked to Jiang Ranxing's bedroom door and knocked.
"Are you asleep, Ranxing? I have something I want to tell you."
After a while, no one answered him from the bedroom. He raised his hand and knocked twice more, and the same question was asked.
Jiang Ranxing seemed to have no intention of paying attention to him at all. Fu Shenyuan did not give up and stood outside the door, speaking through the door.
“Yiyi didn’t mean to upset you today. He has a fever. Children can’t tell if it’s because he’s sick or just unhappy. He’s just being difficult. Please don’t blame Yiyi.”
Fu Shenyuan thought of what Fu Xingyi had said and felt somewhat uneasy.
"Don't take what Yiyi said to heart, he just..."
"What is he?"
The door in front of Fu Shenyuan was suddenly pulled open, and Jiang Ranxing appeared in front of him wearing metal-rimmed glasses. Clearly, she was dealing with work, as she only wore glasses when she was working.
Fu Shenyuan didn't continue speaking, but instead said, "I'm sorry for disturbing your work."
Since he had already disturbed her, there was no point in Jiang Ranxing saying anything more.
"How is Yiyi now?" Jiang Ranxing asked.
"He's on an IV drip and is sleeping right now. He seems alright."
Jiang Ranxing nodded. She wouldn't neglect her child even when he was sick, but hearing about his condition put her at ease.
Seeing that her expression had softened, Fu Shenyuan continued speaking.
“Yiyi was just delirious from a fever today, that’s why he said those things to you. He doesn’t really mean it. He loves you very much.”
Jiang Ranxing crossed her arms and looked at him: "How do you know what the child is thinking? Did you really ask him yourself?"
Fu Shenyuan looked at her and said, "I know, because he is my son, and we both feel the same way about you."
Jiang Ranxing paused, a glint of light flashing across the lens of his glasses.
"Okay, I won't mention what I said to Yiyi today. As for what you wanted to say, don't bring it up again. My attitude towards the two of you is the same as before: I don't want to be with you."
Upon hearing this, Fu Shenyuan suddenly chuckled, his heart being pierced by several wounds that ached without drawing blood.
“I never knew you were such a hard-hearted person. I had bad judgment and couldn’t see people clearly,” Fu Shenyuan murmured.
No one could have imagined that a person as gentle as water, always full of love, could be more ruthless than anyone else in the moment of a change of heart.
If you say you're not giving someone a chance, then you're not giving them any possibility at all. No matter how much effort they put in, it's all in vain. What could be more frustrating and disheartening than that?
Jiang Ranxing asked doubtfully, "Are you blaming me?"
Fu Shenyuan shook his head.
Jiang Ranxing smiled, a gentle yet profound smile that left Fu Shenyuan momentarily unable to decipher.
Jiang Ranxing raised an eyebrow and said, "Since you know I'm hard-hearted, why don't you take your son and stay away from me? That way, we won't bother each other, wouldn't that be better?"
The light in Fu Shenyuan's eyes was so faint it was almost pitiful.
He looked at the person in front of him, but couldn't bring himself to hold her in his arms.
Even knowing that she was ice and a rose with thorns, he still wanted to walk towards her without hesitation.
