Chapter 229 Her Diary
Fu Shenyuan smiled helplessly, looked at Jiang Ranxing, and said, "This really wasn't my decision; Tan Shen probably made a mistake."
This time, Fu Shenyuan was truly telling the truth.
"Knowing that you are resisting me now, how could I possibly force you?" Fu Shenyuan spread his hands, indicating his innocence.
Jiang Ranxing raised an eyebrow slightly, wondering if she had really misunderstood Fu Shenyuan.
Jiang Ranxing apologized somewhat embarrassedly, then turned and left the hotel.
As soon as Fu Shenyuan took the room key, he hurriedly followed her out, reaching out to block Jiang Ranxing's path: "Where are you going?"
Jiang Ranxing stared at him with her bright eyes: "Go find a hotel, or what else can we do?"
Fu Shenyuan pointed around: "This isn't a city, it's a small town. This is the only hotel of this size here, there aren't any others."
“Young Master, that’s you,” Jiang Ranxing said irritably. “When I was a kid, I lived in all kinds of houses. After I was beaten by my family, I even lived in a warehouse. Do you think I can’t stay in a budget hotel with air conditioning and 24-hour hot water?”
Jiang Ranxing's meaning was quite clear: she disliked Fu Shenyuan for being a pampered young master and found him pretentious.
Fu Shenyuan grabbed her arm and said, "No, I don't trust you. Let's stay in this hotel room. You can sleep on the bed and I'll sleep on the sofa."
Jiang Ranxing chuckled and shook his head: "No need, I can have a room all to myself. You stay here, see you tomorrow morning."
Seeing that Jiang Ranxing was still determined to leave, Fu Shenyuan followed her.
Jiang Ranxing saw the tall man beside her in the night, his lips tightly pursed as he followed her. She shook her head helplessly.
Just as she had thought, she no longer wanted to bother with Fu Shenyuan's actions and words. She couldn't push him away anyway, and it would be a waste of her energy, so she decided to let him be.
One day he'll get fed up and leave, and then she'll finally have some peace and quiet.
The two arrived at a budget hotel two kilometers away that was lit up, but when they went in to ask, they found that there were no rooms available.
The hotel owner's eyes lit up when he saw that the two people were dressed like wealthy people.
"Gentlemen, although we don't have any rooms available in our shop, my house is right next door and it's also empty. Why don't you stay there? I won't charge you extra; just give me whatever you think is appropriate."
The hotel owner figured that rich people are always willing to spend more than they can handle, so he figured he'd make a profit.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ranxing waved his hand and said, "Never mind, thank you."
Jiang Ranxing turned around again, and could only helplessly ask Fu Shenyuan, "I'll sleep on the bed and you'll sleep on the sofa, is that a deal?"
Fu Shenyuan crossed his arms and smiled: "It's a promise, I won't lie to you."
Jiang Ranxing didn't say anything more, and the two of them returned to the same hotel they had started at.
After taking the room key, they still stayed in the same room. Of course, Fu Shenyuan kept his word and did not do anything inappropriate to Jiang Ranxing. He simply lay down on the sofa.
When Jiang Ranxing turned around to get a towel, she saw that he, who was nearly 1.9 meters tall, was shrunk on the sofa, which was only 1.5 meters wide, with half of his legs on the ground. She also felt that he looked a bit ridiculous and pitiful.
But Jiang Ranxing didn't feel that she needed to pity him because of this.
Jiang Ranxing glanced at it and then went straight to the bathroom. After taking a shower, she lay down on the bed to rest and turned off the light.
In the darkness, Fu Shenyuan, who was sleeping on the sofa with her arms crossed, slowly opened her eyes. By the bright moonlight, she looked at the slight mound on the bed. Jiang Ranxing was lying on the big bed, her body seemingly thin and completely sunken into the bed, her sleeping face peaceful and beautiful.
Fu Shenyuan unconsciously curled the corners of his lips slightly as he looked at Jiang Ranxing, his heart seemingly filled with emotion.
The next morning, before Jiang Ranxing got out of bed, in the brief moment when she was still somewhat awake, she heard the sound of a door closing. Then, she smelled the aroma of food. She sat up slightly and saw Fu Shenyuan carrying a tray of food as he walked in.
When Fu Shenyuan saw her get up, he said, "You're awake. That's perfect. Wash up and come have breakfast."
Jiang Ranxing slowly sat up from the bed, looked up and carefully examined Fu Shenyuan. He was already dressed neatly, and although he was in casual clothes, he did not lose his demeanor at all.
"Oh, just leave it there, I'll eat it later," Jiang Ranxing said, getting up and heading towards the bathroom.
After Jiang Ranxing washed up and ate breakfast, Fu Shenyuan was flipping through some old magazines on the sofa next to him.
The two left the hotel only after Jiang Ranxing was dressed, and Fu Shenyuan drove along following the navigation.
Jiang Ranxing noticed that their destination was an old residential area, and he remembered Fu Shenyuan's explanation to her.
"The person we're looking for is the manager of this old shopping mall. He should be able to tell us something. Better safe than sorry. Let's go."
Jiang Ranxing and Fu Shenyuan then drove together on their way to the town.
Fu Shenyuan had almost never seen such a lively atmosphere before. At this time of morning, most of the small shops on the main road of the town were open, selling all kinds of things. Fu Shenyuan glanced at them and found that these things were completely unfamiliar to him.
Jiang Ranxing watched with great interest. She had been exposed to these things since she was a child, whether it was xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), popcorn, or roasted chestnuts. These were all things that were rarely seen in city shopping malls.
While stuck in traffic, Fu Shenyuan glanced at the roasted chestnuts that Jiang Ranxing was watching, and silently memorized the location of the small shop.
The two continued driving towards their destination, and as they approached the residential area, the number of shops decreased and the environment became quieter.
Fu Shenyuan parked the car on the side of the road before getting out with Jiang Ranxing.
Fu Shenyuan looked at the location on his phone, but was lost in the densely packed building complex where power lines led to no address.
"Give it to me, I'll do it." Jiang Ranxing took the phone from his hand and looked it up and down.
A short while later, Jiang Ranxing led Fu Shenyuan through a maze of twists and turns into a building.
Fu Shenyuan sighed, "How did you find it?"
Jiang Ranxing said casually, "I used to live in an old building area like this, so of course it's not difficult for me to find it. Of course, a young master like you who was born and raised in a detached villa can't find it."
Hearing Jiang Ranxing say this, Fu Shenyuan looked at her and suddenly realized that he didn't know enough about Jiang Ranxing. He hadn't experienced her childhood, living conditions, or background, so he couldn't understand what was deep inside her.
Jiang Ranxing had no time to pay attention to Fu Shenyuan. The two of them walked down the old staircase and finally stopped in front of a brown iron gate.
“This is it, no doubt about it.” Jiang Ranxing checked the phone, handed it back to Fu Shenyuan, and took a step back, gesturing for Fu Shenyuan to go and knock on the door.
Fu Shenyuan stepped forward and knocked on the dusty iron door. A rough, hoarse male voice came from inside and asked, "Who is it? Who's knocking?"
Fu Shenyuan said seriously, "They're here to deliver the subsidy to you; they're from the Fu Group."
The man inside chuckled and quickly opened the door, then smiled obsequiously at Fu Shenyuan.
"Oh my! The big boss of the Fu Group, so elegant, you must be a big shot. Come, come, please come inside."
The man made way for Fu Shenyuan, smelled the musty, stuffy odor coming from the room, and frowned involuntarily before turning to look at Jiang Ranxing.
Jiang Ranxing was clearly a little uncomfortable, but since he had something to say, he came in.
The man wiped the oily leather sofa for Fu Shenyuan and said with a grin, "Boss, please sit down and chat."
Upon seeing Jiang Ranxing behind Fu Shenyuan, the man's eyes lit up, but he was immediately glared at by Fu Shenyuan.
"Oh my, this must be the proprietress, she's so beautiful. Please, have a seat."
Fu Shenyuan waved his hand and said, "No need, let's talk about serious matters."
Fu Shenyuan took out a paper envelope from the inside pocket of his coat and said directly, "This is a signed check as compensation for you. As long as you answer my questions, you can take it to the bank to exchange it for money."
The man's eyes lingered greedily on the envelope, and just as he was about to reach for it, Fu Shenyuan raised his hand.
Fu Shenyuan stared at him and said, "Before you take the money, you have to answer some questions for me."
The man immediately rubbed his hands together and said generously, "Boss, ask away. I'll tell you everything I know."
Fu Shenyuan then began his questioning, and Jiang Ranxing listened from the side. The answers to all the questions seemed to have no flaws, but the more Jiang Ranxing listened, the more she felt that something was not quite right. She and Fu Shenyuan exchanged a glance and both discovered a more crucial person.
"Where did one of the local clerks who opposed the sale of the mall go?" Fu Shenyuan asked, staring at the man.
Upon hearing Fu Shenyuan ask this question, the man's expression immediately changed drastically, and he refused to say anything more.
"Oh, boss, don't ask anymore. Knowing so much is useless. Do you want to know anything else? I can tell you anything."
Now anyone can see where the problem lies.
A terrible thought arose in the minds of both Fu Shenyuan and Jiang Ranxing.
Neither of them paid any more attention to the man and turned to leave the cramped room.
The man was still shouting after not getting the money. Fu Shenyuan turned around and glanced at him. In just one glance, the man was so frightened that he stopped in his tracks.
Fu Shenyuan handed him the envelope containing the check: "Watch your mouth and don't talk nonsense."
The man nodded vigorously and said, "Okay, okay, don't worry, I'll definitely keep my mouth shut."
Fu Shenyuan and Jiang Ranxing immediately left and returned to their car.
Fu Shenyuan said, "I'll take you back first. Leave the rest to me, don't worry."
Jiang Ranxing's eyes revealed his worry about this matter.
"According to what that man just said, this involves more than just economic crimes."
Needless to say, Jiang Ranxing understood; the clerk's fate was now unknown.
As Fu Shenyuan drove, he said, "I'll take you home first, then I'll go find Wan Luyuan. Don't get involved in this anymore. Just wait for my news at home."
Jiang Ranxing was confident in Fu Shenyuan's ability to handle these matters, so she didn't say anything.
The two then went their separate ways. Jiang Ranxing was sent back to Qinglin Villa, while Fu Shenyuan left without lingering.
The moment Jiang Ranxing returned to the villa, he felt as if the events of the past few days had been a dream.
She seemed to be caught up in some dark and ruthless struggle, which was very different from what she usually encountered.
Fu Xingyi was coming downstairs to the living room when he saw Jiang Ranxing on the sofa. He felt a sense of warmth and went over to her, throwing himself into her arms.
"Mom, what are you thinking about?" Fu Xingyi asked.
Jiang Ranxing then came to her senses and saw the tender, fair face in front of her, which brought her back to her senses.
"It's nothing, I'm just a little tired."
Fu Xingyi reached out his two little hands and cupped Jiang Ranxing's cheeks: "Mom, did you not get enough rest? You have some dark circles under your eyes."
Fu Xingyi pointed to the faint dark circles under Jiang Ranxing's eyes and said that he asked the butler to bring a mirror so that Jiang Ranxing could see for himself.
In the mirror, her face showed signs of weariness.
"Let me give Mom a shoulder massage," Fu Xingyi said with a smile as he climbed up from behind the sofa and started massaging Jiang Ranxing's shoulders.
After pressing twice, Jiang Ranxing grabbed Fu Xingyi's small hand and made him sit on the sofa.
"Yiyi, sit down, Mom doesn't need to."
Fu Xingyi pouted, her little face showing some frustration: "Mom, why are you so cold to me? You're completely different from before."
Jiang Ranxing turned to look at him: "What was Mom like before?"
In Jiang Ranxing's memory, she had always treated Fu Xingyi with the same attitude.
Fu Xingyi mumbled for a while and then said, "Mom used to be so good to me. She would grant me any request. On Mom and Dad's wedding anniversary, I had low blood sugar, and Mom cut her foot trying to save me. So Mom loves me very much."
Jiang Ranxing frowned slightly and simply said "Oh".
Jiang Ranxing simply shook his head: "Mom doesn't remember."
Fu Xingyi's face, which had been full of love just moments before, now drooped again.
"Huh? That's impossible, Mom, what's wrong?"
Jiang Ranxing felt she could speak frankly: "Before, when Mom was injured, I didn't remember many things about you and your father. I don't remember the things Yiyi mentioned."
Fu Xingyi was hearing this for the first time and panicked. He quickly realized what was going on.
"So, Mom, don't you love me anymore? And you don't love Dad either?"
When Fu Xingyi asked this question, Jiang Ranxing reacted even faster.
Did I love you all before?
Fu Xingyi nodded vigorously: "Yes, yes, Mom loves us very much. If Mom doesn't believe me, I'll find something out and she'll know as soon as she sees it."
Jiang Ranxing watched as Fu Xingyi mysteriously ran upstairs and back to his room. After a while, Fu Xingyi came downstairs with a diary in his hand.
"What's this?"
When Fu Xingyi placed the notebook in front of Jiang Ranxing, she asked.
"This is your diary, Mom. You forgot about this too?" Fu Xingyi put the notebook in Jiang Ranxing's hands and opened it to the first page. "It's your handwriting, Mom. Take a look."
Jiang Ranxing had no memory of this either. She picked up the notebook and looked at the handwriting on it.
[Yiyi can crawl now. He's so tiny and soft. Looking at him fills me with happiness. As long as Yiyi is here, my life has a new meaning. I love my child, my child with Shen Yuan.]
Shen Yuan took the initiative to hold Yi Yi today. He was holding our child, and I was sitting beside them. At that moment, I felt truly happy. I wish time could stand still and stay in this blissful moment forever.
[Yiyi can talk now! Her first word was "Mama." I'm so touched. A child who is connected to me by blood has appeared in this world; it's the best gift the world has given me.]
I made soup tonight, and Shen Yuan really liked it. I'm so happy that my homemade food was appreciated.
Jiang Ranxing casually flipped through a few more pages. Each page contained very few words, just a few sentences, but each one was a description of a warm and cozy moment in daily life.
Jiang Ranxing touched the somewhat worn-out handwriting, but felt no emotion whatsoever. Instead, she kept wondering, was this really her from the past?
If so… Jiang Ranxing’s eyes narrowed slightly, and she threw the diary onto the sofa.
Seeing that Jiang Ranxing, who had been reading her diary just moments before, suddenly didn't want to read it anymore, Fu Xingyi felt a little flustered: "Why did Mom stop reading?"
Jiang Ranxing said bluntly, "I don't want to look anymore, take it away."
Looking at the words written by what seemed to be another woman, Jiang Ranxing felt only a sense of strangeness and absurdity, and could not resonate with them at all.
Fu Xingyi got a little anxious and insisted on showing Jiang Ranxing the diary.
"Take another look, Mom. If you keep looking, you might remember things and start loving Yiyi and Dad just like before."
Jiang Ranxing couldn't hold back for a moment and growled in a low voice, "What's the use of remembering! Did you and your father ever treat me well?!"
Fu Xingyi immediately looked aggrieved, her big eyes instantly becoming watery, as if she was about to cry.
Jiang Ranxing felt a little sorry for him, but she really wasn't in the mood to coax him anymore. If she kept indulging his unreasonable behavior, it would only get worse.
Fu Xingyi pouted, large tears rolling down her cheeks, and she cried out in a sob, "Mommy doesn't love me anymore! Mommy doesn't love me anymore!"
Jiang Ranxing sighed helplessly, and suddenly realized that Fu Xingyi and Fu Shenyuan were exactly the same, both of them only forced her to remember things that had long since disappeared.
No wonder they're all surnamed Fu; they're just of the same bloodline.
Jiang Ranxing calmed down, but didn't offer any comfort to Fu Xingyi. Instead, she waited until Fu Xingyi had cried and made a fuss for a while before turning to him.
“Fu Xingyi, I’m telling you again, don’t do these meaningless things. Use this time to talk to the right people.”
Jiang Ranxing's serious and distant tone barely stopped Fu Xingyi from crying.
He asked, "Who should I go to? Aren't you my mother?"
Jiang Ranxing smiled, but there was no tenderness in her eyes, only a faint coolness.
She took out a notebook from the side, opened a page, and wrote down what "she" had written after Fu Xingyi and Lin Xuesha became intimate. Every word was piercing to the heart.
"You should like Lin Xuesha, she is your mother."
After Jiang Ranxing said those words in a calm tone, Fu Xingyi instantly felt like his mother didn't want him anymore.
