Chapter 172 Willing
After thinking about it, Wen Qingrang felt that if Jiang Ranxing could feel relaxed and comfortable, it wouldn't matter if she remembered many things wrong.
Besides, what she had forgotten was mostly about Fu Shenyuan.
For her, Fu Shenyuan was definitely not a pleasant memory, and Wen Qingrang felt it was good that she had forgotten him.
Moreover, out of his own selfishness, he did not want Jiang Ranxing to still have feelings for Fu Shenyuan. Although he did not want to force Jiang Ranxing to accept his feelings, he also did not want Fu Shenyuan to influence him again.
After escorting Jiang Ranxing back to his bedroom to rest, Wen Qingrang went to the balcony of her own room, took out her phone, and dialed her grandfather's number.
"Grandpa, how are you feeling? Have you been doing well lately?"
After the call connected, Wen Qingrang asked.
There is a time difference between this country and China. It is early morning in China at this moment. When Grandpa Wen received the call, he was practicing Tai Chi under the shade of trees in the garden.
Grandpa Wen said leisurely, "Everything is fine, everything is fine. How are things on your end? I saw in your message that she woke up. Is she alright?"
Wen Qingrang replied softly, "It's not bad. The doctor said she's recovering very well. There's just one thing: her memory is damaged. She doesn't remember many sad things, nor does she remember her relationship with Fu Shenyuan."
Grandpa Wen said in surprise, "I can't believe it's like this. But it seems to be a good thing for her. This child's marriage has been quite difficult."
"By the way, that kid from the Fu family came looking for me, but I managed to fool him. I told him I couldn't find you either. It seems he regrets what happened in the past."
Wen Qingrang scoffed and said, "Just because he regrets it doesn't mean others have an obligation to forgive him. He didn't think about regretting what he did back then, but now he's making things difficult for Ranxing. I really look down on him."
He couldn't stand Fu Shenyuan's behavior. Fu Shenyuan regretted his actions and started pestering people who were already heartbroken. He never considered who had pushed things to this point.
Grandpa Wen just smiled and said, "Every cause has its effect. Don't worry about him. Just take care of the people you want to take care of."
Grandpa Wen seemed to know Wen Qingrang's concerns, so he said, "Don't worry, even if the Fu family is powerful, they can't control the people that our Wen family wants to protect. With Grandpa here, you can rest assured."
Wen Qingrang smiled slightly in the night sky and said, "Thank you for understanding me."
Grandpa Wen is not such a pedantic person; he is very understanding: "It's not easy to meet someone you like. I think that kid is a good person, and it's worth your persistence."
Grandpa Wen glanced at the time and said hurriedly, "Alright, alright, you guys should go to sleep and rest now. I need to exercise. We'll talk when you get back."
"Okay, Grandpa, take care of yourself, I'll contact you again."
Wen Qingrang hung up the phone and turned to leave the balcony.
,
The Fu family's old residence.
Fu Xingyi has been living here for a long time. Although everything is good here, he is getting a little impatient after a while.
So he went to Old Master Fu's study and knocked on the door.
When Grandpa Fu heard the sound, he looked up and asked the old butler to open the door. The old butler saw the tiny person on the ground.
"Young Master Xingyi, are you here to see the Master?"
Fu Xingyi nodded, then slowly walked in.
Grandpa Fu saw the small figure through his reading glasses, put down his book, and reached out to greet him.
After Fu Xingyi walked over, he was hugged tightly by Old Master Fu, and they sat down together on a chair.
Grandpa Fu asked, "What's wrong, Xiao Yiyi?"
Fu Xingyi pouted and said sweetly, "Great-Grandpa, I really enjoy living with you. Your chef here cooks so well, but I haven't seen my mom and dad in a long time. I miss them a little. Can you invite them to come here for dinner?"
Fu Xingyi actually misses Fu Shenyuan and Jiang Ranxing a little, after all, he is still very young and needs his parents' company.
Grandpa Fu nodded and said, "Sure, I'll call your father and have him come over to have dinner with you tonight."
Fu Xingyi was delighted to hear this and stretched out his neck to kiss Grandpa Fu.
"Great-grandfather is the best to me, Yiyi likes you the most."
Grandpa Fu chuckled, "What a sweet-talking little fellow! Go play."
Fu Xingyi jumped off the chair and happily ran out to play.
After seeing him leave, Old Master Fu's face darkened, and he looked up and gestured for the old butler to call Fu Shenyuan.
The old butler immediately understood that the young master and the master had a great deal of disagreement because of Jiang Ranxing's previous matter, and their relationship was inexplicably awkward, with the two of them having much less contact.
The master asked him to contact Young Master Sun, which seems to be an attempt to give the young master a way out.
The old butler took out his phone and called Fu Shenyuan.
The call connected quickly.
The old butler asked, "Young Master Sun, are you busy?"
Fu Shenyuan, still not fully sober in his hotel suite, frowned and asked, "What is it?"
The old butler glanced at Old Master Fu's expression before nodding and saying, "Young Master Xingyi said he misses you, and the master wants to invite you back for dinner tonight."
Fu Shenyuan pressed his aching temples. He hadn't really wanted to go to the old house, but he had learned something yesterday and was planning to visit it anyway, so he thought this would be a good opportunity to go back.
So he said, "Okay, I'll go back later."
The old butler replied, "Yes, young master, I'll be waiting for you to come back."
Fu Shenyuan hung up the phone, staggered to his feet, and slowly walked out of the bedroom.
The room was pitch black, and he almost tripped over the bottles of liquor scattered on the floor.
He impatiently kicked the bottle away before turning into the restroom.
He walked to the sink, turned on the tap, splashed a handful of cold water on his face, and then looked up at the person in the mirror. For a moment, he almost didn't recognize him.
The person in the mirror looked haggard and completely sunken, as if they had lost the soul that sustained their life, and no longer had their former confidence and arrogance.
Fu Shenyuan looked into his eyes in the mirror; they were empty, devoid of any soul. All he could see was endless pain.
Fu Shenyuan gave a wry smile twice before turning and leaving.
Tan Shen knocked on Fu Shenyuan's door on time. He dared not leave Fu Shenyuan alone for too long. Fu Shenyuan was in a bad state, and if he drank too much and lost control, something might happen.
But when Tan Shen walked in today, he saw Fu Shenyuan buttoning his shirt.
Tan Shen asked curiously, "Mr. Fu, what's going on?"
Fu Shenyuan said, "Let's go back to the old house for dinner."
Tan Shen immediately realized what was going on: "Then I'll drive you there now."
Fu Shenyuan hummed in agreement and was the first to leave the hotel room.
He went back to the old house today because there were some things he needed to ask his grandfather about.
Grandpa insisted on finding out the reason why he and Jiang Ranxing were not allowed to meet.
Luxury cars flashed by on the city's main road. Fu Shenyuan watched all the scenery flash by in an instant, his heart filled with mixed emotions.
Inside the Fu family's old house, Fu Xingyi was pacing around in the kitchen, watching the chef prepare one delicious home-style dish after another.
Fu Xingyi excitedly ran back and forth between the kitchen and the living room. When he saw a car approaching, he quickly ran outside the front door.
As Fu Shenyuan got out of the car, Fu Xingyi ran over and hugged his leg.
"Dad! I missed you so much! You're finally here!"
Fu Xingyi's big eyes were filled with undisguised joy.
Fu Shenyuan squatted down, slowly revealing a smile, and gently rubbed Fu Xingyi's little head.
“Okay, let’s go in together,” Fu Shenyuan said.
Being treated so gently by Fu Shenyuan filled her with joy, and she happily followed him, her little legs carrying her along.
Fu Shenyuan walked into the old house, just as Old Master Fu came downstairs, and the two met face to face.
Fu Shenyuan didn't speak, he just stopped walking.
Old Master Fu frowned slightly, snorted heavily, and got down, tapping his cane on the ground twice, making a loud noise.
"What's wrong? Now you don't even greet me when you see me? Have we become enemies?" Old Master Fu glanced at Fu Shenyuan and said.
Fu Shenyuan then spoke, "Grandpa."
Grandpa Fu pointed his cane towards the dining table and said, "Let's go eat."
Fu Shenyuan then started walking towards the restaurant.
Fu Xingyi was still unaware of what had happened, his little head filled with questions.
Fu Xingyi tugged at Fu Shenyuan's sleeve and asked in confusion, "Dad, why didn't Mom come with you? Didn't you ask her to come along?"
When Fu Xingyi mentioned Jiang Ranxing and asked him why he hadn't invited her to come along, the heartache he hadn't yet subsided immediately surged back.
If he could find Jiang Ranxing, wouldn't he want to bring her along?
And now, he doesn't even know where Jiang Ranxing is.
I don't know how he got to this point.
Fu Shenyuan said in a deep voice, "Your mother has something to do and can't come today."
He could only deceive Fu Xingyi with such lies, and in doing so, he also deceived his own heart.
He didn't know how he would get through these difficult days if he didn't deceive himself.
He didn't know how long he had to endure it, how much longer he could hold on, or if there would come a day when he couldn't take it anymore.
He didn't know if Jiang Ranxing would appear in front of him with a pitiful look if he couldn't hold on any longer.
Fu Shenyuan's heart and eyes were filled with undisguised pain.
Fu Xingyi was still not happy that Jiang Ranxing didn't come.
"What is Mom doing? She said she would come to see me, why hasn't she come yet?"
Fu Xingyi could only mutter to himself as he followed them to the restaurant and sat down in his seat. Only after Old Master Fu and Fu Shenyuan had started eating did he pick up his chopsticks to eat.
There were delicious dishes in front of him, but Fu Shenyuan was not interested in any of them. He only ate a few bites before losing interest, and his chopsticks gradually stopped moving.
When Grandpa Fu saw this, he asked, "When I called you back, I offered you a meal, but it wasn't to your liking?"
Fu Shenyuan looked up and met Old Master Fu's gaze, and almost as if warned, picked up his chopsticks again.
There was a bit of undercurrent going on during the meal, but Fu Xingyi was too young to notice and still finished it happily.
After the meal, Fu Shenyuan glanced at Fu Xingyi and said, "Go have some fun. Your great-grandfather and I still have things to talk about."
"Oh, okay, I'm going out to play now." Fu Xingyi said and followed the old butler.
Seeing him like this, Old Master Fu wiped his mouth, leaned back in his chair, and looked at Fu Shenyuan.
"You're not eating much, you must have a lot to tell me, right?"
Old Master Fu asked, seemingly having an intimate knowledge of Fu Shenyuan's thoughts.
Fu Shenyuan nodded and asked bluntly, "Grandpa, why did you send people to block her news?"
Old Master Fu snorted and said, "If you hadn't been so idle and only knew how to look for her, I wouldn't have done such a thing. Do you think I would stoop to doing this?"
Fu Shenyuan managed a weak laugh: "How is it neglecting my duties if I go to see her? Don't forget, I've already been suspended, no, I should say I've been dismissed. The company doesn't need me anymore, I'm just an idle person."
Fu Shenyuan spoke these words with obvious nonchalance, indicating that he no longer cared much about being betrayed by Fu Hongkai.
Nothing seemed more important than finding Jiang Ranxing's whereabouts.
Fu Shenyuan thought about Jiang Ranxing's whereabouts every day, to the point that he lost his appetite and everything he looked at lost its luster.
It was as if Jiang Ranxing's departure had taken away the light from his world. People won't die without light and heat, but they would be completely deprived of warmth.
He longed to see Jiang Ranxing, to know how she was doing, to find out if she had recovered from the car accident, and if she had anything she wanted to say to him. He was so consumed by this longing that he was almost uncontrollably overwhelmed by grief every day.
When Grandpa Fu saw Fu Shenyuan's expression, he knew that Fu Shenyuan was thinking about Jiang Ranxing again.
Grandpa Fu originally wanted to have a good talk with Fu Shenyuan, but he still acted this way, which was completely contrary to his expectations of Fu Shenyuan. He didn't want an heir who was only immersed in love.
Old Master Fu said irritably, "Do you even know what you're supposed to be, Fu Shenyuan? Do you even know who you are? All you do is think about is your little love affairs. Have you forgotten the hopes your parents have for you, and the expectations I have for you? It's just a woman. When she was with you, you didn't value her at all. But now that you're divorced, you know how to cherish her. What am I supposed to say to you?!"
Old Master Fu didn't originally intend to be so explicit, but Fu Shenyuan's current attitude made him feel that he was really letting Fu down.
"Your parents did so much for your future, and you really don't remember any of it? Now you're acting like you're going to die for a woman. What exactly do you want?"
Old Master Fu's questions struck Fu Shenyuan's heart.
He couldn't refute Jiang Ranxing's statement; he had indeed wronged Jiang Ranxing too much in the past, just as everyone around him had seen.
It seemed that in everyone's eyes, his current reluctance to part with Jiang Ranxing was all his own doing. Fu Shenyuan smiled; indeed, he knew that was the case, which was why his heart ached so much.
He knows he was wrong, but he can't make up for it in the slightest, which is the hardest thing for him to accept right now.
So he should bear this heartache all by himself.
But how could I accept that?
Fu Shenyuan said quietly in a low voice, "There's nothing to say, Grandpa."
"I discovered that I love her, and I am willing to become like this."
