Pei Sui was taken aback. He didn't stop stroking her back, but tightened his grip on her waist, wanting to give her all the sense of security he could.
His usually cold voice softened slightly, becoming low and slightly hoarse, "Was Mom happy to see you get married? Was she satisfied with me?"
He changed his words very smoothly.
He wasn't shy at all and listened very naturally.
Meng Sheng buried her face in his chest, sobbing softly with a heavy nasal tone, "Hmm... Mom is very happy and satisfied with you. She said... you are someone I can entrust my life to, and that you and I must be good to each other. She also said... she will watch over our happiness from heaven and has never left me. She has always been by my side."
Pei Sui paused for a moment, then reached out to touch the back of her head and kissed her earlobe. "Did you tell Mom that we will definitely be happy?"
"I told you." Meng Sheng's sobs grew louder, filled with remorse and regret, like a child crying for candy, wanting only the candy she had been longing for. "You, do you know? My mom was really by my side before. I didn't know anything, I didn't know anything. I only found out today, but she's already gone, gone, and will never appear again."
Her voice was broken, some words were very soft and some were very loud, because she was crying quite loudly and her speech was not very clear.
But Pei Sui still managed to glean a clue from her fragmented words.
He gently pinched the back of her neck with his fingers, leaned back, and pulled her out of his arms a little, soothing her in a low voice, "Don't cry. If Mom saw you crying so sadly, she would be sad too. Don't cry, I'm here for you, I'll always be with you."
As Meng Sheng's sobs gradually subsided and her strength slowly faded, he gently wiped away her tears and asked, "Tell me properly, what exactly did you dream about? What did your mother say to you?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Meng Sheng withdrew his hand from his phone.
Pei Sui noticed the unfamiliar phone immediately. He paused for a moment, then took the phone. Meng Sheng didn't stop him and let him take it.
The screen lit up, displaying a photo of an unfamiliar little girl, which made him visibly dazed and somewhat surprised.
Meng Sheng sniffed, and without hiding anything from him, said in a low voice, "This little girl... is my daughter from my previous life, Jiao Jiao."
"This phone... was dropped by my mother in my dream. I opened the text message history inside, and all those... precognitive text messages sent to me came from this phone. My mother has always been... protecting me, just afraid that I would follow in the footsteps of my previous life."
“Ever since she told me that Shang Boyu had cheated on me with Ning Weiwei, she has been there all along. She was even afraid that I would overthink, resent, or blame myself, so she didn’t want to tell me that her car had been tampered with.”
She really owes her mother too much.
But she didn't even have the chance to make amends.
Pei Sui's shock was even more pronounced than when he learned that she would receive a text message predicting the future and that Gu Ci was reborn. He stood there stunned for twenty seconds.
Even though he had heard and seen too many bizarre things, he was still somewhat overwhelmed at this moment.
This level of fantasy has exceeded the limits of what he was supposed to understand.
Meeting Meng Sheng's red and slightly swollen eyes, he finally snapped out of his daze and hugged her. "What an incredible stroke of luck this is! Mom must be worried about you, or maybe she saw your fate in your previous life. She must be heartbroken and distressed for you. Fortunately, we've overcome the most difficult hurdle, and things will only get better for us. Don't cry..."
"But...but she's gone now, she's left me."
Pei Sui shook his head. "No, she's in our hearts. We'll always remember her, miss her, and think of her. Sheng Sheng, let's go back to see Mom with Dad tomorrow."
Meng Sheng pouted and nodded emphatically, "Okay."
Pei Sui pinched the back of her neck and wiped away her tears with one hand. "Don't cry. The baby is watching you. What if you have a little crybaby later?"
Hearing this, Meng Sheng burst into laughter through her tears, and playfully slapped his chest, saying, "If you really are a crybaby, you'll have to comfort you then."
“Okay, I’ll coax you.” Pei Sui readily agreed. “Are you hungry? I brought breakfast up. Let’s go get something to eat first.”
"Then this phone..."
Pei Sui glanced at the phone next to him. "Keep it, just as a keepsake."
"Don't you feel uncomfortable?" Meng Sheng asked curiously.
Pei Sui raised an eyebrow. "What am I bothered by? This little girl? It's not that bad. Even if this is from the past, I wouldn't mind if she really existed."
Because he loves her, he will naturally love her child as well. Jiaojiao is her child.
Meng Sheng suddenly remembered her previous life in her dream and couldn't help but laugh.
She woke up this morning crying and laughing, and she really didn't have much strength. She was helped out of bed, and her legs were weak. Pei Sui simply carried her to wash up first, and then carried her to the dining room.
