"What are you doing?"
A woman standing next to Xu Yan thought it was a good spot to watch the show, but after only a few seconds, she saw Xu Yan jump and hop to the side. Before she could react, Qin Li bent her knees and crashed down in front of her.
"You're going to shorten my lifespan!" the woman screamed, scrambling to move aside.
"This is terrible!"
The other old woman who was knocked down by Qin Li also cried out, "My old arms and legs!"
The other onlookers also came to their senses and rushed to help her.
With a gloomy face, Granny Qian grabbed Qin Li's hand. Country folk are used to farm work and have a lot of strength. When she pulled Qin Li up by the arm, it looked like she could accidentally rip her arm off.
Whether it was from the pain or something else, Qin Li couldn't hold back her tears any longer, and they streamed down her face.
"Xu Yan!" she shouted.
Xu Yan looked at her expressionlessly.
"Please save me," Qin Li tried to rush to her side, but Granny Qian held her arm tightly. "Lend me two hundred yuan, it's not much, just two hundred, I beg you."
Xu Yan frowned.
"I know you hate me, but compared to Zhou Jingjing and the others, I haven't done anything to you, have I?" Qin Li cried as she continued to shout at Xu Yan.
The people around her quieted down a bit after she shouted those few times, and they all looked at Xu Yan.
Xu Yan was surprised that the person in front of her seemed to have already forgotten the words she had spoken at their wedding.
She stared at Qin Li for a few seconds, then said indifferently, "I have no money."
"How could you not have money?" Qin Li's voice grew louder, her snot almost dripping from her nose as she cried. "Your parents both have jobs and have always sent you money. How could you not have money?"
"Oh, you still remember?" Xu Yan suddenly gave a cold smirk.
"If you hadn't told me, I would have thought you'd all forgotten. I did have money before, but you all took it all, didn't you? More than three months have passed, where's the money you've returned?"
Qin Li choked abruptly.
She forgot.
There were many things going on at the educated youth settlement recently, and she hadn't seen Xu Yan for a long time, so she forgot that she still owed her money.
"Hey, Aunt Qian!"
Li Aihua suddenly broke the silence, "What are you doing? Are you forcing that educated youth to be your daughter-in-law? Be careful she doesn't report you to the brigade later!"
"Bullshit!" Granny Qian exploded upon hearing this, her eyes bulging so wide they almost popped out of their sockets. "I forced her?"
Qin Li probably didn't think much when she called Xu Yan earlier. She just saw her and got excited, so she rushed towards her. Now, hearing what Granny Qian said, she quickly stopped her, afraid that she might say something.
"Auntie, Auntie, let's go," Qin Li said, reaching out to tug at Granny Qian's sleeve.
Granny Qian already thought it was a losing proposition, but considering that her son had never even held a woman's hand, she reluctantly agreed.
They also planned to have Erzhu and Qinli visit their father-in-law's house in the city during the Spring Festival to see if they could bring anything back.
Even a starved camel is bigger than a horse. Although their family isn't doing well now, at least they have a job in the city.
Since they are unwilling to sell their jobs now, their second son might have to take over in the future.
They were shrewd; when Qin Li insisted on a bride price of two hundred yuan, Granny Qian gritted her teeth and agreed.
She had suffered a loss with Xu Yan before. If she had agreed to Xu Yan's demands earlier, her family would be living a very comfortable life now.
And what does Xie Laosan have to do with this?
"Pah, you ungrateful scoundrel who cheated on his wife," Granny Qian couldn't hold back anymore and started cursing, "If my family hadn't wanted you, you would have been taken to the police station long ago!"
The people around him widened their eyes immediately upon hearing the words "having an affair".
"You still have the nerve to ask me to save you," Granny Qian continued, spitting as she spoke. "It's as if I forced you. When you were in a man's bed, didn't you think about this day coming?"
Granny Qian's language was crude, and she even used several vulgar terms to describe organs. Qin Li was already crying, and now she was almost crying so hard that she couldn't breathe.
"His aunt, is it true?"
The people around were stunned, and finally someone found a chance to interject.
"Really? Whose bed did she get into? I've never heard of that before!"
"How could you possibly know about this?" Granny Qian snorted coldly when she saw Qin Li's pale face and her head drooping almost to her chest.
"How did you know?" someone asked.
At this point, Granny Qian shut up.
No matter how much others asked, he refused to say anything more.
"Oh dear, I'm so anxious!" the aunt who had been jumping up and down in a panic complained a few more times, but Granny Qian still didn't continue.
After a few seconds of silence from the crowd, she broke the silence and asked Qin Li, "Are you still coming or not? If you're not coming, then you should go back. Don't let people think I forced you."
Then, without waiting for Qin Li to speak, he turned around and pushed through the crowd to go home.
Qin Li stood still.
After a long while, she looked up at Xu Yan.
Xu Yan looked at her, his face expressionless and his eyes indifferent.
Qin Li raised her sleeve and wiped her face haphazardly, then gritted her teeth and followed Granny Qian.
When Granny Qian heard the commotion behind her, she could hardly contain her joy. The old fox was still the wiser one; this little brat dared to challenge her.
