Xu Yan didn't know how she got out of the house; she felt like she was about to explode from the heat.
Xie Zhuo's kiss, including those words, kept echoing in her mind.
She went to the yard to fetch water to wash her face, but when she got to the water tank, she remembered that the washbasin was still inside the house, and Xie Zhuo was also inside the house.
Xie Zhuo looked out the window and saw Xu Yan standing in the sun, not moving for a long time, not knowing what she was doing, until Xiao Bao called her over to tell a story, and she walked towards the shade of the tree.
Xie Zhuo sighed softly again.
He actually woke up suddenly after lying down on the kang (a heated brick bed).
He must have been hit on the kang (a heated brick bed), which made him jolted awake.
What followed was shock.
She was shocked at how she had suddenly acted on impulse and kissed Xu Yan.
On second thought, they were both married, and Xu Yan would be his wife after the wedding, so a kiss... wouldn't be a big deal, right?
That's what he was thinking, but when Xu Yan brought in the basin of water, he subconsciously put his arm over his eyes and pretended to be asleep.
He didn't know how Xu Yan found out, but when Xu Yan pointed it out and deliberately teased him, he felt relieved and suddenly became a little bolder.
He actually wanted to kiss her cheek again, but when he leaned in, he felt dizzy and ended up kissing her lips instead.
The young educated youth's lips were soft and warm; when they touched his lips, he felt even more dizzy.
Xie Zhuo lay on the kang (a heated brick bed), his arm still draped over his eyes. A few minutes later, he glanced at his lower abdomen in surprise, then picked up the sheet that had been pulled aside and draped it back over his waist.
The cicadas still sing in summer.
The sun has reached its scorching peak.
Xu Yan picked up a calendar and flipped through it.
The paper was thin and soft, and printed on it were several working people wearing white headscarves, as well as a large red flag with the words "Unite and strive for greater victories" written on it.
Xie Zhuo tore up the pages that had already passed, but not yesterday. Xu Yan tore off that page and looked at today's events.
Today is Wednesday, July 19th, an auspicious day for marriage and travel.
She flipped through the pages again.
July 20th is an auspicious day for marriage.
July 22nd is an auspicious day for marriage.
...
July 31st is an auspicious day for marriage.
Xu Yan put down the calendar and glanced towards the house. Xie Zhuo had said that, after looking at the dates, apart from today being a suitable day for marriage, the rest of the month would not be auspicious.
Xie Zhuo slept until the afternoon before waking up.
I didn't sleep at all last night, and I drank a lot of alcohol this morning, so I'm almost in a coma.
Da Bao and Xiao Bao helped Xu Yan sweep the yard, and then played around the yard for a long time without waking him up.
He didn't sit up abruptly from the kang (a heated brick bed) until he smelled a pungent odor of smoke. He ran outside without even putting on his shoes.
Where is the fire?
When she ran to the kitchen door, she saw Da Bao and Xiao Bao peering through the door frame. Her heart, which had been pounding, finally relaxed. But before she could completely relax, she suddenly remembered that she was married and that there were more than just the three of them at home; Xu Yan was also there.
Xie Zhuo pulled the two little ones back a bit and asked, "Where's Third Aunt?"
My legs have already stepped into the kitchen.
The kitchen is slightly better than the outside.
Especially near the stove, the smoke is not as strong as at the kitchen entrance.
Xu Yan sat on a small wooden stool, his face covered in some wood ash, with a line drawn across his nose, and his hands weren't very clean either.
She turned around just as she heard Xie Zhuo's voice. Her eyes were stinging from the smoke, and a tear rolled down her cheek in the blink of an eye.
She didn't actually cry.
However, she couldn't control this physiological reaction.
Xie Zhuo is usually a very smart person. He had previously been so affected by the smoke from the stove that his eyes would water. When he saw Xu Yan "crying", he panicked.
"Why are you crying?" Xie Zhuo was at a loss, unsure whether he should wipe Xu Yan's tears with his hand.
"Hmm?" Xu Yan looked at him.
Her beautiful eyes were still sore, and she raised her hand to rub them. But as soon as she raised her hand, Xie Zhu grabbed her and pulled her out of the kitchen.
Why is Third Aunt crying?
Da Bao saw that Xu Yan's eyes were full of tears and he looked at his third uncle with a furrowed brow.
Aunt was perfectly fine before Uncle arrived. Could it be that Uncle made Aunt angry again?
"Dabao, go to my room and get a towel," Xie Zhuo said, unaware of what his nephew was implying. He sent Dabao to get a towel, then turned to Xu Yan and said, "Your hands are covered in dust, don't touch them in your eyes."
Xu Yan obediently stopped touching her eyes and blinked hard, which relieved the soreness considerably.
She felt a little awkward when she met Xie Zhuo's gaze.
“I don’t really know how to use that stove,” Xu Yan said. “Da Bao and Xiao Bao said they were hungry, and I saw that there were eggs, so I decided to boil some for them.”
Xie Zhuo didn't speak. After Da Bao ran over and handed him the towel, he carefully wiped away the tears around Xu Yan's eyes before saying, "Close your eyes."
"Huh?" Xu Yan was taken aback.
"There was dust on my eyelids too," Xie Zhuo said.
He wasn't standing very close; there was at least half a meter between them. But he was tall, and even though Xu Yan was 1.72 meters tall, he could still feel a sense of pressure from the height difference.
"Oh," Xu Yan replied.
Xie Zhuo watched as she remained motionless, and Xu Yan did not close her eyes either.
After the two stared at each other for two seconds, Xu Yan said "Oh" again and then closed her eyes.
