Chapter Forty-Six: "Roasting" Venom

In Gwen's eyes, Venom at this moment had a strangely cute quality.

“I am Venom, and I am very powerful. I can amplify the host’s abilities. Peter, you should have felt your strength, speed, and reflexes were several times stronger tonight. Without me tonight, you probably wouldn’t have made it back from Pierce’s house alive.” Venom immediately listed his advantages.

He knew that if he really got off Peter, he didn't know what would happen to him. If Ger really wanted to kill him, he wouldn't last more than a few seconds before vanishing into nothingness. Staying on Peter offered him a sliver of hope.

Peter felt a headache coming on. He glared at Venom and said, "But if it weren't for you, I would never have gone to follow Pierce alone, and I certainly wouldn't have been blown up."

Peter knew that from the moment he put on the black spider suit last night, his consciousness had been affected by Venom, and even after he took off the black spider suit, this effect still existed in his subconscious.

Under normal circumstances, how could he possibly act rashly!

Venom was somewhat choked, but he still kept turning his eyes, thinking of a way to leave.

“Venom, you can only exert your abilities by relying on a host, right?” Looking at Venom’s expression, Ger didn’t hesitate to expose Venom’s weakness.

The situation was beyond repair, so Ger could only look forward and try to maximize his profits. After all, the amplification that Venom, as a parasite, could provide to its host was terrifying.

In the coming years, even more terrifying monsters than the Abomination will appear. With Peter's abilities, dealing with such monsters would be very dangerous. Having venom to amplify his abilities is a good thing for Peter.

The rest is psychological warfare, which is simply about exploiting Venom's weaknesses and mistakes to make Venom more willing to help Peter.

Venom shuddered slightly upon hearing this, then, as if struck by a sudden realization, he raised his head: "I have a secret I can offer in exchange. If you're willing to let me stay with Peter, I can tell you this secret. Rest assured, it's absolutely worth the price."

Gel snorted coldly: "I can't make a judgment for Peter on this matter, so whether or not it can stay with Peter is something you have to ask Peter."

“Absolutely not!” Peter shook his head rapidly. The thought of everything he had done that day sent chills down his spine.

That was so unlike him, like he had become a completely different person. Peter never wanted to experience that feeling of being unable to control himself again.

Venom keenly sensed Peter's feelings and immediately lowered its head in grievance.

Of course, none of the three people present felt sorry for him.

"Venom, can you control your influence on Peter?" Gerr frowned and asked. Although he wanted to keep Venom as an ally, he couldn't just watch Peter be influenced by Venom and become a different person.

Gwen sensed the change in Ger's tone and glanced at him.

“My influence on my host is innate; it’s a natural ability. It can be controlled, but not completely eliminated. And because of my first host, my personality is a bit… or as you would say, a bit unconventional.” A sly expression appeared on Venom’s face. He thought it was subtle, but Gel and Gwen saw it clearly. “Of course, not only is the host affected by me, but I am affected by the host as well. Today’s actions are not entirely my fault. Part of it is because I sensed Peter’s inner pain and repression. My innate talent instinctively amplified these emotions, so today’s events cannot be entirely attributed to me.”

"I didn't, I didn't, don't talk nonsense." Peter glared at Venom and immediately waved his hand at Gwen, but the lipstick stain on his face made his words less convincing.

Venom continued, "If my host is kind-hearted, I will be influenced by him and slowly change my... unconventional ways."

As he spoke, Venom looked at Gel.

It now seems that choosing Ger as a host is more suitable, since Venom knows from Peter's consciousness that Ger is an extremely powerful person. Although not everyone is suitable to be his host, Venom feels that someone as strong as him can definitely be a perfect match for him.

Only then did Gel realize that Venom had its sights set on him.

“Why don’t you choose me as your host?” Gwen pushed up her glasses, looked at Peter, and said this. Her expression was indifferent, and no one could tell what she meant by those words.

"no!"

Gel, Peter, and Venom all refused in unison.

Gwen had only been joking, but seeing that the three of them objected, she immediately straightened up and looked them over: "Why not?"

Gel and Peter exchanged a glance, both seeing the helplessness in each other's eyes.

Fortunately, Venom came to the rescue: "I choose hosts based on their physical condition. If a host's physical condition is not good, I will absorb all their nutrients, causing them to die from organ failure."

These words were half true and half false, after all, Venom chooses hosts based on compatibility, not physical attributes. Venom simply didn't want to choose the relatively weak Gwen after seeing two such powerful hosts, so he told another lie.

Gwen finally gave up, but asked somewhat reluctantly, "Then what should we do?"

Venom glanced at Gol: "How about you become my host, Lord Gol? I guarantee your power will be comparable to Peter's."

Gel shook his head—two years ago, he might have considered it, but now Venom was just icing on the cake. He believed that no matter how strong Venom's support abilities were, it couldn't enhance his chaos magic; at most, it could only enhance his power.
