“Peter, you seem a bit off today. Did something happen?” Gwen turned her head, blinked her bright eyes at Peter, and looked at him with concern.
Peter was restless throughout the morning's classes, unaware that Gwen had glanced at him several times, as if something was troubling him. This was highly unusual, completely unlike the Peter who was usually so studious and prone to blushing.
Peter couldn't very well say that he had "superpowers," so after meeting Gwen's gaze, he could only lower his head helplessly: "It's nothing."
Peter was unwilling to speak, and Gwen, not wanting to press further, could only helplessly shrug and turn her head away. Bright sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the side of Gwen closest to it. From Peter's perspective, Gwen's long, platinum-blonde hair was clearly defined, each strand radiating dazzling light. Even just her back view was so beautiful that Peter almost dared not look any longer.
Peter wanted to tell Gwen everything, but hesitated several times before deciding to give up.
Just as Peter was struggling with his decision, a commotion arose at the back of the classroom.
"Just a little faster and you'll get it." Thomson's laughing voice came from behind.
Peter sighed softly and rubbed his forehead—even without looking, he knew that Thomson was bullying someone again.
With a sense of helplessness, Peter turned around and saw that Thomson and his friends were tossing Gordon's book around in the air like a basketball, and Gordon couldn't catch it no matter what he did.
The surrounding classmates watched with amusement, shouting, "Hurry up! You're almost there! That's lame!"
Gel noticed the scene and was speechless at this classic American high school bullying. Just as he was about to use magic to teach Thomson a lesson, Peter's voice rang out: "Thomson, stop being so childish! Give the book back to Gordon!"
Thomson paused, his face stiffening for a moment, then threw the book he was holding again and shouted at Peter, "Peter, where's your camera? Get it out and take a picture of this funny scene!"
The surrounding classmates started to jeer even more.
"Take a picture, Peter."
"Wow, this is really worth keeping."
"Gorton, faster."
Peter shrugged helplessly, walked to the back of the classroom, and with a simple movement, caught all the books flying through the air and handed them to Gordon: "Go to class now."
Gordon nodded gratefully and then quickly ran out of the classroom.
"Peter, you've provoked me again!" Thomson glanced at the surrounding classmates, then at Peter, and said angrily. He then quickly swung his fist, aiming for Peter's chest!
What appeared to be an incredibly fast punch to an outsider seemed like slow motion to Peter; even the sound of the punch seemed sluggish to him. Based on his experience sparring with Gel that morning, Peter knew this was because his reaction speed had increased significantly, resulting in this visual effect!
Thomson needs to be taught a lesson!
Peter looked at Thomson's ferocious expression, made up his mind, then dodged to the side, quickly turned around, and threw a punch at Thomson.
To everyone's horror, Thomson flew straight out and slammed into the classroom door with a loud bang.
"Snap! Clink!"
Thomson smashed the classroom door open, and the glass in the doors and windows shattered, falling all over Thomson, who was lying on the ground groaning.
Sitting in his seat, Ger shook his head helplessly. Luckily, he had just added some protection to Thomson's body; otherwise, with Peter's current strength, Thomson would probably have broken all his ribs and died on the spot.
Next time, we need to teach Peter how to control his power, otherwise it won't be long before he's arrested and thrown in jail.
That afternoon, Uncle Ben was invited to the principal's office, along with Ger.
Of course, Gel being called to the principal's office had nothing to do with Peter. It was because Wanda and Pietro had returned from their study abroad trip. During their trip, they had repeatedly ignored their teachers' advice and sneaked out to play. Moreover, due to a quarrel, they had beaten up several classmates, leaving them with black eyes and swollen faces.
"Is it compensation for the classroom door and..." After finishing his conversation with the principal and leaving the principal's office, Peter cautiously asked Uncle Ben.
Before he could finish speaking, his uncle interrupted him, saying, "I don't care about that at all."
As he spoke, he saw that Gel had brought Wanda and Pietro over, and his expression became even more serious.
Wanda and Pietro both lowered their heads when they saw Uncle Ben. Because Ger and Peter were good friends, they had eaten at Uncle Ben's house many times over the years; in their hearts, Uncle Ben was like a father to them.
“I know I’m not your father, and I don’t have the right to lecture you. But as someone older than you, I feel I need to tell you some things.” Uncle Ben’s tone was very serious.
Peter instinctively tried to justify himself: "I was standing up for what was right; they were bullying people."
Wanda chimed in, "Me too, my brother and I both agree. The person who got beaten up was completely innocent..."
"But the other side was seriously injured, while you were unharmed, weren't you? Whether you were acting out of a sense of justice or satisfying your own vanity, I think you know better than I do. I know that your vanity has been satisfied because of your fighting skills, and you're even feeling smug while listening to me. But remember, just because you can beat them doesn't mean you have the right to beat them." Uncle Ben added, "With great power comes great responsibility. Your abilities should be used wisely and in a better way, such as to better help people, not just to hurt people under the guise of fighting injustice. Do you understand?"
