“But random selection, regardless of wealth or poverty, always presents an equal chance,” Thanos continued. “They called me a madman, but in the end, they killed each other, and Titan was destroyed. So from that moment on, I secretly resolved to collect all six Infinity Stones, snap my fingers, and wipe out half of the inhabitants, saving those planets in dire straits like Titan, so they wouldn’t end up as survivors like me. This is my mercy, and the great cause I must undertake. So, will you hand over the Power Stone?”
Ronan looked at Thanos as if he were looking at someone with a screw loose. Slowly, Ronan gripped his weapon tightly, his voice filled with intense killing intent: "Might makes right. You don't have the ability to make me hand over the Power Stone right now."
Thanos slowly shook his head, then looked at Gale with a compassionate gaze: "And you, are you willing to hand over the Infinity Stones?"
Gel floated forward slightly, meeting Thanos's gaze with mockery and indifference. After a moment, Gel spoke coldly: "You speak of your great cause, but all I hear is the foolishness of a coward who, after losing everything, tries to make up for his so-called regrets with slaughter."
Thanos's expression suddenly turned cold, his deep purple eyelids drooped slightly as he looked at Gale.
Gel simply looked at him mockingly and continued, "The destruction of Titan stemmed from the incompetence of you commanders. The development of any planet is not a short-sighted endeavor. Long-term planning is essential from the early stages, taking into account factors like population and resources. You bunch of idiots led your planet to this state, and you, an idiot, even suggested killing half the population to solve the problem. Let me ask you, if half the population is killed, and only the other half survives, are you going to let them continue to reproduce? What if the population keeps growing? Keep killing? It's laughable. There are better solutions, yet you try to solve the problem with a method that can only temporarily alleviate the predicament, causing everyone to be destroyed and killed. Is this what you call a great undertaking? I'd call it an undertaking of idiots."
Ronan, who was standing nearby, also laughed out loud. Although he thought the two of them were discussing something boring and even unnecessary, Thanos did indeed seem like a complete idiot.
Beside the holographic projection, Quill, Raccoon, and the others were all stunned and stood frozen in place, while Gamora covered her mouth tightly, her eyes brimming with tears.
Gel's words were merciless, like a thunderbolt striking from a clear sky. Thanos swayed and almost lost his footing. He stared blankly at Gel, a momentary doubt flashing through his mind—could it be that the destruction of Titan was their own fault?
But soon, the voice was silently silenced, just like all those who do wrong but have to keep going, just to make themselves feel better.
Thanos's eyes hardened again: "Perhaps, but that's something you can leave to yourselves. What I need to do is save those planets that are already in dire straits, and give them a chance to survive again."
"What about those planets that are still in their early stages of development, where families are harmonious and tribes are in sync?" Gel continued to press, his voice like water droplets piercing stone, dripping into the depths of Thanos's heart.
But Thanos remained unmoved, calmly meeting Gale's gaze: "I helped them avert a catastrophe, allowing their planet to survive longer. Their sacrifice was for the long-term happiness of future generations. I know this cause is not understood, but someone always has to go against the grain and bear the burden of happiness for more people."
"For individuals, you will cause them to be separated from their wives and children, forever separated from them. For families, you will cause them to be torn apart, forever bearing unspeakable grief. For society, you will cause it to be immersed in panic, struggling to continue in a distorted civilization. Is this really what you want for individuals, families, and society?" Geer's sneer was almost impossible to suppress.
Before Thanos could react, Gel continued, "You now have enough power to do the right thing. For emerging planets, we can guide them in various aspects such as resource allocation, technological development, and the continuation of civilization, enabling them to truly achieve long-term development. For planets that are already overburdened, we can guide them to other uninhabited planets, teaching them all the laws, agriculture, reason, technology, and so on, so that they can repent and reform. If there are any truly incorrigible ones, then we can forcefully suppress them. This is the truly feasible path. Do you want to take it?"
On the other end of the holographic projection, Gamora was already sobbing uncontrollably—she had followed Thanos, listening to him talk about his grand ideals. She knew they were wrong, but she had never dared to think deeply about what kind of mistake they were, or what the truly correct path was.
Because she knew that thinking about it was useless, it was better not to think about it at all, so that she could just keep her hatred for Thanos and bravely move forward.
However, Gel's words made her realize that Thanos was envisioning such a pathetic one, while there should have been a bright and reliable path to solve all the problems Thanos had mentioned.
If there is any ordinary voice that can be truly powerful, it is perhaps the voice that is echoing in her heart right now.
Thanos's eyes held a mixture of pity and a hint of joy at having successors: "Perhaps you successors can walk that path. But this universe is already overburdened. I must walk my path first to pave the way for you."
Ger scoffed, his face suddenly turning cold: "Fine! Fine! Fine! You want to use your power to impose on others? Then I'll use my power to nip your foolish idea in the bud!"
