Chapter 140 Odin's Death, Hela's Release from the Seal

"That's a buried history, something that happened before you could even remember. Back then, I also made an unforgivable mistake, waging war on all sides for Asgard and because of my own ambition. But later, I slowly realized my mistake, but your sister Hela, I gradually lost control of her ambition. So, I had no choice but to seal her away with my divine power. But after I passed away, there was nothing left to suppress her, and she immediately broke free." Odin recounted events from countless years ago, his tone tinged with melancholy and regret.

Wanda asked slowly, "What does Ragnarok mean? Could it be that Hela is very powerful?"

"Ragnarok, that's a prophecy from many years ago. It's the end of Asgard, the day when Asgard would be destroyed." Even as he spoke, Odin's expression grew increasingly serene. "I don't know the extent of Hela's power, but in the year she was sealed away, only I could surpass her. Moreover, her power comes from Asgard; the longer she stayed there, the stronger she became."

"What if we set the battlefield outside Asgard?" Loki suddenly interjected. Even if he lost his strength, his wisdom was not something anyone could take away.

Odin wore a peaceful smile: "As long as we are in the Nine Realms, Hela can summon the Rainbow Bridge on her own and return to Asgard. So as long as we are in the Nine Realms, she will return to Asgard in times of crisis. Therefore, changing battlefields is not an effective method. Moreover, the seal I cast on her with my divine power is only effective when I am in the Nine Realms. As soon as I leave the Nine Realms, the seal will immediately lose its effect. So all these years, I have never left the Nine Realms."

Apart from Frigga, who already knew everything, everyone else was somewhat shaken—the pain of Odin's impending death and the urgency of facing Hela as an enemy were mixed together, leaving them with a complex mix of emotions.

“I am about to embark on another path. The rest of the journey is for you to walk your own way.” Odin’s voice carried a hint of relief. “I love you, my children. I love you, Frigg.”

Odin looked around with loving eyes, finally settling his gaze on Frigga, who returned his gaze with deep affection.

Brilliant sunlight streamed in from outside the hall, falling upon Odin. Moments later, Odin's body slowly transformed into a ray of light and dissipated into the surroundings.

An atmosphere of sadness inevitably settled over the surroundings. After a moment, Frigga's voice broke the silence: "Children, the battle is about to begin. The future of Asgard rests on your shoulders."

Wanda wiped away her tears, slowly stood up, and said firmly to Frigga and Loki, "Frigga, Loki, Jane, I'll take you to a safe place first."

A moment later, a portal opened in the hall. Frigga did not insist on staying, as her weakened divine power would only be a burden if she stayed. She glanced at Wanda and Thor with concern, then took Loki's hand with one hand and Jane's hand with the other, and stepped into the portal.

“Thor, pick up your weapon.” Wanda took a deep breath and said to Thor, then turned to Vision, “Sorry, Vision, we need your help to fight Hela.”

Vision's power comes from the Mind Stone. Although Vision cannot fully utilize the power of the Mind Stone, under the guidance of Frigga and Wanda, his abilities have been growing dramatically almost every day.

Now, his strength has surpassed Thor's.

Hearing Wanda's words, Vision simply looked at her with deep affection, then smiled and floated into the air.

The three of them slowly walked out of the hall. At this time, there were no soldiers in sight, as if they had received Odin's message long ago and had retreated from the place.

A moment later, thunder rumbled in the sky, and then dark clouds surged toward the area, plunging the sky and the ground into complete darkness. Only the flashes of lightning within the clouds brought a sliver of light to the surroundings.

"Sizzle."

A strange sound rang out, and then black particles appeared out of thin air in the hall. These black particles gathered more and more, eventually forming a large clump that floated in the air. Moments later, a dazzling green light emanated from the black particles, and the powerful energy contained within even drove back the dark clouds on the horizon.

As Wanda sensed the increasingly intense energy fluctuations within the green light, her expression grew increasingly grave.

As the green light coalesced to the size of a door, a disheveled woman in armor, exuding an imposing aura, slowly emerged from the green light. She wore a cold, disdainful, and contemptuous smile, as if nothing around her was worthy of her attention.

With a half-smile, Hela looked around and then said in a chilling voice, "This place is so familiar. I haven't seen it for thousands of years."

As she spoke, she also noticed the mural above the main hall, and a contemptuous smile appeared on her lips: "There's even this painting. My 'good father' didn't destroy this history. That's really not like him."

Then, Hela turned her gaze to Wanda and Thor, and said with a wicked sneer, "So, Odin is dead? What a pity, I wanted to witness his death with my own eyes."

As she spoke, the green light and black particles behind Hela completely merged into her body and disappeared. No energy fluctuations were released from Hela's body, yet Thor inexplicably felt a sense of oppression.
