Peter nodded, and only after Gwen walked away did he lower his head to check the photos he had just taken on his camera. He didn't notice at all that a colorful spider was slowly approaching him from above.
"...using synthesized ribonucleic acid...these 15 mutated spiders were created." The teacher explained in front of the mutated spiders.
Gwen, who had just arrived, also fully demonstrated her meticulousness and thirst for knowledge as a top student: "14, teacher. There are only 14 here."
Just as the teacher stepped forward to confirm, Peter let out a soft, painful cry.
He quickly put down his camera and looked at the spot where the pain was coming from—his finger. Just as he was about to touch it, he heard Ger's voice from the side: "Don't move, I'll help you."
Ger carefully pinched the spider, "accidentally" got bitten, and then "felt pain" and threw the spider on the ground.
Peter looked at the identical bite marks on their fingers and felt a little embarrassed: "I'm sorry, Ger, I got you bitten too."
Gel waved his hand and smiled, "It's nothing, just a bite, it didn't hurt much."
As he spoke, Gel approached a nearby table, manipulated chaos magic, put the mutated spider that had crawled under the table into his pocket, and used chaos magic to control it, preventing it from running away.
The spider exhibit wasn't very large; we finished visiting it in less than an afternoon. After summarizing the lesson, the teacher dismissed the class.
A little tired, Harry looked at Peter, who was covered in sweat, and asked in confusion, "Peter, are you that hot? You're covered in sweat."
Peter felt unbearably hot all over and his stomach was growling as if he could swallow a whole cow. Clutching his camera, he said, "I'm fine, just a little tired from walking. I'm going home now, see you tomorrow."
Peter sensed something was off, but couldn't quite put his finger on it. He glanced at Gerl beside him and also noticed something was off about him: "Gerl, your face looks a little red too."
Ever since he was bitten by the spider, a mysterious change had been occurring within his body, which he had been forcibly suppressing with magic. Even initially, he worried that without the "protagonist's halo," he wouldn't be able to withstand the spider's venom. Fortunately, he later sensed with chaos magic that his body was improving, which put his mind at ease.
“I’m fine, just a little hot. Are you going home now?” Gerr asked Harry, trying to keep his expression normal.
Harry's face immediately darkened at the thought of going home: "Well, the driver just called me. He's waiting for me outside the exhibition hall. Should I take you home first?"
Gel shook his head: "No need, I can take the subway back, it's very convenient."
After saying goodbye to Harry, Gerr boarded the subway home. Along the way, he felt himself getting hotter and hotter, and his hunger grew stronger.
Back home, he immediately rushed to the refrigerator, grabbed the snacks and food he had stocked up on, and began to wolf it down. Luckily, Wanda and Pietro were away on a study tour with their teacher; otherwise, they would have been stunned to see their usually very image-conscious brother eating like this.
After eating, Geer felt so sleepy that he could barely keep his eyelids open. He forced himself to throw the spider into the small box that had been prepared and went straight to sleep.
