Chapter Two: A Minor Upgrade in Chaos Magic

"Ring ring ring".

The alarm clock rang precisely in the early morning, instantly waking Ger and causing him to open his eyes.

For a moment, he felt the world was clearer than ever before. The patterns on the ceiling, the structure of the light fixtures, and the dust floating in the sky were all magnified and displayed clearly and brightly before his eyes. The voices of pedestrians in the distance, the sounds of breakfast being prepared next door, and the chirping of birds by the roadside also entered his ears clearly but not noisily, as if amplified.

"Snap!"

Ger got out of bed, but heard a cracking sound from the floor. Looking down, he saw that the wooden floor beneath his feet had sunk a full five centimeters.

"His strength has really increased; I'm almost out of control. Luckily, I have chaos magic to repair the floor. I wonder how Peter is doing?" Gel used his magic energy to envelop the floor, instantly restoring it to its original state. He felt that Peter's house must have been badly damaged by Peter's sudden surge in strength.

Fearing damage to other facilities in the house, Ger simply used chaos magic to fly to the basement to practice controlling his surging power.

"Thump!"

With five-tenths of his strength, Ger slammed his fist heavily onto the custom-made punching machine. A moment later, a number appeared on it: 1000KG.

"My strength hasn't increased as much as I expected. Could it be that the increase has gone into chaos magic?" Ger took a deep breath, waved his hands, and streams of chaos magic emanated from his palms, enveloping the scattered barbells around him.

Under Geer's control, one barbell after another detached from the ground and flew into the sky!

A few minutes later, Ger, somewhat excited yet puzzled, abandoned the test and walked out of the basement: his abilities had improved, but not by much. At least, not as much as he had imagined.

"Does this mean I have to be bitten by the mutated spider a few more times?" Ger walked to the small box where the spider had been placed last night, wanting to be bitten by the spider again to see if he could gain a little more power.

However, when he approached the small box, he found the mutated spider lying there stiffly. Ger used his magic to sense it and found that the mutated spider was already dead.

"No way?" Ger was certain. Yesterday, he had been carefully protecting the spider with chaos magic. Now that the spider was dead, the only explanation was that it bit him and Peter, released all the venom in its body, and then "went offline."

"Ger, Ger!"

Just as Gel was feeling frustrated, Peter's anxious shouts came from outside. Gel quickly dealt with the spider using chaos magic and then opened the door.

The moment the door opened, Peter rushed in.

Seeing Peter's mixture of excitement and anxiety, Ger, though he had a pretty good idea of what was going on, pretended not to know anything and asked, "What's wrong, Peter?"

"Did you notice anything unusual when you woke up this morning?" Peter asked earnestly, looking at Gel's face. He had broken all the faucets and locks in the house due to his sudden surge of strength, and even found spider silk on his wrist. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was probably because he had been bitten by a spider the day before, so he immediately went to find Gel, who had also been bitten.

Gel forced a smile and nodded: "I've discovered that I'm stronger."

Actually, Ger wanted to act more excitedly, but he realized he had no talent for acting, so he simply gave up. Fortunately, Peter was excited enough at the moment and didn't notice anything amiss: "I feel terrifyingly strong right now. On my way here, I secretly moved a car parked on the side of the road, and it only took a tiny bit of effort to move it."

Gel finally caught on to the key point and looked at Peter with a questioning look: "You said you could easily pull the car outside?"

Peter nodded vigorously.

As if to confirm something, Ger reached out his hand: "Take my hand, let's try tug-of-war."

Peter thought that Ger was about as strong as him, but out of caution, he only used half his strength to pull Ger.

To be cautious, Gerr used all his strength from the start, but soon, Gerr's expression changed—the moment Peter exerted force, Gerr felt a great force coming from his hand, and then his body was uncontrollably lifted off the ground and flew towards the distant wall.

"ah!"

Peter cried out in alarm as he watched Ger crash straight into the wall.

As Ger watched the wall get closer and closer, he panicked and instinctively used his magic to control his body.

To Peter's astonishment, a gray "mist" suddenly appeared around Ger, and then Ger's body abruptly stopped in mid-air before slowly falling to the ground.

Peter rubbed his eyes, circled around Gel, and found that he didn't have any other devices on him that could help him fly. He looked up at the sky, wondering if he was really dreaming: he could understand the increase in strength, but the gray "mist" that appeared out of nowhere on Gel, causing his forward momentum to disappear instantly and making him hover in the air before slowly falling to the ground, didn't seem to be something that science could explain.

On the contrary, it's a bit like the magic he's seen in movies?

"Am I really dreaming?" Peter felt that today's events had truly challenged his worldview, so he couldn't help but pinch himself again, but the pain in his arm made Peter instantly realize that he was not dreaming.

Gel hadn't wanted to reveal his magical abilities so quickly, but now that they were, he decided not to hide them anymore. So he waved his hand, and a chaotic energy enveloped the barbell under Peter's feet. The barbell quickly drew an arc in the air and landed in Gel's hand.
