Chapter 55 Chicken Legs Meet Again

Chapter 55 Chicken Legs Meet Again

The girl standing at the door had long straight hair that reached her waist. Her face was as white as paper, and her pupils were dark and abnormally dilated, filling her entire eyes.

The sun outside was so bright, but there was no shadow under her feet.

Chang Xile's smile slowly faded. She rubbed her eyes, stood up and walked towards the door as if nothing had happened, muttering as she walked: "Is it because I didn't close the door? How did it open by itself..."

The girl was standing squarely in the doorway, forcing Chang Xile to pass through her if he wanted to leave. As Chang Xile approached, the girl's smile grew wider, and bright red blood continued to flow from the corners of her lips and eyes. Finally, she took a sudden step forward and screamed at Chang Xile, face to face.

"Wow!" The visual impact of this scene was so great that Chang Xile subconsciously squatted down with his head in his hands, and then he heard the girl laughing with her head tilted back.

"Hmph, still pretending! I knew you could see me." The girl said proudly, "Get up quickly."

Chang Xile held his head and refused to stand up: "I won't, I'm scared."

"You're so timid! Get up! I won't scare you anymore." The girl's voice suddenly dropped in pitch, as if she were crouching beside Chang Xile. She reached out and poked Chang Xile, but her fingertips simply pierced through him. She stared blankly at her fingers and whispered, "Do me a favor! I can't find anyone else."

Chang Xile slowly raised his face, opened one eye, and cautiously looked to the side. The girl's face was still as pale as paper, but she finally looked normal.

She lowered her arms and asked, "Are you Xiao Yang?"

The girl nodded and said, "My name is Yang Shu. We met last night."

Chang Xile asked again, "How did you know I lived here?"

Yang Shu smiled sheepishly: "I asked the cats in school, and they told me."

Chang Xile:?

"They'll tell you if you ask them?" Chang Xile said indignantly, "How can this be?"

She clenched her fists slightly and wanted to find a time to talk to the cats in the school - they couldn't just tell the ghost where Chang Xile lived, her heart couldn't take it!

Chang Xile compromised with a sad face: "Okay, tell me, how can I help you?"

Yang Shu became excited. She tried to grab Chang Xile's sleeve, but her grasp was empty. She could only anxiously say, "Please help me find the body of my cat. It..."

"All those preparing for battle will march forward in formation." A voice suddenly came from the corridor. After reciting this sentence coldly, she ordered, "Leave now."

Yang Shu screamed, her figure faded away, and then completely disappeared from Chang Xile's sight.

Chang Xile stood up in confusion. She looked around but couldn't find Yang Shu anymore.

Yang Guisi appeared at the door, carrying a takeout bag. She grabbed Chang Xile's shoulders, looked him up and down, and asked, "Are you okay? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere? What the hell was that just now?"

"It's Xiao Yang next door." Chang Xile was stunned, still thinking about what Yang Shu had just said. She asked again: "What did you just say? Did she disappear completely?"

"When I saw you squatting on the ground talking to the air, I knew you were haunted again. But how did she know we moved here?" Yang Guisi closed the door and explained to Chang Xile, "I'm reciting the Six Jia Secret Blessing, which is good for exorcising ghosts. However, the effect is only temporary. To be on the safe side, I'll write another talisman and stick it in the dormitory later."

Yang Guisi placed the still-hot meal on Chang Xile's table, then pushed her to sit down at the table. He touched her forehead and frowned, "It seems a little hot. Are you scared? Eat first."

She went back to her desk and rummaged through the drawers for a while before she found a thermometer and handed it to Chang Xile: "Measure it after you finish eating."

"38 degrees Celsius, you have a fever." Half an hour later, Yang Guisi looked at the thermometer in his hand and tilted his head and said, "Shall we take you to the hospital?"

Chang Xile shook his head listlessly: "I don't want to go out. I still have some fever-reducing medicine left. I'll be fine after taking it and having a good sleep."

"Okay, tell me again if you feel uncomfortable." Yang Guisi touched her head and turned back to draw talismans.

Chang Xile was bedridden for several days because of her illness. It was not until Fang Xinai and Ren Qing returned to school and the dormitory that she finally recovered.

"My poor Xile, how come you look so bad after just a few days?" Fang Xinai held Chang Xile's face to express his sympathy. After a while, he went to open his suitcase and said, "By the way, I brought some pastry from my hometown for you to try."

After Ren Qing finished packing her luggage, Fang Xinai solemnly returned the doll she had borrowed. "You know what, this doll is so lifelike. I always feel like it's looking at me when I sleep at night."

"Of course." Ren Qing took the doll, held it up proudly, and kissed it on the cheek. "My San Shuiqing, I haven't seen you for a long time. Did you miss me?"

"I'm so hungry. It's too late to order takeout. How about we go to the back street to eat?" Fang Xinai smiled, leaned on the table and looked at her, rubbing his stomach and suggested.

"What to eat?" Ren Qing asked.

"How about braised chicken rice? The one made by the Chicken Chef in the back street is so delicious. I've been thinking about the taste these days when I went home." Before leaving school, Fang Xinai became obsessed with takeout from a shop called "Chicken Chef" and ordered one almost every day.

"You haven't gotten tired of it yet." Ren Qing smiled and raised his hand and said, "Okay, I'll join."

Chang Xile and Yang Guisi had no objections, and the four of them packed up and headed out together. On the way, Fang Xinai passed by a shop selling fried chicken legs and shouted that it was a new internet-famous shop, so he went in to queue up.

"Otherwise, people on the internet say that college students are reincarnated weasels." Ren Qing laughed at her and listed the details. "Every day, they eat braised chicken, fried chicken, clay pot chicken, vinegar-fried chicken, chicken wings wrapped in rice, and bone-in chicken. I've never seen her eat any other meat."

"Chicken is the most delicious in the world! I'm a weasel and I'm proud of it!" Fang Xinai raised her head proudly. The boy in front of her who was wearing a sweatshirt hood on his head listened and looked back at her.

Ren Qing bumped Fang Xinai's shoulder and signaled her to speak more quietly, and the two girls burst into laughter again.

When there was only one person left in front of her, Fang Xinai tiptoed to look in the window. This fried chicken shop had been very popular recently, and since it was dinner time, there were only ten fried chicken legs left. She turned around and said, "We can probably buy one each."

However, the boy in front licked his back teeth and said to the clerk, "Pack up all these chicken legs."

"Huh?" Fang Xinai was unhappy when she heard that. She poked the boy and said, "Hey, we've been waiting in line for a long time. Can you give us four more? You may not be able to finish all the food you buy."

The man didn't even turn around, just stared at the clerk packing the chicken legs and said, "I can finish it."

When it was Fang Xinai's turn, the waiter said embarrassedly, "The next batch is still being fried. You'll have to wait about ten minutes."

"Forget it, forget it. I'll buy it after dinner." Fang Xinai didn't want to keep his roommates waiting too long, so he dejectedly took Ren Qing's hand and waved to Yang Guisi and Chang Xile to leave together.

Chang Xile was still staring at a figure in the crowd. Yang Guisi noticed and asked her, "What's wrong?"

"Before that person left, he looked at me with a strange look in his eyes." Chang Xile said, shaking his head, "It might be my illusion. It's okay, let's go."

When they arrived at the Braised Chicken restaurant, it was already packed. Chang Xile and her friends were lucky enough to catch a table that had just finished eating. The waiter rushed over to clear the table, and they sat down and began to order.

While waiting for the food to be served, Fang Xinai turned back to look for the trash can. When he looked away, he muttered, "Why is it him again?"

"What's wrong?" Ren Qing was confused.

"That guy, who looks like a reincarnated weasel." Fang Xinai pointed behind her and said, "It's useless to be handsome. He eats in such an ugly way."

Chang Xile looked up at the sound and saw a young man in a sweatshirt sitting at the table across from them. He had already taken off the hood and was concentrating on gnawing on a chicken leg. As Fang Xinai had described, he had a wolf-tail hairstyle, with the hair on his temples casually tucked behind his ears, revealing a pair of slightly pointed, elf-like ears. His eyes were long and narrow, with upturned corners, giving him an inexplicably cunning impression. However, his eating manners were also unrefined. His teeth were neat and sharp, and he would tear off a large piece of meat with one mouthful, leaving the corners of his mouth stained with oil. This was incompatible with his otherwise handsome appearance, and even gave him a bit of a beastly and evil nature.

While eating, he suddenly raised his eyes and looked towards the table where Chang Xile and the others were sitting. Ren Qing was so scared that she turned around and quickly sat down. She patted Fang Xinai's arm and said that she was talking too loudly.

Chang Xile couldn't avoid it in time, and happened to meet his eyes. The young man stared at her for a few seconds, then suddenly grinned, wiped the corner of his mouth casually with the back of his hand, stood up, carrying the bag, and walked towards their table.

"What are you doing... Are you going to hit anyone?" Fang Xinai muttered with a bitter face.

Yang Guisi cautiously held Chang Xile's hand and was ready to stand up at any time.

However, the young man simply stood in front of Chang Xile, handed her a still sealed bag, and asked, "Would you like some?"

Chang Xile blinked, pointed at himself and asked, "Give it to me?"

The young man nodded and looked at her intently: "For you."

Chang Xile looked at the chicken leg in the bowl, glanced at the other three people at the table, and then glanced at the strange young man across the table. He still hadn't figured out the situation.

"Xi Le, do you know each other?" Fang Xinai asked.

Chang Xile shook her head subconsciously, but hesitated for a moment. To be honest, the man's eyes made her feel very familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere before.

She picked up the chicken leg and didn't know whether to eat it or not. She asked Fang Xinai, "Do you want to eat it? Or should I give it to you?"

"No, no, no, no, it's a gift for you, so you should eat it." Fang Xinai shook his head repeatedly. Seeing the waiter brought the braised chicken with rice, he gestured, "The food is here, I'll just eat it."

Perhaps the young man really did know Chang Xile, otherwise why would he be so familiar with him? Dinner was served, and the episode ended. Chang Xile looked at the chicken leg and took a bite, carefully tearing a piece of meat from the head and chewing it slowly, avoiding getting his face stained with the frying oil.

A sudden inspiration struck her, and she looked up again. The young man, still fixed on her, used chopsticks instead of hands, and slowly took a bite of the chicken thigh, imitating Chang Xile's manner.

As he ate, the corners of his mouth widened into a smile, and he mouthed something to Chang Xile.
