Chapter 63 Boundary Trinity

Chapter 63 Boundary Trinity

Chang Xile and Anping walked downstairs, Yang Shu following them, completely silent. After a moment, Chang Xile's dazed mind finally came to its senses. She picked up her phone and started calling the police, while Anping wiped the wine stains off her cheek.

Chang Xile answered the phone, told the specific situation and address, and then sent a message to Yang Guisi to tell her the general situation, asking her not to return to the rental house in the next few days and to pay attention to safety. After everything was arranged, he put down the phone and began to daze again.

She had experienced many supernatural things these days, but this was the first time she had faced the malice of her fellow human beings, which made her feel a little dazed.

A gust of wind blew by, and the wine on her collar took away some of her body temperature. Chang Xile shivered, and Anping took a coat and put it on her.

The two of them stood there waiting for a while before Chang Xile felt her body slowly warm up. She came to her senses and asked him, "Where did you get that coat?"

Anping picked up a white hair from his head and showed it to her. He blew a breath into his palm, and the white hair instantly turned into a pair of gloves.

"One hundred percent pure cat fur?" Chang Xile felt the gloves and her coat magically, even feeling the warmth. She asked, "Didn't you go home? Why did you think of coming to see me again?"

Anping said, "I have nowhere to go." His tone was as calm as if he was saying that the weather was really nice today.

"How could that be? Where do you usually go after separating from me? Do you always stay in the studio or by the Linhuan Lake..." Chang Xile was very surprised, but she stopped halfway through her words. She looked at Anping's unchanged expression and knew that she had guessed right.

Then there was another silence. Chang Xile and Anping looked upstairs warily to make sure no one was coming down.

The police arrived soon. Some of them stayed with her to learn more about the case, while others went upstairs to look for the suspect.

But with the only access being the main entrance, the three men had already quietly left, unnoticed even by An Ping. Surveillance footage from nearby streets showed that only Chang Xile and An Ping had left the building during that time. Police then retrieved the building's surveillance footage, only to discover that it had "coincidentally" malfunctioned that evening.

Since this was not the first time that the two men had come to Yang Guisi and Yang Shu's home to harass them, the police took it very seriously and were also concerned about Chang Xile's safety.

Originally, Chang Xile could have returned to the dormitory with the police's assistance, but she glanced at Anping and said, "Let's stay in a hotel tonight."

The receptionist watched as the handsome young man and beautiful young woman in front of them argued for a while about who should pay for the room. Clearly there were only two people staying, yet they had booked a twin room and a king-size bed. The receptionist's gaze became inexplicably complicated.

Chang Xile didn't care about these things. She quickly paid for the two rooms and yawned as she beckoned Yang Shu to follow her: "Let's go. I'm so sleepy."

When Chang Xile opened her door, she realized An Ping had been following her. He was leaning against the door, with no intention of coming in or leaving. Chang Xile pointed to the door next door and told him, "This is your room."

Chang Xile suddenly remembered that when she was staying at Changleguan, Anping had slept with her as Suisui. She would lie in bed while he curled up at the foot of the bed, taking a nap.

But at that time, she didn't know he was Anping!

Chang Xile grabbed Anping's collar, his mood suddenly turning sour: "I've been so upset these past few days that I haven't had time to settle accounts with you. Anping, you need to figure out whether you are a cat or a human someday."

Anping didn't resist. Instead, he leaned down as she pulled his collar, looked into her eyes and asked, "So, do you want me to be a cat or a human?"

Chang Xile's breath stuttered when she first met his lake-blue eyes. She didn't give a direct answer, but said firmly, "You have no choice. You are a human being now, so you should go back to your room and sleep."

She let go of her hand, patted Anping's collar, returned the coat to him, and said, "Good night." Then she slammed the door shut, her movements revealing a hint of panic in her decisiveness.

But after Chang Xile closed the door, she felt a little regretful. She had forgotten to ask a question.

Anping had told Xiao Xie before that his name was chosen by someone else.

Who was that person? To be able to give him a name, he must be someone very important in Anping, right? But Chang Xile had never heard him mention this before. She was inexplicably brooding over this tonight, but her thoughts were completely disrupted by other things, and she hadn't found a chance to ask.

Forget it, go to sleep!

Chang Xile pointed to the other bed in the twin room and said to Yang Shu, "I don't know if you need to sleep, but I've left a bed for you."

Yang Shu was so moved that she finally spoke: "Thank you, Xile. I'm sorry for getting you into trouble tonight."

"It's not your fault." Chang Xile shook his head. "Everything is that scumbag's fault. You can also blame me for not being on guard enough."

After she finished cleaning up, she turned off the lights and whispered, "Go to sleep, good night." There was still a tough battle to fight.

On the other side, Anping was still looking down at the coat in his arms, which carried the girl's warmth and a faint fragrance.

Anping thought that he still wished he were a human.

So he swiped the room card and entered his room, washed and dressed in a somewhat unskilled manner, and finally lay down on the bed and covered himself with the quilt.

Long, long ago, the girl would hold it in her arms, they shared the same blanket and breathed at the same rhythm. Although sleeping on the ground gave it more freedom, and the weight of the girl's arms made it a little breathless, listening to her steady heartbeat, it slept more peacefully than any other day.

At this moment, Anping really wished he was just a kitten.

Anping turned over in bed and thought, are humans such contradictory creatures?

It was already seven in the morning when Chang Xile woke up the next day. Because the curtains were very light-blocking, the room was still pitch black. As usual, she squinted her eyes and picked up her phone to check her messages. She saw a bunch of missed calls and messages from Yang Guisi.

Wang Gui: [How are you now?]

Wang Gui: [Where did you live later? Who were you with?]

Wang Gui: [It's all my fault. I should have come out with you. Where are you now? I'll come find you.]

Wang Gui: [The police contacted me and said they've found two suspects. It just so happens that Old Wang's class this morning has been rescheduled to next week. Shall we go to the police station after you wake up?]

Chang Xile woke up immediately from her drowsy state. She called Yang Guisi back and made an appointment to meet him at the police station.

Then she saw the message Anping sent two hours ago.

Anping: [Maybe you need a new set of clothes?]

Chang Xile replied quickly: [What do you mean, you have one?]

Chang Xile wondered if he was going to create another set of cat hair tricks. How could he use his hair so freely? Didn't cats have the risk of hair loss... Wait, I'm getting off topic.

Anping responded quickly: [Open the door.]

Chang Xile turned on the flashlight on her mobile phone and got out of bed. She opened the door of the room, but the person was still hiding behind the door, leaving only a pair of eyes looking out.

Anping had already dressed neatly, with a set of clothes draped over his arm. He lowered his eyes to look at Chang Xile who had just woken up.

Chang Xile just glanced at him quickly, then used one hand to press down her bangs that were lifted up in her sleep, and with the other hand took the women's clothes from Anping's hand, and closed the door of the room without saying anything more.

An Ping looked at his empty hands, silent for a moment, somewhat confused. He returned to the bathroom and looked at himself again—his hair was smooth and shiny, his eyes bright and gentle. Something was wrong with him. Why didn't she smile at him at all? An Ping frowned and began to wonder—was his expression too cold?

Duobao and the others always say that Anping’s personality is not gentle enough and he should smile more often.

Anping faced the mirror, raised the corners of his mouth a little more, and revealed a standard toothy smile.

Ah, it’s still very strange.

He curled his lips again, sat back in the chair by the window in the room with an expressionless face, looked out the window, and waited for Chang Xile to call him when she was ready to leave.

Chang Xile went into the bathroom to change. She glanced at herself in the mirror. Her hair was sticking up in patches, her face had sleep marks from the wrinkles of the quilt, and there was a little saliva mark at the corner of her mouth.

She sighed in frustration, turned on the faucet and started washing, then changed into the clothes Anping had prepared for her.

It was a plain white dress, embroidered only with ruffles at the hem. Chang Xile examined it for a moment, feeling strangely familiar. But she didn't dwell on it; meeting Yang Guisi was the most important thing.

As soon as she came out of the bathroom, she found that Yang Shu was not in bed. Chang Xile turned on the light and looked around for a while before she found Yang Shu squatting in the corner with her back to her.

"Have you stayed here all night?" Chang Xile asked her.

"I can't sleep. The corner makes me feel safer." Yang Shu turned her head, and Chang Xile felt that her face had become paler.

"Wait a minute." Chang Xile looked at it for a while and found that she could almost see the pattern of the curtain behind Yang Shu through her body.

"What's wrong?" Yang Shu was confused. She sighed and told Chang Xile, "I've been feeling really tired lately. Is it normal for ghosts to feel tired? But I don't feel like I need to sleep or eat."

Chang Xile didn't tell Yang Shu about her new observations. She stood up and said, "I don't understand either. I'll ask an experienced ghost for you someday. I've got news from the police station. Do you want to come with me?"

Yang Shu shook her head. She sat on the ground and said, "I'm too tired to walk with you anymore. I'll go home first. If you need me, come find me."

Chang Xile nodded and sent a message to Anping to inform them to leave. She tapped the screen of her phone anxiously, feeling as if something invisible was whipping her to hurry up. It seemed that if she didn't do some things sooner, it would be too late.

When she left, An Ping was already waiting outside. He glanced at Chang Xile and grabbed her wrist. Chang Xile had already booked a ride, and now she looked at An Ping anxiously and asked, "What's wrong?"

Anping took out a white gauze coat from somewhere and handed it to her, saying simply, "Your wrist is red."

Chang Xile looked down and saw that the red marks on her wrists where the two men had dragged her yesterday were still very obvious, as if she was wearing two handcuffs.

"Thank you..." Chang Xile blinked and took the coat, but she glanced calmly at the surveillance camera in the corridor behind them, and then reminded An Ping, "Don't show off your special abilities where others might see you."

"Special" is a treasure that belongs to you alone, but it can also be a weapon used by others to stab you.

Yang Guisi was waiting at the police station entrance. As soon as he saw Chang Xile, he ran up to check on her and asked, "How are you? Are you injured?"

"I'm fine." Chang Xile smiled at Yang Guisi reassuringly and asked, "How's the situation now?"

The two men who had been playing cat abuse recordings outside Yang Shu's house for days and who nearly injured Chang Xile last night have been apprehended by the police. They are a pair of brothers, one named Zhang Bin and the other Zhang Fu. They don't have regular jobs and usually help people collect debts.

Upon seeing Chang Xile, they instinctively covered their injured wrists. The wrists of the two men who had touched Chang Xile last night were injured to varying degrees, appearing to have been forcibly twisted and sprained. Using the description Chang Xile provided, the police easily located the two men at a nearby hospital.

However, while they confessed to playing the recording, they refused to admit to surrounding Chang Xile last night. The surveillance footage certainly didn't capture any trace of them in the apartment, and as for the injuries on their wrists, Zhang Bin and Zhang Fu simply insisted that they were caused by a careless arm wrestling.

As for the third person at the scene mentioned by Chang Xile, Chen Moxin, there was no connection to the case. When the police found him, he had just finished a party and was fast asleep. Everyone at the party unanimously stated that he had been there all night.

"Also, how did you know that Zhang Bin and Zhang Fu had injuries on their wrists? Can you provide more detailed information about how they were injured?" the police asked Chang Xile.

An Ping was about to speak when Chang Xile held his hand. She gave him a look and then asked the police, "They have been harassing Yang Shu outside her residence to force her to repay the money. Is Yang Shu's sudden death related to them? Who is the initiator behind the Love Loan? Have you investigated?"

Several policemen took a look and told Chang Xile that they would investigate the relevant situation, but Chang Xile was just a victim of debt collection and had little connection with Yang Shu's case, so more detailed information could not be disclosed to her.

What Chen Moxin had said to mock her last night was actually true. Although Chang Xile had called the police, they didn't have enough evidence. Could it be that they knew he had a problem but were powerless to do anything? Chang Xile clenched her hands in anger, her fingertips digging into her palms.

An Ping silently pried open her fingers, and after feeling the little bit of resistance she still had, he held her hand and whispered, "Don't punish yourself for someone else's mistakes."

That little bit of resistance was extinguished.

As soon as Chang Xile and the other two walked out of the police station, her phone rang. Chang Xile took out her phone and looked at it. A familiar yet unfamiliar name flashed on it: Li Chuanliu.

Ah, it's the staff member of the Abnormal Death Management Bureau.

Chang Xile picked up the phone, and a cheerful male voice came from the other end: "Hello, how have you been recently? Do you have time to invite you to catch up?"

"No need for greetings. I'm very busy lately." Chang Xile closed his eyes and refused.

"I'm just worried the call might come too suddenly." The voice on the phone overlapped with reality. Chang Xile turned to look to the right. A man in a military green windbreaker and sunglasses hung up the phone and approached with his big white teeth bared. "I really have some questions for you. Can you come with me when you have time?"

Chang Xile put down the phone and asked, "Why do I always see you in places like the police station? How did you know I was here?"

Li Chuanliu took off his sunglasses and said with a smile, "I've already said that we are a legal organization, so we have some common information."

Organizations like theirs possessed a wealth of information, much of which was beyond the reach of people like Chang Xile. After a moment's hesitation, Chang Xile said goodbye to Yang Guisi and told him to return to school. She decided to go with Li Chuanliu.

Li Chuanliu turned sideways and pointed her in the direction of the car, then raised his hand to block Anping's chest. "Hey, my friend, what we want to discuss is confidential. You can't come with us."

Anping ignored him, easily deflecting his hand. Li Chuanliu hissed, sensing the other man's extraordinary strength from the previous exchange. He was shocked to find that someone as powerful as himself had nearly been injured. "Oh my god!" he exclaimed.

Chang Xile turned around and first scolded him disapprovingly: "Anping!"

Anping always obeyed her, but at this moment he was unwilling to give in. He glanced at Li Chuanliu and said, "I can't let you go with him alone."

Chang Xile knew what Anping was worried about, but ever since she knew Anping's identity, one thing she had always wanted to tell him was: since you have chosen to become a human, you should learn how to adapt to the rules of human society.

She leaned towards Li Chuanliu and said, "Let me have a word with him."

Li Chuanliu was also careless and didn't care: "Of course, please go ahead, I'm not in a hurry."

Chang Xile pulled Anping aside and said to him in a gentle tone, "Anping, have you noticed that apart from communicating with me, you don't interact much with other people?"

Many times, Anping would skip over the people he was talking to and only pay attention to Chang Xile.

An Ping looked down at her and asked, "Why do you want to contact others?"

Chang Xile rubbed her brows in distress and continued, "Because you already live in this society, you inevitably have to interact with people. Don't you cats have social etiquette? Today, because of me, you came into contact with Li Chuanliu, so it's my responsibility to interfere with how you treat him."

"Now, let me tell you, if you want someone to do something for you, you should politely ask instead of just doing it your own way. Do you agree?" Chang Xile spoke at length, her mouth dry. In the past, she wouldn't have cared about other people's behavior; everyone had their own karma. But Anping always gave her a feeling of being a newcomer to society. If she didn't hide her differences, how would she protect herself from bad people in the future?

Anping nodded thoughtfully.

Finally, Chang Xile breathed a sigh of relief. He watched Anping walk towards Li Chuanliu and politely asked him, "Can I go with you?"

Li Chuanliu also answered him politely: "It involves confidential information, so it's not allowed."

An Ping smiled back, then he pulled Chang Xile in the opposite direction and said, "Then she won't go."

Chang Xile: This didn't seem like the polite exchange she imagined.

Out of inertia, she followed him for a few steps, and Li Chuanliu quickly caught up and stopped the two of them. He looked a little helpless and said in a negotiating tone, "You can wait for her outside the building, but you can't go in, okay? This is the limit of my authority."

"Okay." An Ping answered readily. He turned to look at Chang Xile and asked, "Are you going?"

"...Go?" Chang Xile felt that Anping's social level had jumped several levels in an instant, and he even applied some knowledge of game theory.

When Chang Xile and Anping arrived at the building in Li Chuanliu's car, Anping got out of the car and really didn't bother to continue. Chang Xile followed Li Chuanliu forward and couldn't help but look back, but Anping was no longer by the car.

"What's wrong?" Li Chuanliu noticed that Chang Xile's pace slowed down and turned around to ask her.

"It's okay." Chang Xile shook his head and followed Li Chuanliu.

When they entered the elevator, it was already packed. They waited a bit before finding a relatively less crowded elevator going down. Chang Xile finally squeezed in and heard someone at the back of the crowd say "Huh!" and then mutter a few words, but no one else paid any attention.

When everyone left the basement floor, some people looked at Li Chuanliu and the others strangely, probably wondering why they didn't get off the elevator.

Li Chuanliu exhaled, and after the elevator door closed, he pressed the switch on the handrail at the edge of the elevator, and the elevator continued to descend to the fifth floor below ground.

After exiting the elevator, the two followed their previous route to the meeting room.

Li Chuanliu pulled a chair for Chang Xile to sit down and said, "Today, it's just you and I who are communicating. As usual, can we sign a confidentiality agreement first?"

Chang Xile read the regulations, confirmed they were correct, and signed them. He then glanced at his watch and said, "I have classes this afternoon. Let's get straight to the point."

Li Chuanliu paused before explaining his purpose. "We've noticed you've been in contact with an excessive number of deceased souls lately. Plus, you've been involved in unusual deaths before, so we're going to pay you a follow-up visit. Is there anything we can help you with?"

Chang Xile's focus shifted somewhat. She asked, "How else can you tell who has the most contact with the dead? How do you tell?"

"Hey... this."

Li Chuanliu was still struggling with the wording when Chang Xile interrupted him: "Is it also a secret?"

Li Chuanliu scratched his head a little embarrassedly.

Chang Xile leaned back in his chair and said, "If you can't tell me everything you know, how can I trust you with my life? Trust is mutual, Mr. Li."

"Hey, don't call me sir so seriously. It makes me look old." Li Chuanliu was a little embarrassed and subconsciously made a joke. After a while, he felt that what Chang Xile said made sense and had to tell her, "Actually, we have an instrument that monitors Yin energy. We can usually judge the situation based on it. The Yin energy in you is far above the standard. It's obvious that you have been in contact with a large number of ghosts for a long time."

"According to our conclusion, many of the ghosts that have been lingering in the human world have died abnormally." Li Chuanliu said sincerely, "So we wanted to come to you to understand the situation."

He looked at the girl in front of him, frowning and thinking.

Chang Xile recalled how many ghosts he had come into contact with: Dai Shanyan, the mountain ghost that had possessed Yang Guisi, Xiao Xie, and Yang Shu. He could probably count them on one hand. Was it really necessary to use the term "a large number" of ghosts?

She asked, "A large number of ghosts? Is there a rough numerical reference?"

Li Chuanliu gestured with the number three: "At least three hundred close encounters, not counting the ones I encountered just passing by."

"How is that possible?" If Chang Xile had encountered so many ghosts before, she wouldn't have been unaware. But Li Chuanliu didn't look fake, and there was no need for him to make up data to trick her into coming here.

"I did encounter a female ghost who died abnormally recently." Chang Xile told Li Chuanliu the general process of the Love Loan and also mentioned that Chen Moxin had abused cats.

"So, it was an abnormal death caused by human factors?" Li Chuanliu recorded Chang Xile's words word by word. He pondered for a while and felt that the matter was a bit tricky.

The Abnormal Death Management Bureau primarily oversees abnormal deaths caused by ghosts, while human-caused deaths are naturally supervised by human police. This limited the scope of what Li Chuanliu and his team could offer, but he still said, "If you need any help, feel free to contact me."

Chang Xile nodded. She glanced at the time, stood up and asked, "Can I go now?"

Li Chuanliu called her again.

"I know there are things you might not have told me completely, and I understand that." His usually cheerful expression suddenly turned serious. "From time to time, special people like you appear in this world, who have access to things that ordinary people can't see. But the rules of the Yin and Yang worlds are different. You must be extremely cautious and not easily trust the ghosts around you. For example, the two friends who followed you at the police station."

Li Chuanliu said, "They have a lot of negative energy accumulated in them, did you know that?"

Before Chang Xile could say anything, there was a knock on the glass door of the conference room. Xia Lai, whom he had met before, opened the door, holding a blue-eyed long-haired cat by the scruff of its neck, and said to Li Chuanliu, "How did a cat get in? Li Chuanliu, did you check carefully before entering?"

"Ah? Oh my god! When did it come in?" After seeing clearly, Li Chuanliu immediately hugged his head with a very painful expression.

Chang Xile and the lion cat exchanged bewildered glances. Contrary to its usual arrogant and indifferent attitude, the cat was now held in Xia Lai's hand without a struggle, its eyes wide open as it meowed innocently.

"Just be thankful it's a cat. If someone else comes in, you might get fired." Xia Lai's expression softened after hearing the cat's meow. She nodded to Chang Xile and then said to Li Chuanliu, "You'll lose your bonus this month."

Chang Xile silently raised his hand and said to Xia Lai, "Um... I'm about to leave, can I take this cat out?"

Xia Lai looked at her, then reached out and put the cat in Chang Xile's arms. The lion cat curled up quietly in Chang Xile's arms, very obedient.

Chang Xile looked at Li Chuanliu still lying on the table in regret, and said with a guilty conscience, "I don't want the compensation for this confidentiality agreement. You...you take it."

"Oh, forget it. I wasn't careful enough." Li Chuanliu stood up sadly and said to Chang Xile, "Come on, I'll take you out."

Chang Xile felt even more regretful. She secretly glared at the kitten, picked it up in her arms and followed it out. She tentatively asked Li Chuanliu, "How much is your monthly bonus?"

Li Chuanliu pressed the elevator button, looked up at the sky and was silent for a while before telling her, "Two hundred, I was planning to have a hot pot dinner at the end of the month."

Is life so difficult for the employees of the Abnormal Death Management Bureau?

Li Chuanliu put his hands in his pockets and gave a wry smile. "It's quite contradictory, isn't it? We work hard to maintain the balance between the Yin and Yang worlds, but if nothing goes wrong in the world, we'll have no work and no salary."

As Chang Xile walked out of the elevator, she let go of the lion cat, and it jumped out of her arms and disappeared into the crowd. Before the elevator door closed, she tugged at Li Chuanliu's sleeve and said, "I haven't had lunch yet, so I'll treat you to hot pot!"

The Abnormal Death Management Bureau was located in a commercial building, so finding a hot pot restaurant was easy. Anping arrived only after Chang Xile and Li Chuanliu had taken their seats.

While Li Chuanliu was mixing the sauce at the condiment counter, Chang Xile grabbed Anping and said to him unhappily, "You just made a poor worker lose his month-end bonus."

Anping nodded, his expression a little heavy: "What should I do?"

Chang Xile told him, "If you do something wrong to others, you should apologize. Do you understand?"

Anping expressed his gratitude.

When Li Chuanliu came back with the sauce and was about to show off his ancestral secret recipe to the two younger generations, he saw Anping bowing to him solemnly and saying, "I'm sorry."

Li Chuanliu:?

Throughout the meal, Li Chuanliu kept thinking about how Anping had wronged him. Was it because of the bumping into him when they first met?

After figuring it out, Li Chuanliu smiled with relief. He patted Anping on the shoulder and said, "It's okay, it's okay. I don't take it to heart." He thought to himself that young people really can't hide things in their hearts. It's a good boy if he corrects his mistakes!

Chang Xile chatted with him while helping to serve the dishes: "Is your office busy lately?"

Li Chuanliu thought for a moment and said in surprise, "I'm not really busy, but I just feel like there are a lot of things that are not right lately."

"For example?" Chang Xile asked.

"Lately, it feels like things are getting a bit more chaotic around Changle Mountain." Li Chuanliu paused, perhaps because he was discussing some confidential information. He suddenly pointed at Anping and burst into laughter, asking, "Can't you handle spicy food?"

Chang Xile then noticed that Anping had been silent for a long time. She had just served everyone the prepared dishes, taking charge, and for Anping, she had served the cabbage and mushrooms from the spicy hot pot.

Anping ate without warning, and soon his throat tightened and his lips burned. He gasped slightly, looking completely overwhelmed by the spiciness. Anping stared at the boiling red oil, wondering if this was Chang Xile's punishment. With that in mind, he heroically devoured all the food she had picked for him.

Chang Xile was about to burst into tears. She asked the waiter for a bowl of boiled water and handed it to Anping to eat. She asked him in confusion, "Why didn't you tell me you can't handle spicy food?"

Anping said nothing, but just started to peel shrimp for Chang Xile silently.

Li Chuanliu watched the two men's playful banter with a smile, and quickly grabbed another piece of beef from the pot. He sighed contentedly, "If only every day could be peaceful, I'd even be fine without having to eat hot pot forever..."

When they were almost done eating, Chang Xile looked at the time and immediately took a deep breath. She stood up and said goodbye to Li Chuanliu: "I'm really going to be late for class. Take your time eating. I'm leaving first."

"Let's go. It's been a while since anyone accompanied me to eat such spicy hotpot. I really enjoyed it!" Li Chuanliu said goodbye to them with a smile. Looking at Anping standing up and chasing Chang Xile's hurriedly leaving figure, he couldn't help but sigh, it's great to be young.

Chang Xile walked to the front desk, reported her table number, and prepared to pay. However, the waiter glanced at the bill and said to her, "The gentleman just now has already paid."

She turned around and looked at Li Chuanliu. He was still concentrating on eating hot pot, but he waved at them casually as if he had eyes behind his back.

Chang Xile smiled helplessly. She said to An Ping, who was also watching Li Chuanliu's back, "Did you see that? He's a good man, so I'm comfortable cooperating with his investigation."

Anping seemed to be thinking about something, and just slowly said "I'm sorry" in his heart to the back figure.

This time it is 100% sincere.

Chang Xile checked the time when she arrived at the classroom and finally breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that what Weatherall had said to her was right; her luck was indeed getting better.

Not only did she catch a passing taxi the moment she stepped out of the commercial building, but she also had green lights all the way to the classroom, using the last bit of time. The teacher taught literary history, and Chang Xile was deeply interested in her class and didn't want to miss a single moment.

Chang Xile quietly found a seat in the back seat by the window, and Anping sat next to her. Because it was a large class with several classes in the same classroom, Anping's presence didn't seem out of place.

After listening to the class for a while, Chang Xile finally calmed down. She looked at An Ping, who was listening attentively to the teacher, and asked in a low voice, "Can you understand?"

Anping nodded.

Chang Xile raised his eyebrows in disbelief, feeling that he was bragging seriously.

Chang Xile's daily favor shifted to Anping. When the teacher, flipping through the textbook, asked, "Any volunteers?" the entire classroom, those playing on their phones, dozing off, or chatting, suddenly froze. No one dared to look up and meet the teacher's gaze.

Chang Xile habitually lowered his head to look at the table, and noticed that Anping was still looking up at the big screen. He couldn't bear it and tugged at his sleeve, whispering, "Are you crazy? Lower your head... or else..."

Before she finished speaking, the teacher at the podium said with a smile: "The boy with white hair by the window, can you answer this question?"

Oh. Everyone in the classroom breathed a sigh of relief. Chang Xile had forgotten that in a large classroom like this where no one knew each other, dressing uniquely was a reason for the teacher to favor you. When Fang Xinai dyed her hair blue, she became a frequent target of the teacher's attention—"the student with blue hair."

She watched Anping slowly stand up with a look of silent mourning, wondering if she could give him some off-field assistance.

Unexpectedly, Anping only glanced at the screen again and fluently spoke a long paragraph in English. He didn't just read out a text, but instead fully expressed his understanding of the topic in English.

"Very good! This student has his own insights. What's your name?" The teacher raised his eyebrows in surprise, picked up the notebook, and prepared to give him extra points.

"Anping."

After hearing the answer, the teacher looked around the list with her index finger, a little confused. She said, "I don't think I see anyone with that name. Are you a student in our class?"

Anping smiled and said, "I'm sorry, I heard that Teacher Qian's class is very interesting, so I came here to audit it."

"Nonono, there's nothing to apologize for. My classes have always welcomed everyone. Anping, right? Very good. You're welcome to continue attending my classes later." The teacher smiled and gestured for him to sit down.

After Anping sat back down, Chang Xile asked him in a shocked tone, "You know English? Have you read foreign literature?"

Anping also imitated her whispering: "When I was bored, I wandered around and stayed in Europe for a while."

No one there would be curious about his special hair color.
