Chapter 82: Dream Garden As soon as I saw your eyes, I knew...
The distance between Jingmeng Garden and Shancheng University is indeed quite far. After a while, Chang Xile leaned back in his chair and looked toward the car window.
When they reached the gate of the villa complex, Master Zhang, who was usually talkative but had been silent all the way, finally mustered up the courage to ask Chang Xile, "Miss, should we park at the gate or drive inside?"
Chang Xile recalled the address and access code that Secretary Ye told her - Building 16 of Jingmeng Garden. The code was Chang Xile's birthday.
But she had never been there before and wasn't familiar with the layout of the buildings in this villa complex, so she couldn't give the driver directions. So Chang Xile simply grabbed her belongings and prepared to get out of the car: "It's okay, I'll go in on my own. You can just pull over."
When Chang Xile walked to the security office, he found that he needed to enter his fingerprint to enter.
Sitting in the security room was a security guard, presumably in his forties. Seeing Chang Xile hesitating at the door, he opened the window and asked, "Miss, are you here to look for someone?"
The people who lived in Jingmeng Garden were either rich or noble. There were countless types of luxury cars entering and leaving the gate. He rarely saw anyone taking a taxi, so he guessed that Chang Xile might be someone's classmate or friend, and it was hard to say for sure.
Chang Xile shook her head, a bit unsure of her own identity. Secretary Ye had offered her the house, but she had declined. Later, Daisy Gang suggested the house be used as an exhibition space for his paintings, and that she, his sole visitor, was always welcome to visit. She agreed.
So is she a visitor? But who is she visiting? She can't tell the security guard that she is here to visit a painting in a house, right?
Chang Xile had no choice but to say, "I'm going to Building 16 of Jingmeng Garden. The owner is Dai Xigang."
The security guard suddenly realized: "Oh, do you believe in Chang?"
Chang Xile nodded.
The security guard quickly stood up and walked out of the security room, opening the gate for Chang Xile. As the iron bars slowly opened, he said, "This is your first time here. Normally, we should have recorded your fingerprint information beforehand, so you wouldn't be stopped at the door. Would you mind coming back later? I'll contact the property management to arrange it. Or, please let me know the next time you plan to leave Dream Awakening Garden."
Chang Xile was choked by the series of "you" and was speechless. The other party just treated her as a young girl who came to visit, but now seemed to be frightened by the powerful force behind her, which made her a little uncomfortable.
The security guard patted his head as if remembering something and asked, "Do you know the way to Building 16? How about I lead the way for you?"
"No, no, that's not necessary." Chang Xile waved his hand quickly, "You should still be on duty, right? Just tell me the general route."
When Chang Xile finally followed the route and slowly walked, he began to regret not letting the driver in. Jingmeng Garden was truly too vast! This was also the reason why the security guards usually only saw cars and not people. Except for the few buildings closest to the exit, most residents were unwilling to walk out.
She sighed, then exclaimed, "Huh?" She took a few steps back to examine the building carefully before spotting the wooden sign hanging beside the gate of the villa she had nearly passed. The roses in the garden seemed unpruned, growing wildly and dangling from the railings. Their branches and flowers nearly obscured the sign, causing Chang Xile to almost miss the villa.
Chang Xile pushed aside the branches and leaves, and carefully identified the wooden sign with the words "Jingmeng Garden No. 16" engraved in beautiful calligraphy. It was definitely this building.
The electronic lock at the door can be used for both fingerprint recognition and password input. Chang Xile entered his birthday digit by digit, and the iron door slowly opened to both sides.
Chang Xile couldn't help but think that the iron gate opened and closed so slowly. It would be terrible if there was a gangster following her closely, or a horde of zombies chasing her not far away.
But these were not urgent problems. She looked at the large garden in front of her and the five-story red brick villa at the end of the gravel road paved among the dense plants, and sighed again.
Chang Xile had almost gotten used to a life where he could just hang his bag on the wall and lie down on the sofa. But why was it that here, even after reaching the door, he still had such a long way to go?
Chang Xile resigned herself to her fate and continued walking inside. She needed to enter the password once more at the villa's red oak door. After entering it, she pressed the doorknob and pushed it open, confronting the enormous painting that had taken her breath away.
From the outside, the villa appears to have five floors, but the first floor is a hall with a raised ceiling that connects to the second floor. Large floor-to-ceiling windows flank the wooden door directly opposite, allowing natural light to illuminate every detail of this bird's-eye view.
Chang Xile walked forward in a daze, then after a moment pulled out the purple laser pointer from his pocket and shone it on the spot where Chen Moxin had demonstrated it last time at Dai Family Villa. Sure enough, a plum blossom-shaped cat paw print slowly emerged where the gladiolus flower had been.
People have fingerprints and palm prints. Each person's fingerprint is unique and can be used to unlock devices and be tracked by the police.
The same goes for cats.
Chang Xile slowly picked up the painting tube she had brought with her and took out the painting of sunset from it. She shook her wrist lightly and the painting scroll fell down.
The ultraviolet light moved to the flying bird in the picture. Chang Xile didn't even blink. Invisibly, the two paw prints overlapped, without any difference.
Anping is Prosit.
Chang Xile took two steps back and murmured, "No wonder."
She had many questions that needed answers and many things she wanted to say to Anping in person, but she knew nothing about his current whereabouts.
"Anping..." Chang Xile's eyes were filled with doubt. The shadows of the shy, poor, and naive young man in the past were like a lake whose tranquility was broken by a huge rock, stirring up huge waves. "Who are you?"
"Knock, knock, knock."
There was a knock on the door, and Chang Xile turned back in surprise. Frowning, she slowly walked towards the wooden door from which the sound came.
A visual doorbell was installed next to the wooden door. After Chang Xile opened it, he saw the face of the visitor in the image.
The man was tall and slender, dressed in a black suit. He put one hand in his pocket, smiled at the camera, and mouthed, "Long time no see."
Chang Xile breathed a sigh of relief. She opened the door and asked, "Don't you know the password? Why don't you just come in?"
"I'm afraid I'll scare you." Daisy Port stood still and asked, "Then can I come in?"
Chang Xile let go of the doorknob and walked into the hall, saying, "This is your home, of course you can come in."
She wasn't surprised by Daisy's presence. The CEO was certainly busy, and wouldn't come to inspect a villa with only one painting for no apparent reason. He knew it must have been because the security guard had told him, just as the security guard had known her last name was Chang the moment she'd been in Villa 16. Someone had given them instructions.
Dai Xigang followed in and asked, "It's been so long since I gave you the gift, why did you only remember to come and see it today?"
Chang Xile looked at the painting and said casually, "I want to steal it and sell it."
Dai Xigang lowered his head and chuckled: "No need to steal. If you want to sell it, I'll let Ye Yuan transport it for you."
"But if you like this painting so much, why would you want to sell it?" Daisy Port looked at the painting with her and asked, "Are you sure you haven't encountered any difficulties?"
"Just kidding, I won't sell it." Chang Xile was talking when she suddenly felt that the question sounded very familiar. She turned her head and looked up and down at Daisy Harbor, then pointed at him and asked hesitantly, "Water Lane?"
Daisy Port touched his nose a little embarrassedly and said, "I'm sorry, you said not to do unnecessary things. I have been holding back and not disturbing you, but I happened to see your live broadcast that day and I recognized it was you at first sight. So..."
As he said, he was a little worried about Chang Xile's living conditions.
Chang Xile was about to punch him to express her anger. She said bitterly, "You have money to throw away? Just watch my live broadcast, why come to tip me? 500,000 yuan, and you have to give half to the platform. What a loss!"
Dai Xigang misunderstood. He reached into his jacket pocket for his phone and said helplessly, "Then I'll just transfer it to you? I won't get any commission."
"That's not what I meant!" Chang Xile was furious. "I don't need so much money. You're just throwing it away, don't you know? I've told my friends that it's okay to come and look at the pictures for fun, but there's no need to spend money."
"You didn't tell me." Daisy Port obviously didn't take her heartfelt words about "using money properly" seriously. He looked her in the eyes and said, "So, I'm not your friend, am I?"
"That's not it..." This sounded a bit too much. Chang Xile suppressed his anger and said awkwardly, "I didn't expect you to recognize me. I remember I wore the mask pretty well."
"I knew it as soon as I saw your eyes." Daisy Port looked into her eyes and said.
After looking at each other for five seconds, Chang Xile realized that the atmosphere was a little wrong. She lowered her head, still feeling a little awkward about taking so much money from her friend: "I'll return the part of the profit I took to you. It was obtained by the platform and my friend. I am not qualified to give it on their behalf." Of course, she couldn't afford it.
"No need." Daisy Port also looked away. He said, "I'm happy with my money, so it's worth it."
Chang Xile sighed and was about to say something when Dai Xigang said, "Look, does it look like the last time we were at Xiaoyu Temple?"
He smiled and looked up at the statue in the painting, saying, "Consider it your contribution to the creation of the golden statue of the Goddess of Laughter, and also consider it my blessing."
Chang Xile's gaze followed him to the portrait. She was silent for a moment, then nodded and said, "Okay, you can come and add some fragrance to the incense when the time comes."
Daisy Port seemed to remember something and asked, "By the way, Prosit's new work auction is about to begin. Do you want to go? I can take you in."
Chang Xile looked up suddenly and asked, "Will the painter himself show up by then?"
Daisy Port thought for a moment and shook his head. "I don't know about the others, but Prosit himself has never appeared in public. It's always his agent who's in charge of the auction."
Chang Xile nodded thoughtfully, but she still said firmly, "I want to go. Please take me with you."
Daisy Port smiled and said, "Okay."
He turned around and looked up at the house's decor, then asked, "Do you want to walk around the house? Or go back to school? I drove here, I'll give you a ride."
Chang Xile was only interested in this painting. She said, "I'd better go back. Thank you." She did not refuse Daisy Port's invitation. Firstly, because she had just used someone else's qualification to go to the auction, and secondly, because this place was really too far from the exit of the villa area and even her school!
