Chapter 13 I'll take responsibility for the trouble I caused.

As Zhou Siyu had predicted, upon hearing the news, Yu Wei disregarded Qin Ge's objections and rushed back to the military command headquarters that very day. He kicked open the door to Yu Zhen's conference room, startling the people inside.

“I’m going to the secret realm.” Yu Wei sat down and looked intently at Yu Zhen. “This matter was originally my responsibility.”

"Yu Wei, get out of here, don't cause trouble."

Yu Zhen felt a headache coming on. Neither of them was giving him any peace of mind. When Lin Gu heard that Chu Yunmu had an accident, he abandoned his work at the Eighteen Stars and rushed back in a hurry. He was just worried about how to deal with it when Yu Wei came to make things worse.

“I’ll take responsibility for the trouble I’ve caused. You can punish me however you want, but I absolutely have to go to the Secret Realm.”

"Xiao Wei, listen to your dad and go back right away."

The speaker was an elder of the Yu family, who could be considered Yu Wei's uncle.

"Dad, uncles and elders, I caused this mess, so I have a responsibility to bear the consequences and an obligation to make amends."

“Yunmu was implicated because of me; he shouldn’t have lost his life because of it.”

He was the commander-in-chief of the suppression mission, yet he allowed the rebel leader to escape from his grasp. The task of capturing the rebel leader should have been his. Chu Yunmu was only appointed to the mission because of his involvement. He should not have borne this disaster in the first place.

"Yu Wei, get out of here!"

Yu Zhen wanted nothing more than to kick this brat out the door. Couldn't he just live a peaceful life? Why did he have to go out and risk his life? He'd spent half his life running around; couldn't he stay and spend his last few days with them?

“Dad, you don’t need to lie to me.” Yu Wei smiled bitterly: “I know I don’t have much time left.”

“Xiao Wei…”

“Dad, Uncle, please let me finish.” Yu Wei took a deep breath. “Dad, I don’t want to spend my last moments in the hospital. I want to go and see what the Secret Realm looks like, to see the Orchid Bellflower, to see the Lianmu Grass…”

"Enough! Get out!" Yu Zhen pointed to the door. "Don't make me say it a second time."

"dad!"

"Guards, drag him away!"

"No need, I can walk by myself."

Yu Wei coughed a few times, turned around and walked past the guards. It was just a solitary confinement cell; it wasn't like he hadn't been there before.

“Old Yu, if you ask me, let Xiao Wei go.” A man about the same age as Yu Zhen said, “You know Xiao Wei’s personality. The more you restrain him, the more he wants to go.”

“That won’t do! The child is so weak right now, he should be resting in the hospital.” Another man spoke up: “The alliance has so many people, they don’t need him.”

These people had all survived the hail of bullets alongside Yu Zhen, watched Yu Wei grow up from a child, and treated him like their own son.

"Mr. Zuo, what do you think?"

Yu Zhen looked at the person sitting in the corner drinking tea outside the crowd; Yu Wei listened to him the most.

"Let him go." Zuo Li took a sip of tea. "The child is grown up and can't be kept at home."

"If it were half a month ago, I would have let him go without even blinking, but now... sigh..."

Yu Zhen sighed. He had forgotten that Zuo Li had always doted on Yu Wei and had never gone against his wishes.

“Let him go and take a look; he might actually be able to save lives.” Zuo Li stroked his chin thoughtfully. “After all, Kao comes from Etolan. Perhaps only Etolan has the solution.”

"Isn't this... too risky?"

A man frowned. The area had been a forbidden zone during the time of the Etolan Empire, and no one knew what was inside.

It is said that the rulers of the Etolan Empire were extremely ruthless, fusing the genes of various animals together to create a monster, and fusing human and animal genes to create many orcs.

“The current situation no longer allows him to continue to evade responsibility.” Zuo Li sighed, “If he doesn’t give the people an explanation soon, the Allied Army will probably be drowned in criticism.”

Due to public opinion, the alliance army is now extremely unstable, with many people starting to criticize Yu Wei, the Yu family, and even openly attacking the alliance's top leadership.

The crowd looked at each other, shaking their heads and sighing. Heaven is jealous of talent; Yu Wei is not even thirty years old yet.

Yu Zhen lowered his eyes and drafted the list. He never expected that the multiple-choice question he had skipped nineteen years ago would be placed in front of him again today.

Will anyone be willing to help him this time?

The announcement of the list caused a huge uproar. Yu Wei's name appeared prominently in the first row, followed by Lin Gu, Lu Qin, Wu Ming, and other people who had made contributions in suppressing the rebellion.

A close look at their resumes reveals that they are all people who retired from the Eighteenth Star's suppression of the rebellion.

Meanwhile, Yu Zhen gave an interview, responding to questions of public concern.

"Mr. Yu, we noticed that the people involved in this operation are all soldiers who have just returned from the battlefield. What is your intention in making this arrangement?"

"The list of participants was determined by a vote of the Military Commission. They are all outstanding young people with considerable experience in wilderness survival, which will increase the probability of a successful rescue."

"There are currently many false rumors about you and General Yu. What is your opinion on this?"

“Yu Wei is my son. He is outstanding and I am proud of him.” Yu Zhen smiled and said, “I know there are many speculations about me abusing my power for personal gain, and these rumors have greatly affected the normal life of our family.”

“I will file a lawsuit against the rumor-mongers in my personal capacity and will not give up my right to seek compensation.”

The scene erupted in commotion. Yu Wen, who was lying on the sofa watching the news, suddenly sat up. General Yu's father was so handsome, and he was also incredibly protective of his son.

"What are you looking at? Why are you so excited?"

Qin Ge dried his hair and stood behind Yu Wen, leaning down to hug his neck.
