Qin Ge contacted the control tower and, after receiving authorization, signaled Yu Wei to land. Yu Wei nodded and maneuvered the spaceship to land steadily in the wide plaza.
"Alright, get lost." Qin Ge waved his hand, kicked Yu Wei out the door, jumped into the driver's seat before Yu Wei could react, and quickly fled the scene.
"Qin Ge! Don't let me catch you..."
Yu Wei pointed at the increasingly smaller black dot in the sky, furious and impotently enraged.
The route to Yu Zhen's office was etched in his mind. Yu Wei walked quickly and easily to the office, but stopped at the door, hesitating whether to go in directly.
Why don't you go in?
A middle-aged man in a white coat, holding a cup and documents, appeared silently behind Yu Wei. Yu Wei was startled and bumped his lower back into the sharp corner of the flower stand by the door.
"Ouch! That hurts..." Yu Wei patted his chest with one hand and held his waist with the other, taking a few steps back to his feet: "Oh my god! Uncle, you scared me to death!"
"You were sneaking around the door peeking in; I'm being lenient by not kicking you face-first into the mud."
The man patted Yu Wei's head impatiently, opened the door, and kicked him inside.
"Big brother, what brings you here?"
Yu Zhen looked up from the documents, her gaze sweeping over the two of them. When she saw Yu Wei, her lifeless eyes suddenly lit up.
"This kid, he came without saying a word, just standing suspiciously at the door." The man pointed at Yu Wei and placed the documents on Yu Zhen's desk. "You two have a good chat, have dinner together tonight, and bring Xiao Ling along."
"I'll tell the other brothers later."
"You arrange it." The man waved his hand and patted Yu Wei's shoulder. "I'm leaving now. There's still a lot of work to do at the Martial Arts Research Institute."
"Uncle, let me see you off..."
Just as Yu Wei was about to follow, the man glared at him and said, "Stay here and honestly tell me what you've done, and we'll try to get you some leniency."
"Tsk, what can I do?"
Yu Wei muttered something under his breath, then turned his head to meet Yu Zhen's gloomy face. He turned his face away, a chill ran down his spine, and he took a step back without making a sound.
"If you dare to run, I'll break your legs." Yu Zhen glanced at Yu Wei, snorted coldly, got up and closed the door.
"Hiss... It can't be that bad." Yu Wei forced a smile and moved closer to Yu Zhen. "My dear father, I'm back with all my limbs intact..."
"You have the nerve to say that? How many times have I told you, don't pursue a cornered enemy..."
"Always be careful when going on a mission..."
Yu Wei laughed and interrupted Yu Zhen, looking at Yu Zhen with a grin, and unsurprisingly received a glare in return.
"Laugh, laugh, laugh! Have you been tickled? You've even learned to talk back."
Yu Zhen really wanted to slap Yu Wei, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. After all, he was her own son, and he had just gone through a life-or-death situation. He had finally come back, so she had to cherish him.
"No, no, I have been reciting Father's teachings every day and keeping them firmly in mind..."
Yu Wei held up two fingers, his face full of sincerity, his eyes clearly saying, "You must believe me."
"Come on, when have you ever listened to what I said? It goes in one ear and out the other." Yu Zhen raised her hand and gently placed it on Yu Wei's head. "It's good that you're back."
"dad……"
Yu Wei felt a lump in her throat, and tears welled up in her eyes.
"A 50,000-word self-criticism."
"What?"
The tears welling up in her eyes instantly welled up and she held them back. The warm atmosphere vanished in an instant, and Yu Wei stared wide-eyed in disbelief.
Is this his biological father?
What kind of father makes you write a self-criticism the moment you meet him? And a 50,000-word one at that!
He almost wondered if Yu Zhen had picked him up from some garbage dump.
"Handwritten, due next Monday."
Ignoring the shock and pitiful expression in Yu Wei's eyes, Yu Zhen walked to the sofa, sat down, and pointed to the seat opposite Yu Wei, indicating that he should sit down.
Do you know what you did wrong?
Yu Zhen poured a glass of water and pushed it in front of Yu Wei, placing her hands on her knees with her fingers interlaced, her back straight, and her face serious.
"We should not deviate from the established route, and we should not threaten the lives of ordinary people."
Yu Wei lowered his head, staring at the small vortex in the water glass.
"Anything else?"
Yu Zhen nodded in satisfaction. It was good that she hadn't become arrogant because of the news and had clearly recognized her mistakes.
"We shouldn't have risked chasing the attackers and forgotten our mission."
His mission was to escort war criminals back; anything outside of that mission was none of his concern.
"Very good, but you still forgot one thing."
Yu Wei looked up in confusion, and Yu Zhen met his questioning gaze and slowly said, "Your biggest mistake was being greedy for credit and rash, and not taking responsibility for your own life and the lives of others."
"Flexible decision-making is certainly a good thing, but it cannot be an excuse for irresponsibility."
"Your team members are under your command and obey all your orders, so you should be responsible for their lives." Yu Zhen took a sip of water, paused for a moment, and continued, "The battlefield situation is ever-changing, and it is especially important for a leader to maintain a clear mind, but ask yourself honestly, what have you done?"
"Being aggressive and ruthless..."
Yu Wei lowered his head. He was so engrossed in the fight that he had lost his mind and relentlessly pursued the enemy.
Fortunately, the enemy had no other ambushes, otherwise he would have been simply throwing his life away.
"If you make a mistake, you should be punished; if you admit your mistake, you should correct it." Yu Zhen put down her cup. "A five-thousand-word self-criticism, any more objections?"
He originally wanted to give Yu Wei a few lashes or something, but the others collectively objected, so he gave Yu Wei a light punishment on the grounds that he had rested for too long and had not received training.
"No." Yu Wei shook his head. "No objection. I'll definitely hand it in next Monday."
"Hmm." Yu Zhen nodded. "Don't forget to participate in training while writing your self-criticism. Your overall qualities are too poor."
"Okay." Yu Wei pouted, picked up the glass on the table, drank the water in one gulp, and stood up: "I'm going back now."
“You’ll be staying in the dormitory for a while.” Yu Zhen opened the coffee table drawer, took out a key and handed it to Yu Wei: “The place you lived in before you got married has been cleaned up, with toiletries and clothes provided.”
"Thanks."
Yu Wei took the key and put it in his pocket, but was stopped by Yu Zhen when he reached the door.
"Remember who you are now, and behave yourself."
Yu Wei has been left to his own devices for three years, and his behavior and habits have changed a lot, so they need to be corrected gradually.
"knew."
Yu Wei waved his hand. He was a human being, not a machine. How could he not have his own little temper?
