Chapter 8 Habits are a terrible thing

Zhou Siyu sat behind his large desk, stroking his chin as he fell into deep thought.

For the past two years, Yu Wei has come home early every night to clean and tidy the house. In the morning, she prepares breakfast for him, and after he finishes eating, she sees him to the door. No matter how late he stays out, she is always there when he calls. No matter how late he comes home, the lights in the house are always on.

During each fertile period, there are always suppressants prepared in advance at home. If there are none, Yu Wei will release pheromones to soothe her, but she always refuses to mark him.

He casually mentioned that Yu Zhen's rabbits downstairs were too fat and that he needed a dog to chase them. The next day, Yu Wei brought a little white dog home.

Zhou Siyu felt very uncomfortable with this person who was always hanging around him. It was too inappropriate for Yu Wei, a dignified general of the Alliance, to be constantly revolving around him!

Someone as outstanding as him should be pointing out the world in front of the sand table, leading new recruits in a 10-kilometer cross-country run with heavy loads, and sweating it out on the sports field, instead of wearing an apron to cook for him, serving him tea and water, and walking his dog!

However, to be fair, Yu Wei's culinary disasters are truly inedible. Why can't he learn from Lin Gu downstairs?

If it weren't for Chu Yunmu coming over on weekends to teach Yu Wei how to cook and make some delicious food to soothe his stomach, he would have packed his bags and run away long ago.

"President, can I take the day off for the company's annual meeting tonight?"

Yu Wen knocked on the door and poked half his head out. The president seemed to have something on his mind; he had been spacing out several times today.

"Not approved."

Zhou Siyu crossed his arms and snorted. He knew that Yu Wen and Qin Ge had been secretly having an affair behind his back, and they weren't even as serious about their work as before. There's no such thing as a lazy employee.

"But today is the weekend."

Yu Wen blinked. He and Qin Ge had made a promise to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks together, which only happened once a year.

"weekend?"

Zhou Siyu glanced at the calendar; it was the weekend, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, Chu Yunmu would be coming to her house today.

"Approved. Approved."

Zhou Siyu turned off the computer, grabbed her coat, and went outside.

"Oh? You're not going to the company's annual party?"

Yu Wen watched Zhou Siyu leave at lightning speed and muttered in confusion, "Didn't the president usually attend the annual meeting before going back?"

Zhou Siyu rushed home and hurriedly pushed open the door. Apart from the little white dog excitedly circling around him, the house was empty.

"Milk-flavored steamed bun, where's your dad?"

Zhou Siyu picked up the little white dog and rubbed its soft fur. She searched around but couldn't find it anywhere.

What time is it? Yu Wei isn't back yet, and why isn't Chu Yunmu here either?

Did he go home? No, that's not right. I didn't hear Yu Wei say he was going home.

Thinking of Yu Wei, Zhou Siyu tilted her head and looked around, suddenly realizing that Yu Wei hadn't come back last night either.

Zhou Siyu took out some biscuits from the refrigerator, stuffed them into her mouth, and then shared a few with the milk-flavored steamed buns. She then sat cross-legged on the sofa and watched the news.

"According to our station, yesterday, the Alliance's government office on the 18th Star was bombed by rebels, resulting in five deaths, twenty serious injuries, and dozens of people missing."

Zhou Siyu frowned and switched to another channel. He couldn't stand all this fighting and killing. Wouldn't it be better for everyone to sit down and negotiate properly? Be civilized, don't be so barbaric.

The Alliance controls 28 planets across four star systems, which are divided into one to four major star regions based on their technological and economic development. Each star region has seven planets under its jurisdiction, and each planet is managed by a government dispatched by the Alliance.

District One is home to the Alliance government headquarters, the Interstellar Police Department, and the Interstellar Supreme Court. It boasts the highest level of economic development and is a gathering place for noble families.

The fourth district is mostly undeveloped, with the lowest level of economic development. It is a recognized slum, and there is a secret planet known as the Death Star, where it is said that no one who goes in has ever come out again.

The Third Star Sector, where the Eighteenth Star is located, is rich in resources and is a major energy supplier, as well as the foundation upon which the Zhou family depends for survival. However, most of the land is unsuitable for growing food and relies entirely on the Second Star Sector for supplies.

The Second Star District is home to the headquarters of the Alliance's military command, the Oran Laboratory with the highest level of technological development, and a major grain-producing area. In a sense, it is the Yu family's stronghold.

Before the alliance was formed, each region was ruled by a different empire. After the war against the empire, the remnants that were not wiped out were called rebels.

Milk-scented Bun jumped onto the sofa and scratched Zhou Siyu's trouser leg, whimpering incessantly.

Zhou Siyu glanced at the time; it was time to walk the dog.

Like father, like son. Yu Wei feeds the dog milk-flavored steamed buns at fixed times every day and takes it out for walks at fixed times, which has instilled a sense of time in this happy little dog. It must eat on time and go out on time, or it will get angry if it doesn't.

"What's the rush? At least let me put on my shoes first."

Zhou Siyu, dressed in a suit and flip-flops, attracted countless eyes as soon as she stepped out. This casual yet business-like outfit was surprisingly attractive.

"Tsk, you've ruined my reputation."

Zhou Siyu followed the puppy slowly. When did Zhou Siyu ever go out without being a handsome, aloof, and elegant man in a suit? He was never so disheveled.

Passing by a supermarket, Zhou Siyu bought a few lollipops and put them in her pocket, intending to take them back to Yu Zhen's son, who had just turned one year old.

However, the little guy can't eat candy yet, so the candy will eventually end up in Zhou Siyu's mouth.

Zhou Siyu popped a pill into her mouth and looked down at the little white dog circling around her feet.

"You can't eat it." Zhou Siyu took out the candy, squatted down in front of the little white dog, and pointed to the four words on it: "It says here that the dog will die if it eats it."

"Pfft!"

A mocking laugh interrupted Zhou Siyu, who was earnestly trying to fool the dog. Zhou Siyu looked up and saw that it was Yu Zhen, who was out walking the child.
