☆, Chapter 42: Past Events

Zhang Ye felt that her address was a bit too intimate, but he didn't pay much attention to it. He said, "Well, that's not good. After Mr. Wen passed away, there were very few autographs left. How could I accept such a precious thing?"

"There's nothing to be embarrassed about. I have more than one autograph at home. The old man really loves drama. If my grandfather were still alive, he would definitely be willing to give the autograph to the old man." Wen Mianyu said.

"Then I would like to thank Miss Su on behalf of my grandfather." Zhang Ye did not refuse and thanked her gratefully.

Lu Congxu listened silently to the conversation between the two, as if thinking about something.

Zhang Ye added, "I heard the crew even borrowed the house in the hometown of actress Wen Jiabao for filming. That's Mr. Wen's former residence. If my grandfather knew I could go there with the crew, he'd probably be envious of me."

Wen Mianyu poured herself a cup of scented tea and said half-jokingly, "You can also take the old man over for a look. Employees' families are allowed in."

"If we have time, I'll let Grandpa go to the island to play." Zhang Ye said, turning to look at Lu Congxu, "I heard that Brother Lu and Film Queen Wen were childhood sweethearts. I guess he used to go to Mr. Wen's house often, so he must be very familiar with the island."

"It's okay." Lu Congxu's tone was so calm that no emotion could be heard. "I only stayed on the island for three years."

"Did Brother Lu go to the island to learn opera?" Zhang Ye asked.

"He's not." Wen Mianyu took over the conversation, looking at Lu Congxu teasingly, "Someone ran away to the island because of a quarrel with his family."

Lu Congxu met her gaze and his eyes moved slightly.

Media reports after he became famous all said that he went to the island to learn opera. Because Mr. Lu loved Peking Opera and highly admired its gentle and leisurely style, he brought his grandson to the island to learn opera from famous artists.

But in fact, this is just a misunderstanding. Lu Congxu has been influenced by his mother since he was a child and likes acting, but his father does not want him to enter the entertainment industry. He wants him to study finance first like other children from wealthy families and then take over the family business.

Lu Congxu was always persistent in what he believed in, so he went to the island to live with his grandfather and completed three years of high school.

It was also there that I met Wen Mianyu.

"Why is Brother Lu having a quarrel with his family?" Zhang Ye asked curiously.

Zhang Ye knew that Lu Congxu wanted him to be Su Moli's assistant, and assumed that they had a very good relationship. So it was not surprising that Su Moli knew about Lu Congxu's past.

But Lu Congxu knew that was not the case. He looked at Wen Mianyu deeply and took the initiative to test her for the first time, "When have I ever been upset?"

"No?" Wen Mianyu's eyes flickered, teasing even more. "But I remember when someone first arrived on the island, he was so aloof that he didn't even want to say hello to his neighbors."

"Brother Lu seems to be like this. He doesn't talk much now." Zhang Ye gave a fair evaluation.

"But I didn't know it at the time. I was so curious to see such a handsome young man on the island, so I watched him go downstairs every day when he went out and said hello to him." Wen Mianyu said.

"Then what?" Zhang Ye's curiosity was aroused.

"Then he would only reply to me with one word every time," Wen Mianyu said.

"What word?" Zhang Ye asked.

"Yeah." Wen Mianyu imitated Lu Congxu's cold expression and nodded slightly.

Her imitation was so lifelike that Lu Congxu didn't seem so high and mighty and unattainable anymore, and the distance between them was invisibly shortened.

Zhang Ye was so amused that he couldn't stop laughing. "It really is Brother Lu. So what happened next? If they were familiar with each other, Brother Lu would probably say more, right?"

"Of course. How can he still remain aloof if I pester him every day?" Wen Mianyu raised her eyebrows proudly and described to Zhang Yeke the story of the aloof actor in his youth with a beaming look on her face.

Lu Congxu listened silently, unconsciously recalling many past events.
