The old man turned around and found two loaves of bread and a bottle of milk in a box on the shelf. He immediately smiled and tears flashed in his eyes.
There is always a way out. He originally thought that his hope was dashed again this time.
His granddaughter had been hungry and had been unconscious for a whole day. Fortunately, she found some edible food, otherwise she really didn't know what to do.
When will this kind of day ever end?
I watched the old man stuffing bread into the child's mouth with water, but the child seemed to have lost consciousness and was unable to swallow at all. The old man was so anxious that he was sweating profusely. After a while, most of the milk was used up, but not much went into the child's stomach.
"Let's go." Tang An'an pulled Chi Yanhuai's hand, looked at the grandfather and grandson beside the shelf, and said calmly, "This is all I can help you with."
"Okay." The two of them moved quietly towards the door with very light footsteps.
The old man's eyes were only on the child, and he didn't pay attention to what was happening around him.
Because the distance was very close, the two of them quickly reached the door.
When Chi Yanhuai's hand was on the door handle, there was a noise behind them. Tang Anan looked back and saw the old man looking at the child in his arms with a happy face.
The child opened his eyes with a confused look. Tang Anan had good eyesight and could see that the child's eyeballs began to change.
Tang Anan's face turned grim. She quickly scanned the child's body and finally found a tiny reddish wound on her arm.
With the previous lesson in mind, Tang Anan acted directly and swiftly this time. The golden thread cut through the void and penetrated in front of the child, wrapping the thread around her neck. With just a thought from Tang Anan, the child's head would fall to the ground.
The old man's eyes widened, and he was anxious to remove the golden threads from the child's body. "Why are there so many threads? Don't be afraid, Xiaohui. Grandpa will untie them for you right away."
"Old man, your granddaughter has mutated and cannot be kept." Tang Anan said loudly. Her dark eyes were fixed on the child's situation. She glanced at the old man's confused expression and felt a little reluctant in her heart.
The old man looked over and was surprised to see someone else here. His old face looked even more vicissitudes of life. He said weakly: "Don't hurt her. This is my only grandchild."
He hugged the child tightly in his arms, refusing to let go, watching the darkness in her eyes gradually spread to the whites of her eyes, and a faint, sad sound came from her throat.
"Once a human is infected, there is almost no chance of survival. Unless she can awaken her special abilities, but unfortunately, she has failed to awaken." Tang Anan pursed her lips slightly and said in a deep voice.
"Child, put your things away." The old man looked heavy-hearted as he stared at his grandson in his arms. He then looked up at Tang Anan and softened his attitude.
"I know the consequences. Just go away and don't worry about us."
His voice was firm, as if he had already made a decision. The old man gently patted the girl's back and began to hum a lullaby.
There was a hint of confusion in Tang Anan's eyes. She didn't understand what the old man meant, but she vaguely sensed something.
Chi Yanhuai, who was beside him, saw the old man's determination, patted Tang Anan's shoulder, and said gently, "Put it away."
Tang Anan looked deeply at the grandfather and grandson, then silently put away her special ability. She blinked slowly and said to Chi Yanhuai, "Let's go."
Chi Yanhuai nodded, took Tang Anan's hand and opened the door.
Behind them, the girl who was no longer restrained suddenly jumped up, bit the old man's neck, and started biting it excitedly.
Tang Anan could only hear the lullaby gradually fading until it faded into silence. She couldn't help but glance back and saw the old man lying on the ground, his blood spilling out. The kitchen knife in his hand was covered in blood, and next to him was the blackened head of a little girl.
For a moment, a mixture of emotions surged in my heart.
