Chapter 14 The Price.

Chapter 14 The Price.

Looking at Mo Xiu like this, Xi Wenlin felt that every step the other took was hitting his nerves.

"Mo, Mo Xiu, what are you doing? I didn't mean to, he wanted to go deeper into the forest by himself. I couldn't stop him."

Instinctively sensing the crisis, Xi Wenlin could only hurriedly find various reasons and excuses to make up lies, hoping to get through it.

However, how could Mo Xiu possibly continue to listen to his nonsense?

If it weren't for him, Mo Qi wouldn't have been in this situation! He only lost one leg because there wasn't enough time.

Mo Xiu didn't want to waste any more words. She grabbed Xi Wenlin by the collar and gave him a good beating.

But Xi Wenlin still tried to fight back in his death throes. After being punched a few times, he realized that he was powerless to fight back, so he began to beg for mercy in a garbled manner.

Realizing that begging for mercy was useless, he shouted in a desperate manner, "Stop hitting me! Mo Xiu, the matter is already settled."

"That Mo Qi must have been bitten by a zombie! Why did you bring him back? Are you trying to put everyone in danger because of that idiot?"

Upon hearing this, Mo Xiu paused, but then swung her fist even harder.

This guy actually dares to deny that he brought the person there; he clearly knows about that zombie!

Mo Xiu broke several of Xi Wenlin's teeth, beating him until he was unrecognizable, his mouth full of blood, unable to utter a single word, before finally relieving his anger.

Noticing the changes in the expressions of the people in the group after hearing that Mo Qi had been bitten by a zombie, Mo Xiu said coldly to Xi Wenlin, "Do you really think I'm stupid and don't know your little tricks?"

After saying that, he looked at the others in the group and said, "There was no one bitten by a zombie. He's just exaggerating."

After saying that, Mo Xiu didn't care whether these people believed her or not, and went back into the car to check on Mo Qi's condition.

"How is he?" Mo Xiu asked Lu Pingwan softly.

The little girl was using a handkerchief she had wet with her water-based supernatural power to wipe Mo Qi's face: "He seems to have a slight fever, but I can't tell anything else about his condition."

"I have a few fever-reducing pills here, Mo-ge, do you think we should give them to him?"

Lu Pingwan frowned as she spoke, her face clearly showing her worry.

Upon hearing this, Mo Xiu accepted the fever-reducing medicine offered by the other party and nodded. He knew very well how precious medicine was in the apocalypse.

He will not let those who try to harm him and Mo Qi get away with it. He will also remember those who show them kindness.

They fed the medicine to the man and then tried giving Mo Qi some water. Fortunately, he could swallow it on his own without any problems.

Mo Xiu reached out and gently touched the man's forehead, silently praying that nothing would happen to him.

It was already close to dusk, and Mo Xiu knew that they could not delay any longer; Mo Qi also needed a better environment to rest.

So he quickly made a decision, started the car again, and set off with the others.

Xi Wenlin was truly like an unkillable cockroach; even after being beaten so badly, he still managed to drag his crippled leg to the car.

Mo Xiu drove very fast on the road ahead. What would normally take half an hour, he reached the next town in less than twenty minutes.

Then, he spent a little more time finding a spacious and comfortable courtyard, like a vacation spot.

After clearing out the two or three stray zombies, they took Mo Qi to the best room in the room.

As for the others, Mo Xiu had no interest in caring about them at the moment.

On the soft bed in the room, Mo Xiu could only hold the man's hand tightly, hoping that Mo Qi would pull through this ordeal and wake up soon.

"Mo Qi, please wake up? I really need you..."

Even though on the surface he was the one taking care of others, Mo Xiu knew very well that compared to Mo Qi's need for him, he actually needed Mo Qi more.

Deep in Mo Xiu's heart lay hatred and loathing for this world. Mo Qi, however, was half the meaning and support for his willingness to live well in this world.

He was unaware that Mo Qi had regained consciousness, or that he had been intermittently conscious on the way back.

Physical contact with Mo Xiu can help him absorb and circulate the energy in his body more quickly.

However, most of Mo Qi's strength was spent fighting against the surging power within his body, which is why he was unable to respond to the young man's problem.

Initially, after using his divine sense, Mo Qi wasn't sure if he could withstand the attack. The green crystal core of the mutated plant gave him a helping hand.

After absorbing the energy of the crystal core, Mo Qi discovered that although this energy made his body feel fuller, it could also help to quickly repair the damage inside his body.

Even with the help of this energy, it still made his life very difficult.

In addition to the side effects of his overly powerful divine soul, Mo Qi felt as if his body was being constantly shattered and rebuilt from the inside out.

Fortunately, Mo Xiu appeared, and his contact with her played a very good supporting role. It also allowed Mo Qi to completely relax and focus on fighting the power within his body.

No one knew that beneath Mo Qi's calm exterior, his internal body was operating at breakneck speed. And slowly, a rhombus-shaped core was beginning to appear in his dantian.

The core was a dazzling red, leaving Mo Qi, who could use his divine sense to peer inside, somewhat bewildered.

As a seasoned veteran in the cultivation world, Mo Qi initially wondered if he was on the verge of forming his core. But what kind of core is this shape?

And it's not gold, it's red instead.

This was really too strange for Mo Qi. Could it be because of this strange apocalypse?

Mo Qi couldn't figure it out, so he simply stopped thinking about it. Especially after discovering the core that resembled an inner elixir, the flow of energy within his body became faster and smoother, and he no longer cared about its unsightly color and shape.

Mo Qi could feel that his body had been greatly strengthened after this experience. His discomfort was getting weaker and weaker, and his expression was gradually calming down.

Feeling the man's breathing gradually stabilize, Mo Xiu breathed a slight sigh of relief. Judging from his condition, there shouldn't be any major problems.

She tucked the man in and wiped the sweat from his forehead. Mo Xiu looked up and realized it was completely dark outside.

The entire resort was quiet; most of the people in the group must have already gone to rest.

This small courtyard, used for resting, is quite spacious. Although it consists entirely of single-story houses, there are many rooms. People usually live in twos and threes in the same room so they can look after each other. There's plenty of room to stay here.

There were people on night watch in the courtyard, following a pre-arranged schedule.

The team members take turns keeping watch at night, but Mo Xiu is not among them. After this period of time, they have come to understand Mo Xiu's status and have very consciously and obediently arranged their own shifts.

After confirming that Mo Qi's condition had stabilized, Mo Xiu opened the door to the room.

He easily evaded the night watchmen, moving silently through the camp like a ghost. He found Xi Wenlin's room without much effort.

Xi Wenlin was severely punished by Mo Xiu today. Everyone saw clearly Mo Xiu's attitude towards him and knew what he had done behind the scenes, so no one was willing to be with him anymore.

Although humanity in the apocalypse cannot withstand the test, the presence of someone who has clearly stabbed others in the back still sends chills down one's spine.

As expected, Xi Wenlin was isolated and could only live alone in the worst room in the corner.

He was covered in injuries, and the pain was especially intense when Mo Xiu kicked him and broke his leg. Without painkillers, he couldn't fall asleep at all.

These injuries caused him to develop a high fever after nightfall, making him very sluggish. It wasn't until someone approached that he reacted, struggling to open his eyes and muttering, "Who's there?"

She looked up and met the young man's cold eyes.

"Mo, Mo Xiu! How come it's you..." He wanted to ask Mo Xiu what she wanted to do by coming to see him, he wanted to explain, he wanted to make excuses.

The moment he saw the other person, he even wondered if Mo Xiu felt she had gone too far with him and regretted it.

However, the next second, he no longer had the ability to have such wild thoughts.

The person opposite him snapped his neck, causing him to stop breathing completely.
