Chapter 15 A Blessing in Disguise.
Facing the corpse before her, Mo Xiu's expression remained unchanged, only the bloodthirsty red in her eyes seemed to intensify.
The anger and hatred that had been suppressed in his heart since his previous life, as well as the impulse to destroy everything, surged up in his heart once again.
He never asked for much; he just wanted to live well and to live as comfortably as possible with Mo Qi in this difficult apocalypse.
But this very person in front of me is going to ruin even this tiny, insignificant wish.
The biggest mistake Xi Wenlin made was not his trust in Puxin, nor his entanglement with Mo Xiu these days, but that he shouldn't have attacked Mo Qi.
If his target had been Mo Xiu, he might have been allowed more time. Unfortunately, he offended Mo Qi, who truly crossed Mo Xiu's line of defense.
He would never let Mo Qi get into trouble, and he couldn't bear to let the man be put in danger because of his wrong decision.
Therefore, Xi Wenlin needs to pay a price. He must nip the crisis in the bud.
After he finished doing all this, Mo Qi returned to the room to check on Mo Qi's condition.
The man's breathing remained steady, as if he had fallen into a deep sleep.
Mo Xiu gazed at him quietly for a long time before getting into bed and lying down beside him. He held him tightly in his arms, finally feeling a sense of peace.
“Mo Qi…”
Mo Xiu murmured the name to herself.
"You absolutely must not get hurt. If something happens to you, I really don't know what terrible things I might do..."
At that moment, Mo Xiu suddenly realized that Mo Qi was like a key that could lock the demon in his heart in a cage.
If he lost this only solace, he didn't know what he would do in this world he already hated.
This world is too dirty and ugly; he just wanted to keep the little bit of beauty that remained around him.
Feeling the warmth of those around her, Mo Xiu unknowingly fell asleep.
That night, he had a very long dream. It was a jumbled mess of dreams about many things, including things from his past life.
This made him feel incredibly exhausted.
Those hectic days, and the unreasonable demands made by those who tried to squeeze value out of him, made him increasingly irritable.
But later, Mo Qi appeared in his dream again.
Unlike his real experiences in his previous life, in his dream, he met Mo Qi much earlier. Although Mo Qi in the dream was slow-witted, the situation wasn't as serious.
With Mo Qi's help, he saw through the hypocrisy and disgust of those people early on.
They left the Shanhe Base together, ignoring those annoying guys, and lived their own cozy lives.
Although it couldn't compare to before the apocalypse, the days the two of them spent together still made him feel warm and happy.
Unfortunately, a dream is just a dream, and with a scream, the dream came to an abrupt end.
Mo Xiu opened her eyes and felt the sunlight outside had become quite dazzling. Judging from the direction from which the scream came, she knew that someone must have discovered Xi Wenlin's body.
Mo Xiu knew very well that once the other person's body was discovered, someone would definitely suspect him.
But he didn't care. Dealing with the other party at night was simply to avoid further trouble.
Humans are sometimes strange creatures; as long as they do a good job of putting on a show, they can easily deceive themselves.
Mo Xiu's kindness and soft heart had already been exhausted in her previous life.
She reached out and gently covered the ears of the person in her arms to ensure that Mo Qi would not be awakened by the piercing scream, and then closed her eyes again.
When I opened my eyes again, it was already noon.
Mo Qi had been awake for a long time and was quietly watching him.
When Mo Qi woke up, he felt that his physical condition was better than ever before.
Although he did suffer greatly yesterday, it must be said that he also benefited from the misfortune.
After surviving the crisis, Mo Qi discovered that his body had been completely transformed.
Although it is still somewhat difficult for him to fully bear the weight of his powerful soul, his control over his body has increased significantly.
In other words, even if it's slower, at least he can now move like a normal person.
He could even increase his use of divine sense a bit more. Of course, frequent use would still give him a splitting headache.
Moreover, the newly formed core within his body can help him cultivate more quickly. If he also receives assistance from contact with Mo Xiu, it will be more than just twice as effective.
This result delighted Mo Qi.
Looking at the sleeping young man holding him beside him, Mo Qi couldn't help but smile.
Being transported to such a strange world and losing one's powerful abilities is truly a terrible misfortune. But fortunately, he has some luck. Perhaps meeting this person before him is his chance for good fortune and a turning point.
Neither of them paid much attention to the commotion outside. After waking up, their attention was entirely on each other.
Seeing the man's gaze fixed on her, Mo Xiu smiled gently and reached out to touch his forehead.
Seeing that the man's fever had subsided and his complexion had returned to normal, she felt much relieved. She asked him, "How are you feeling? Is there anything else that's bothering you?"
Mo Xiu was just asking out of habit and didn't think the other party would actually give him any response.
To his surprise, after he finished asking the question, the man opposite him, though he hesitated for a few seconds, actually nodded and said softly, "I'm fine, don't worry."
A perfectly normal answer made Mo Xiu pause in surprise.
He couldn't help but sit up, wondering if he was hallucinating, and asked Mo Qi the same question again.
A hint of helplessness appeared on the other person's face as they replied, "I'm really fine."
"Are you not stupid anymore?" Mo Xiu asked in surprise.
It's important to understand that the other person's two sentences and corresponding facial expressions, while seemingly slow, were perfectly normal human reactions.
Hearing this, Mo Qi wasn't angry. Of course he wasn't stupid; it was just that he had some difficulty controlling his body before.
He nodded slightly, enjoying the surprise and joy in the other person's eyes.
"What's going on? You've always been..."
Mo Xiu wanted to say, "Weren't you always a little silly?" But halfway through her sentence, she realized that saying it might be hurtful.
Mo Qi understood what the young man meant, shook his head, and didn't know how to explain it for a moment.
He couldn't very well say that he wasn't actually the original owner of this body, that his soul didn't belong to this world, and that he was actually a demon lord from a cultivation world.
It was only because his divine soul was too powerful and not well-matched with this body that he ended up in that state before.
After all, he had been the Demon Lord for nearly a thousand years. It would be too embarrassing for him to be mistaken for a fool for such a reason!
Mo Qi was still struggling with how to explain it.
Fortunately, Mo Xiu didn't seem to intend to investigate further. Seeing that the man's condition had improved, he was genuinely happy for him.
In a world where we have no idea whether we'll live to see tomorrow, why do we need to know the answers to everything?
So, after the two got up, Mo Xiu helped Mo Qi get ready and dressed, just like always.
Perhaps it was because they had gotten used to each other over the past few days, even though Mo Qi was now capable of taking care of himself, Mo Xiu still didn't realize that she should let him do things himself.
Moreover, it is quite obvious that Mo Qi himself also enjoys being taken care of by Mo Xiu.
After washing up, Mo Xiu took out some food suitable for breakfast from her bag, intending to feed it to the other person.
When she saw the man open his mouth to be fed bread, Mo Xiu suddenly realized that she no longer needed to be fed like before.
However, just as he was trying to put the bread in the other person's hand so that he could eat it himself, the man opposite him showed a somewhat aggrieved expression.
One look at that pitiful gaze and Mo Xiu immediately surrendered, feeling that she had been defeated in an instant.
Even if Mo Qi's current situation is better, so what?
He had always been physically disabled, and his sudden recovery means that even if he wanted to learn, it would still take him some time.
Maybe he doesn't even know how to take care of himself, so isn't it only right that he does more?
Moreover, taking care of the other person's food, clothing, shelter and transportation gave Mo Xiu a strange sense of satisfaction.
Sunlight streamed through the window, falling on the pale face of the person opposite.
The sunlight seemed to coat the man's pupils with a golden hue. Mo Xiu saw him squint, seemingly enjoying the morning sun. He looked relaxed and languid, completely out of place in this apocalyptic world.
I always felt that taking care of Mo Qi was like taking care of a lazy big cat.
However, if it were truly a cat, Mo Qi would definitely not be the cute type; rather, the other party's appearance is rather handsome and sharp.
What breed of cat is this? A Maine Coon?
