Chapter 25: Can I have a kiss? (10,000 words)

Chapter 25: Can I have a kiss? (10,000 words)

Mo Qi was very unhappy, and when he was unhappy, someone else would suffer.

Moreover, in Mo Qi's opinion, although these men were very annoying, the one who was even more annoying was the guy who brought them here.

He remembered that the other person seemed to have a rather unique name, something like... Bian Tai.

Bian Tai, Bian Tai, he really thinks this person is a complete pervert!

They gave themselves a ridiculous name and did utterly worthless things.

Mo Qi was never one to suffer losses or tolerate anything, so he instantly gathered his divine sense and attacked the other party's brain.

When Mo Qi was the Demon Lord, he often taught those who displeased him this lesson, and he was very adept at it.

Although the power of divine sense that can be used is now much less due to the limitations of the body compared to when it was in the cultivation world.

But the problem is that his opponent, this guy named Bian Tai, is not a powerful cultivator, but just a level one ability user. How could he withstand such an attack?

Almost immediately, Bian Tai felt a splitting headache, lost his balance, and knelt on the ground.

He looked utterly undignified, but Bian Tai didn't care. He felt that he had never had such a headache in his life.

A few seconds later, he banged his head against the ground, making intimate contact with the ground several times before collapsing to the ground, motionless.

It looks like she has fainted.

Looking at this person's reaction, Mo Qi was truly unsure. Was the other person knocked unconscious by his divine sense attack, or by the force with which he slammed his head against the ground?

Regardless of the reason, Mo Qi didn't care; he considered this small punishment to be very lenient.

However, to those around them, it looked as if Bian Tai had suddenly gone mad, startling them all. They couldn't understand how this seemingly possessed scene had come about.

Those he had brought with him looked around in terror, worried that they might be attacked by some unknown mutated creature or supernatural power.

Mo Xiu frowned upon seeing this; he had been thinking of a way to refuse. And then this person just fainted like that?

Although the reason is unknown, it certainly saved him a lot of trouble.

Looking at the other bewildered men opposite her, Mo Xiu waved her hand, dismissing them, saying, "Alright, you can all leave now."

"Walk?"

Upon hearing Mo Xiu's words, the people exchanged glances. They had been instructed beforehand and knew exactly what their purpose was in coming here.

Although Bian Tai had fainted for some unknown reason, they were just leaving like that. How were they going to explain this to the deputy base commander?

More importantly, most of these people have no special skills and rely on their looks to make a living. They've finally found an opportunity to get close to a powerful backer, so why would they let it go so easily?

Before they came, they had all heard Xu Liang say that the person opposite them was a dual-elemental ability user of thunder and wind, with a promising future.

Moreover, this person treats his 'lover' very well. If I could follow him, I would definitely be able to live a good life in the Shanhe Base.

However, seeing that the other party was clearly uninterested in them, they couldn't help but hesitate. Could it be that there wasn't a single one of them who could catch his eye?

Because Bian Tai's fainting caught them off guard, they were momentarily at a loss for what to do.

Only one man named Xie Wu, seemingly without much consideration, stepped forward decisively and said to Mo Xiu, "Brother Mo, I don't want to leave. Can I come with you?"

As he spoke, the man tidied his hair and looked at Mo Xiu with anticipation.

Xie Wu was naturally handsome, with fair skin and a somewhat feminine appearance, and a gentle voice. Perhaps because of this, his face looked quite delicate.

So even if the other person doesn't deliberately use their advantages to make any pitiful expressions, they still seem to be more likely to soften one's heart compared to others.

If it were someone else facing him, they might not be able to bear it.

Unfortunately, standing opposite Xie Wu was Mo Xiu, whose heart had long since turned cold after experiencing countless chases and life-or-death battles in his previous life.

As for Mo Qi beside him, he was a demon lord who had transmigrated from the cultivation world, where the strong prey on the weak and the powerful are respected.

So, the two people opposite didn't even blink at the man's appearance.

Only Cheng Cheng felt sorry for him, but since the kid had no say in the matter, it was useless for him to feel sorry for him.

However, after Xie Wu stepped forward, the other men also expressed their desire to follow Mo Xiu and did not want to leave.

"No, I don't keep idle people here!" Mo Xiu said coldly.

Upon hearing this, Xie Wu gritted her teeth, glanced at Bian Tai who was still lying on the ground for some reason, and decided to beg him again to let her stay.

Before the apocalypse, Xie Wu was a veterinarian who opened a small clinic through her own efforts. Although she didn't earn much money, she was happy and content to do what she loved and be with the adorable animals.

Until one day, the end of the world suddenly arrived, and everything changed.

Xie Wu rushed home, only to find that his family had already turned into zombies. They rushed at him relentlessly, trying to tear his flesh apart, and Xie Wu could only flee in panic.

He suppressed his grief and found a group of survivors. After many hardships, they finally reached the Shanhe Base.

Even here, for an ordinary person without superpowers, although his physical condition is not bad, it is not an easy thing for him to live well.

He could endure the poor living conditions and the meager food, as long as he could survive. He always believed that as long as he was alive, there was hope, and the apocalypse would eventually end.

What he couldn't stand was that a while ago he had unexpectedly caught the eye of this guy named Bian Tai.

Ever since that chance encounter, this person has been harassing her, threatening and coercing her, trying to make her follow him.

Bian Tai was well-known, and Xie Wu knew all too well what kind of fate awaited those who followed him.

He was unwilling to endure this humiliation, but he also knew that he would find it difficult to resist the other party with his own strength. So after learning about Mo Xiu's situation, he took the initiative to run over and ask to join them.

He thought that if Mo Xiu and his lover really had such a good relationship, as long as he tried to stay, the other party might not necessarily do anything to him. He could work hard to seek the other party's protection.

However, because of Mo Xiu, Bian Tai wouldn't be so quick to harm himself.

Therefore, while everyone else hesitated when they heard Mo Xiu say that he would not support idlers, Xie Wu did not back down at all.

He looked very earnestly into Mo Xiu's eyes and said, "I'm willing. I can work and do many things. Please don't send me away!"

Seeing Xie Wu like this, Cheng Cheng felt even more tender-hearted.

Unable to hold back any longer, she whispered to Mo Qi, "Brother, look, can't we really keep him? He looks so pitiful..."

As soon as Cheng Cheng finished speaking, Mo Qi shot him a glare, and he immediately stopped talking.

Cheng Cheng's inner monologue: Waaaaah, the boss is so fierce!

Mo Qi's face was terribly pale, but Mo Xiu's was different. He had also been annoyed, but after noticing Mo Qi's glare at Cheng Cheng, his mood improved considerably, and he even felt a strange urge to laugh.

"You need to think this through. If you stay, I will absolutely not let you eat for free, nor will there be any chance of reaping the benefits without working for it."

I don't know if you've seen the people in my team before I arrived at the base. I used to make them do all the hardest and most tiring work, and when they went out to find supplies, they had to hand them over to me.

If you stay here, you might be living even worse than before.

Mo Xiu stopped being polite; he knew perfectly well that these people wanted to rely on him for a better life. But if staying back would backfire, would anyone still be willing?

As expected, just as Mo Xiu had predicted, the others hesitated after hearing this.

Only Xie Wu, who spoke first, nodded firmly and said, "I'm willing. I'll do anything as long as you let me stay!"

Now it was Mo Xiu's turn to be surprised. What benefits did Xu Liang promise this person that made him insist on staying? Even after she had said so, he still wanted to stay.

After much consideration, two of the five people did back down because of Mo Xiu's words, but two others, after seeing Xie Wu's persistence, also expressed their willingness to stay.

One person seemed to be bad at hiding his thoughts, and his gaze kept sweeping back and forth between Mo Xiu and Mo Qi, as if he was weighing something.

It seems they also know that Mo Qi is the 'lover' that Xu Liang mentioned before, the one who is by Mo Xiu's side.

Judging from Mo Qi's appearance, you can tell he's living a good life.

He was dressed cleanly and comfortably, looking pampered and privileged. There was even a large plate of fruit next to where he had just been sitting.

You should know that these fresh fruits are rare in the apocalypse. Even superhumans can't just eat them whenever they want, let alone ordinary people like them.

Being so generous to their lovers, if they were kept, perhaps they could live such a life in the future.

So, these two people, like Xie Wu, said they didn't want to leave, seemingly wanting to take a gamble.

Mo Qi took in the expressions of these people; it seemed they had quite a few ulterior motives.

It's really annoying how our own meal tickets are so sought after. But since they insist on staying, some other thoughts flashed through Mo Qi's mind.

So, seeing Mo Xiu frown and intend to refuse again, he reached out, patted the young man on the shoulder, and said, "In that case, let those who want to stay stay."

Meeting Mo Xiu's surprised gaze, the man smiled reassuringly at him.

Mo Qi had the two men who were about to leave carry the unconscious Bian Tai away, and then looked at the three men who remained and said, "Alright, since you're planning to stay, then get to work."

First, tell me, what are your skills?

The two who remained stammered after hearing this, seemingly unable to articulate their thoughts. One of them even stole a glance at Mo Xiu, causing Mo Qi's face to darken once more.

"If you keep looking around like that, I'll gouge your eyes out."

Mo Qi rarely acted so fiercely in front of Mo Xiu. The aura he exuded in that instant frightened the man opposite him, who had impure intentions, so much so that he dared not look at him again.

Mo Xiu could also sense his emotions. Seeing that the man seemed really angry, and even his speech was much faster than usual, she patted his hand reassuringly.

"If you don't like them, just kick them out."

In Mo Xiu's view, if they were really willing to work hard, they wouldn't have agreed to come and try to depend on him if they looked young and strong.

However, after Mo Xiu finished speaking, Xie Wu stepped forward very proactively and said, "I am in good physical condition and have good strength. I should be able to do all the heavy and miscellaneous work. Just tell me what to do."

Cheng Cheng thought his attitude was quite good, and even helped by asking, "So, can you cook?"

Of the four of them, Lu Pingwan is the one who usually cooks and eats for them.

Forget about our eldest son; he won't cook a single meal. Mo Xiu can cook a little, but his skills are really terrible.

It's not that it's bad, but apart from cooking noodles, it's just not tasty.

As for Cheng Cheng himself, he did want to help and even tried his best once. He almost blew up the kitchen, and was angrily kicked out by Lu Pingwan. He even got a hard slap on the forehead from the usually gentle and kind girl.

The bump on my head hasn't gone down even after two or three days.

He thought to himself that if this person could cook, then he could stay and help Xiao Wan.

Cheng Cheng's idea was quite good. Xie Wu hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said, "I can cook a little bit of food, so I should be able to help."

Although he usually orders takeout and eats at convenience stores, he can cook for cats and dogs, so I guess you could call him a good cook...

Seeing Xie Wu's enthusiasm, the other two also mentioned some of their own skills, but it was clear that neither of them was very sincere.

Mo Xiu could naturally sense the difference between them, and paid more attention to the man who had stood up to stay from the beginning, before asking him, "What's your name?"

"Xie Wu, my name is Xie Wu," Xie Wu quickly replied.

Upon hearing the name, Mo Xiu paused for a second.

Xie Wu, another familiar name. In his previous life at the Shanhe Base, he had heard of this person and even met him a few times.

He still remembered the first time he met this person in his previous life, when he had just entered the Shanhe Base.

Xie Wu back then was completely different from her current appearance; she was disheveled and looked like she had been tortured beyond recognition.

He was new to the area and had no idea what was going on. He only found out later from the older staff at the base that Bian Tai had taken a liking to her, but she refused to comply, proving to be a tough nut to crack.

But how could an ordinary person possibly defeat a superhuman? It was only because the other party angered Bian Tai that he turned into that state.

He never heard from Xie Wu again after that. However, when he saw her again a few months later, the man had changed completely.

Xie Wu seemed to have recovered by then. She wore heavy makeup and looked exceptionally glamorous, which made her very popular with Bian Tai.

Not only that, he later heard that Xie Wu had unclear relationships with many other of Bian Tai's friends.

At that time, Mo Xiu only sighed inwardly, but what surprised him was that half a month later, this person actually had the ability to kill almost all of those who had bullied him.

It is said that one night, he gathered those perverted scumbags together and said he wanted to play a big game.

These people were completely unaware that Xie Wu had laced the drinks he prepared for them with a potent drug, which poisoned many of them that very night. Moreover, regardless of whether they were alive or dead, Xie Wu had cut off the genitals of all of them.

Bian Tai was also poisoned, but he was lucky; he hadn't drunk much that day. So, although he also became a eunuch, he was saved.

After that night, Xie Wu left the Shanhe Base and disappeared without a trace; no one knew where he went.

From this perspective, Xie Wu is quite a formidable character.

After all, in this world, there are many ordinary people who suffer at the hands of others. But very few are able to find an opportunity to turn the tables, take revenge, and escape unscathed.

Even knowing who this person was, Mo Xiu still didn't react; he had long since passed the stage of being overwhelmed with sympathy.

If it weren't for Mo Qi's agreement, none of these three people would have been able to stay here.

However, after the other two people carried Bian Tai away, Mo Qi's next words made Mo Xiu burst out laughing.

"There's an empty lot behind the apartment building, you've all seen it, right?"

I will divide that area into three equal parts. The three of you must completely clear that area before dawn the next day; we plan to plant vegetables there.

Hearing Mo Qi's matter-of-fact words, Cheng Cheng blinked.

The open space below the apartment was quite large, and the three of them had to clear it out by the next day.

Let alone three people, even ten young and strong men might not be able to finish it.

This is really a case of treating people like beasts of burden, trying to exhaust them to death!

Mo Xiu smiled slightly. If he had known that Mo Qi was planning this, he would have regretted not keeping the other two people with him.

At worst, we can return it after we've finished it; maybe we can even get some more done.

The two of them thought about things in much the same way, and Mo Qi was making her own little plans in her mind.

Although Cheng Cheng's plant-based ability allows him to activate seeds at will, planting them in soil would yield even better results. Not only would the harvest be greater, but the energy consumption would also be significantly reduced.

Most importantly, fresh fruits and vegetables are very expensive now, so once they are ripened, they can be used to exchange for other supplies.

But Mo Qi didn't know when Mo Xiu would finish his revenge and they would leave the base. So even if this land was cultivated, it was uncertain how long it could be used.

If it weren't for these people, he wouldn't have pushed such hard work onto his own people.

As expected, after Mo Qi finished speaking, the other two people opposite him, apart from Xie Wu, looked very unhappy.

Xie Wu was mentally prepared, knowing that staying wouldn't be easy, but the other two were very reluctant.

In particular, they felt that since they had stayed, they were Mo Xiu's people, so why should they listen to this pretty boy on the other side!

They're all Mo Xiu's 'lovers,' so even if you're an old man, what's the point of pretending?

Before they could even refute her, Mo Xiu coldly said, "Mo Qi's meaning is my meaning. If you don't listen, get out now."

Since Mo Xiu had spoken, they had no choice but to obediently go to the vacant lot downstairs from the apartment building, no matter how unwilling they were. After all, it was just cultivating a small piece of land; how difficult could it be?

When they arrived, they realized they had oversimplified things. Could someone explain to them why there was such a large patch of wasteland behind their apartment, which was located in the heart of the base?

However, judging from the appearance, this place was most likely originally a garden used for landscaping and sightseeing, but it has been abandoned.

Is it a joke to reclaim such a large piece of land before dawn tomorrow?

They immediately assumed that Mo Xiu would object, but Xie Wu was the only one who noticed the already late hour and immediately asked Mo Xiu for tools.

Seeing that Mo Xiu didn't have any professional tools, he went to borrow some from others. After borrowing them, Xie Wu began to work diligently on his own plot of land.

Seeing this, the remaining two had no choice but to bite the bullet and join in.

After assigning tasks, Mo Qi stopped worrying about them. Back in her room, she leisurely ate fruit and casually asked Cheng Cheng to give her a massage.

Mo Xiu, on the other hand, slowly walked over to Mo Qi's side and said to Cheng Cheng next to him, "You can go out first. There's nothing for you to do here. Come back after dinner."

Cheng Cheng obediently left, leaving only Mo Xiu and Mo Qi in the room.

Mo Qi sat lazily in the chair, looked up at Mo Xiu, and gestured for him to speak his mind.

"Bian Tai just fainted, is that related to you?" Mo Xiu asked.

He only had a slight suspicion. Although he didn't think Mo Qi was responsible for this, the other party did indeed possess many amazing abilities.

For example, they are not afraid of the zombie virus, and they can make zombies lose their mobility and turn them into ordinary corpses by simply raising their hands.

Bian Tai's fainting was so suspicious that he thought of asking Mo Qi just in case.

He didn't expect that after he asked the question, Mo Qi on the other side would actually nod.

"Did you really do this? How did you do that?!"

Mo Xiu looked at Mo Xiu in surprise. He clearly hadn't seen the man do anything. Unlike when they encountered zombies before, at least the man would raise his hand.

So when and how did the other party manage to make Bian Tai faint, and how did he manage to make him appear to be in great pain before he fainted?

Mo Xiu's questions came one after another, leaving Mo Qi somewhat at a loss for words.

What could he say? Of course, he did it with his divine sense. But how do you explain his divine sense?

At first, Mo Qi didn't care much about these explanations; he just found them troublesome. But now, trouble is no longer his top priority.

Most importantly, he didn't want Mo Xiu to harbor any resentment towards him because of his transmigration and his past as a demonic cultivator.

After all, in this world, it's one thing for someone to have special abilities, but if that person's abilities completely break through their understanding and reach another level, that's a different story.

Those who are different are always more likely to become targets of attack, and he did not want Mo Xiu to be wary of or even reject him because of this.

Just as Mo Qi was struggling to figure out what to say, Mo Xiu suddenly had a flash of inspiration and excitedly said to him, "Could it be that you have a mental ability?"

If it's a psychic ability, then everything makes sense.

The attacker may have previously used mental power to damage the zombies' brains, rendering them immobile. As for Bian Tai, there's also a possibility he was subjected to a mental attack by Mo Qi.

Seeing that the man opposite her looked confused after she finished speaking, Mo Xiu patiently explained to him, "Psychic abilities are those that possess very strong mental power, which can inflict mental attacks on enemies."

Mental attacks generally target the target's brain region. Some people's mental abilities can even cover a certain area for reconnaissance, which is a very special and rare ability.

"Mo Qi, can you sense that powerful spiritual force?"

Attacking the brain? Reconnaissance coverage? Aren't those areas where his divine sense excels?

So, Mo Qi nodded to Mo Xiu.

Seeing the joy on the other person's face, he almost wanted to tap the button a couple more times. He wanted to tell the other person that his psychic ability was exceptionally powerful, definitely more powerful than any other psychic ability user he knew.

Since divine sense and psychic abilities are so similar, how can you say they aren't the same thing?

Perhaps the psychic abilities of the people here are actually divine sense, only at a lower level.

Unlike the powerful figures in the cultivation world, who could use their divine sense to do many things from a very early age, such as imprinting a divine sense mark, forming a contract, or controlling puppets.

Especially Mo Qi's divine sense, which has already reached the realm of ascension. If it weren't for the limitations imposed by his physical body, no one here would be his match.

Thinking of this, Mo Qi felt a little smug.

So what if he cultivated demonic arts in his past life? He's not just a simple demonic cultivator; he's a demon, the strongest in the cultivation world!

None of those so-called righteous and powerful figures could rival him. Mo Xiu finding him was like finding a treasure.

But then, just as he was about to open his mouth to boast, Mo Qi heard his own slow, deliberate speech and shut his mouth in frustration.

This body is really too weak. Even though he can finally control his body now, so that people won't still think of him as a fool.

But to outsiders, with his reaction speed, even if he's not stupid, he's definitely not very bright, which is really frustrating to think about.

Mo Xiu was unaware of the man's inner thoughts. Seeing that he didn't seem particularly happy after she revealed that he possessed psychic abilities, she assumed that he was unaware of the power of psychic abilities.

"That's great! Mo Qi, you actually have psychic abilities! Do you know how powerful psychic abilities are? This way, your safety is even more guaranteed."

Psychic abilities are among the rarest abilities in the post-apocalyptic world. Initially, people were unaware of the existence of psychic abilities.

After all, a level one psychic ability just means having a clearer mind, and there isn't much difference between them and an ordinary person.

At least in her previous life, during the years that Mo Xiu stayed at the Shanhe Base, her mental abilities had not yet been discovered.

It wasn't until later, after he was framed and forced to flee the base, that a few high-level psychic ability users appeared sporadically.

But it must be said that each of them is a pivotal figure in their own base.

It is said that as long as the level of mental ability is high enough, it is even possible to shield the ability user from the zombies' perception, allowing them to move through the zombie horde as if it were empty.

Judging from this, Mo Qi's level of mental ability should not be low, at least level one or above.

Otherwise, it would have been impossible to attack Bian Tai's brain and cause him to suffer a headache and fall into a coma.

"Mo Qi, I didn't expect you to be so amazing. It seems you have great talent; you might even be a genius!"

Mo Xiu said with a smile, he found that the more time they spent together, the more interesting secrets they discovered about men. Mo Qi was like a treasure trove, waiting for him to explore.

But if Mo Qi has so many abilities, how could he have fallen to such a state in his previous life?

Mo Xiu couldn't understand, but she had to say it. Ever since they were reborn and met again, everything had been getting better.

Perhaps this is their destiny. Having been given a second chance at life, they came together to become each other's salvation.

"You must have used a lot of your special abilities just now, are you feeling uncomfortable now?" Mo Xiu asked worriedly.

Mo Qi shook his head, but seeing the worried look on the other person's face, he felt inexplicably much happier.

He leaned over and hugged her tightly, closed his eyes, and buried his head in Mo Xiu's neck, enjoying this intimate moment.

The close contact accelerated the energy circulation within Mo Qi's body.

Each time he sensed such a change, Mo Qi found it magical, as if there was some higher-level contract between him and Mo Xiu that he couldn't see.

Why did you suddenly hug me again?

Mo Xiu chuckled softly, then gently embraced the man back, subconsciously ignoring the strange feeling in her heart.

"I want to hug you. It feels so good to hug you like this. My head doesn't hurt anymore, and I don't feel uncomfortable."

The man spoke in a muffled voice, rubbing against Mo Xiu's neck, making Mo Xiu feel ticklish.

Mo Xiu's smile widened, enjoying this sense of dependence.

He reached out and gently stroked the man's hair, saying softly, "You mean, holding me like this won't make you uncomfortable? Why are you so clingy?"

"Is it not allowed?" Mo Qi looked up at the young man upon hearing this.

He half-lay on Mo Xiu, even though he was a little taller than her, he deliberately hunched over and looked up at her, asking in a coquettish tone, "Can't I stick close to you?"

“Of course,” Mo Xiu replied without hesitation.

He reached out and affectionately ran his fingers through Mo Qi's hair, saying gently, "Your psychic abilities haven't been awakened for very long, and you're not very skilled at using them yet."

Why did you use it without even checking the situation? Now, do you have a terrible headache?

As Mo Xiu spoke, she sat down with him in her arms, gently pressing the acupoints on Mo Qi's head with both hands, trying to relieve his pain.

Mo Qi took a deep breath of the young man's pleasant scent, hugged him, and nodded.

While enjoying the massage, they couldn't help but slowly complain.

"It's that guy named Bian Tai again. He brought those insignificant people with him, and I don't like them!"

I just don't like him and want to teach him a lesson, so what?

Mo Qi thought to himself, his matter-of-fact tone making Mo Xiu smile helplessly. It seemed he really disliked Bian Tai, not even treating him like a human being, directly calling him a "thing".

However, he didn't expect Mo Qi to say that he was unhappy because Bian Tai brought those people over.

Mo Xiu liked Mo Qi's honest way of expressing himself, and was even more pleased by the possessiveness he showed.

Seeing that Mo Qi was unhappy, Mo Xiu indulged him without any principles, saying, "If you don't like him, you don't like him. If he makes you feel disgusted, it must be his fault."

"If you don't like him and want to teach him a lesson, that's fine, but you can't sacrifice your own body."

"Don't worry, he won't live much longer."

Mo Xiu made the promise softly, but a murderous glint flashed in her eyes as she thought of Bian Tai.

Having killed Ren Zha to vent his anger, Bian Tai originally planned to save it for later, waiting until he found the opportunity from his past life to restore part of his superpower level and be more confident before continuing his actions.

But since the other party had come knocking on his door and upset Mo Qi, he couldn't wait any longer.

Although it will be a bit troublesome, it's still better to put killing Bian Tai on the agenda.

Thinking of this, Mo Xiu looked at the man who was lounging on her like a big cat and patted his head.

She didn't feel there was anything wrong with the other person being so big, hugging him tightly, and clinging to him.

While continuing to massage Mo Qi, Mo Xiu closed her eyes and quietly pondered how to get rid of Bian Tai as soon as possible.

The two sat close together on the sofa by the window.

The warm sunlight streamed in, causing Mo Qi to squint. From his angle, through the apartment window, he could see the open space below and the three people who had chosen to stay.

Occasionally glancing over, Mo Qi would only see Xie Wu working diligently most of the time.

As for the other two, they were quite lax from the start. Later, it seemed they only reluctantly sped up a bit after seeing Xie Wu working so enthusiastically. But in terms of efficiency, they were clearly much lower than Xie Wu.

They worked like this until sunset. One of the workers, who had only done a little work, had already run away, leaving Xie Wu and another baby-faced boy to persevere.

"Boss, Brother Mo, dinner is ready!" Cheng Cheng's voice came from the doorway, and Mo Qi turned his gaze away upon hearing this.

Tonight's dinner is chicken stew with vermicelli, rice, and a big pot of potato and eggplant stew.

They don't use much oil, so they don't need to fry it too much. Lu Pingwan has been steaming her dishes more often lately, and then mixing them with some seasonings.

But eating steamed dishes all the time can get boring after a while, luckily Cheng Cheng's family seems to be very familiar with these stewed dishes.

He noticed a large jar of sauce among the seasonings the others had brought, so he told Xiaowan she could try picking some vegetables suitable for stewing and adding some sauce; the taste would definitely be similar.

Because of the kitchen explosion incident last time, Xiao Wan was still a little hesitant. But after thinking about it, she listened to Cheng Cheng's advice, and to her surprise, the stew tasted excellent.

She learned from Cheng Cheng to mix the stewed eggplant, potatoes, and rice together, and couldn't resist eating another bowl.

The room on the second floor was filled with the rich aroma of food, which wafted out of the window and could be clearly smelled by the two people working below the apartment.

The baby-faced boy immediately started drooling and said to Xie Wu, "Hey, let's go eat too, and then we can get back to work."

Xie Wu didn't say anything upon hearing this, but silently took out a pancake from his pocket, sat down on a rock next to him, and started eating it.

Seeing Xie Wu's reaction, the baby-faced man scoffed, thinking him to be a fool, and excitedly ran upstairs by himself.

He had smelled the stewed chicken long ago. He hadn't eaten anything this good in a long time, and he was determined to have a good meal today!

To his surprise, after finally getting the door open, Cheng Cheng, who was standing there, just gave him a strange look and asked, "What are you doing up here?"

Upon hearing this, the baby-faced man unconsciously glanced at the dining table in the room. Standing at the door, the aroma of the food became even stronger.

He couldn't help but swallow, his big, innocent eyes widening as he said pitifully, "Um, it's time, I'm coming to eat."

"Eat? Who told you that meals are provided here? If you want to eat, of course whoever brought you here is responsible for providing meals!" Cheng Cheng replied to what Mo Qi had just taught him very casually, and then slammed the door shut.

The baby-faced girl was left outside the door, staring blankly at the door, almost hitting her own face in the process, and nearly went crazy with anger!

Damn it, this is completely different from what Bian Tai told him before.

You know, he's been at the base for so long, and he's gained quite a few benefits because of his face.

Bian Tai also said he knew how to please people, and that dual-elemental ability user was a chivalrous woman. He was certain he'd eventually oust this Mo Qi and become the other woman's favorite!

For the baby-faced man, working outside is just a test. He only needs to put on a show and pass it. Things will definitely get better after that.

Who knew that this group of people would actually treat him like a beast of burden!

Especially that guy named Mo Xiu, he really couldn't see at all where the other party showed any tenderness or pity for women.

What's even worse is that after being here for so long and doing so much work, I haven't even had a bite to eat!

Feeling that he wouldn't gain anything by staying any longer, the baby-faced man simply quit and ran away.

Xie Wu was left alone in the courtyard behind the apartment. She silently and quickly finished the pancake in her hand, and then went back to work.

After dinner, Mo Qi stood by the window. Looking at the man still diligently working outside, she raised an eyebrow.

Through his divine sense, he could clearly see that the other person's palms were already blistered and bleeding. Even so, the person showed no sign of stopping.

He's quite resilient.

Mo Qi silently evaluated the situation in his mind, but he did nothing. After eating and drinking his fill, he lay down comfortably to rest.
