Chapter 171 The Mermaid Baby Delivers the Pearl

Wanwan was delighted to see her whale friend and beckoned it over with her little hand. However, after swimming closer, the whale suddenly turned a corner and slowly walked to Xiao Qi's side.

Everyone was stunned, and Wanwan was even more puzzled. Just as she was about to call out to it, the whale suddenly spouted a jet of water into the air. Seawater fell like raindrops, and the mist formed a dazzling rainbow arc under the sunlight.

"Wow..." Lin Yang'er opened her mouth wide in amazement and reached out to catch the transparent water droplets. "Wanwan, your whale friend is amazing."

Water droplets still clung to his bangs. Hearing Yang'er's admiring praise, he immediately became proud and even smoothed his bangs like his grandfather.

Since Wanwan doesn't have a mustache, she can only style her bangs.

“But…” Lin Yang’er’s voice lowered, she reached out and tugged at Wanwan’s arm, leaning close to her ear, but her eyes were looking to the other side, “Why is your whale friend so close to Young Master Xiao…”

Upon hearing this, Wanwan looked up and saw her whale friend affectionately approaching Xiao Qi.

Its near-blue skin throbbed, constantly moving closer to Xiao Qi, as if encouraging him to touch it.

Xiao Qi stood there stunned for a moment, then slowly raised his hand and tentatively touched the whale's skin with his fingertip.

The mist hadn't dissipated, and the rainbow created by the whale still lingered in the air. The silvery mist and dazzling light shrouded the person and the whale in a beautiful and mysterious hue.

Xiao Qi stood tall and straight. Although he was still small, he was still elegant and refined. When he reached out to the whale, it was like a communication between a marine spirit and a magical creature. It was an interaction that was hard to achieve just by looking at it. He was truly like a little fairy who had stepped out of a storybook.

The whale received positive feedback from Xiao Qi, and like a pampered kitten, it lazily rolled over in the seawater, stirring up the water and creating a mist in the air.

Xiao Qi couldn't help but laugh at the enormous creature's coquettish behavior. The whale seemed to understand his expression and let out a long cry, as if in response.

The fact that the two of them, one human and one whale, acted as if no one else was around actually made Wanwan a little angry.

What the heck!

The whale friend clearly summoned it himself!

It was surprisingly close to Xiao Qi, whom it had just met, even though it had never acted affectionately or rolled around with him before.

Wanwan stood there with her arms crossed, puffing out her cheeks, looking just like a little squirrel with its mouth full of nuts.

"Sister Wanwan." Lin Yang'er stretched out her hands and hugged one of her arms, rubbing her face against it. "I like Fairy Sister the most. I won't be like the big whale, fickle and tired of the old. Yang'er will always stay with Fairy Sister."

After saying that, she hugged Wanwan's arms even tighter. Wanwan turned her head and met Lin Yang'er's sincere and coquettish smile. The smile was like a small needle, puncturing Wanwan's emotions that were as swollen as a pufferfish.

"Hmph." Wanwan pouted nonchalantly, "That's right, that's right, I'm not going to pay any attention to the big whale when it comes back."

"Ignore it, ignore it." Lin Yang'er mimicked Wanwan's words, rubbing her cheek against Wanwan's arm, making Wanwan feel a ticklish sensation on her arm.

Looking at the other girl's adoring and happy face, Wanwan felt an urge to give Lin Yang'er something.

After carefully searching her little mind, she could only think of a beautiful and presentable gift.

“Yang’er likes me so much, and I don’t have as many things as Brother Lin to thank her with, so how about I give you this?” Wanwan said, reaching into her sleeve and pulling out a bead after rummaging around for a while.

The beads are milky white all over, small and exquisite, and seem to faintly radiate the colors of a rainbow. They look different from any angle.

The simple beads can give people the illusion of being dazzling.

"Wow..." Lin Yang'er was shocked again, her mouth wide open enough to swallow a small egg, looking even more surprised than when she saw the rainbow created by the whale.

"It's so beautiful, it must be very valuable. My brother said that Yang'er shouldn't accept such a valuable gift..." Lin Yang'er twisted the hem of her clothes with both hands, as if she was trying her best to suppress her excitement.

"This bead is curved. If Wanwan wants to give it to you, Yang'er can accept it." Wanwan smiled, her small face reflecting the light of the bead, making her even more beautiful than the bead itself.

"Wanwan, where did you get such gorgeous beads?"

Xiao Qi interrupted their conversation, and the two turned around to see him walking towards them with a smile on his face.

Although she was smiling, Wanwan still keenly sensed something strange; his question didn't seem as gentle as usual.

That makes sense. The Wan family runs a restaurant; how could a three-year-old child possibly produce such valuable items?

Isn't this deliberately trying to arouse suspicion?

Xiao Qi's brows furrowed almost imperceptibly. Why was Wanwan so straightforward, always doing such dangerous things?

What's the difference between a three-year-old child displaying valuable jewelry in broad daylight and going into the deep mountains in the middle of the night?

A sense of unease crept into his heart, and his expression involuntarily turned serious.

Wanwan's hand, which was holding the bead, stopped in mid-air. Meeting the other person's ambiguous expression, she couldn't help but feel a little uneasy. Her grandfather's words of reminder and blessing echoed in her ears for a moment.

It seems I can't tell him...

The conclusion was drawn in the little, curved brain.

"I...this..."

Wanwan is not good at lying. At the age of four, she has not yet been taught such a difficult communication skill, so she inevitably stammers when she speaks.

"Young Master Xiao, please don't make things difficult for Wanwan. This is Wanwan's stuff, so we don't need to worry about where she got it from..." Yang'er chimed in, the two girls looking just like naughty kids caught doing something wrong by their parents.

"Hey! Isn't this Wanwan?"

A rough voice interrupted the three of them again. Xiao Qi frowned, while Wanwan and Yang'er looked towards the source of the voice with surprise and delight. However, when they saw who it was, their mood immediately turned as if they had been doused with cold water.

The visitors turned out to be Wan Qiufeng and his young wife.

"Wanwan brought so many friends to play today!"

Wan Qiufeng tried to get close to her with a grin, but Wanwan ignored him completely. With a slight exertion of force, the bead rolled back into her sleeve.

"Waist!"

When the young wife Lin Sheng saw her, she was delighted and greeted her cheerfully. Only then did Wan Wan raise her little hand and wave back to the young wife.

Seeing that the two were like good friends, Wan Qiufeng grinned and a plan came to mind.

He knew that this little girl's swimming and fishing skills were comparable to an adult's. He had come today to fish for his wife to improve her health, and meeting her was a perfect opportunity to extort her and use this little girl to catch fish for himself!

"oops!"

As Wan Qiufeng approached, he first let out a loud sigh, deliberately so that everyone present could hear his complaint.
