Chapter 173 The Mermaid Baby Celebrates the Festival

Wan Qiufeng eventually returned home, both happy and embarrassed, carrying a net full of fish.

Wanwan swam ashore, and Xiao Qi's tightly furrowed brows slowly relaxed. He walked slowly to her side and carefully looked her over.

Seeing that she was unharmed, he relaxed a little and said, "Wanwan, be careful in everything you do. Don't get hurt, and don't let anyone have any leverage against you."

He knew that Wanwan had deliberately made Wan Qiufeng choke on water, and even though he knew she would be fine, he still couldn't help but give him a few words of advice.

For some reason, even though he hadn't known her for very long, his heart was already completely attached to this little girl.

Wanwan proudly raised her little face, "Wanwan knows, Wanwan won't get hurt."

She answered in a sweet, childlike voice, her clear and bright tone reflecting the sunlight on her proud little face, her fair skin almost glowing.

She felt that Xiao Qi was very different from the young man in front of her. Perhaps it was because they were of similar age, but he did not have the airs of an older brother and never criticized her for her behavior being inappropriate.

The fishing controversy quickly passed, and the festive days soon arrived.

According to the new custom, whales will be present at this year's festival.

Before the appointed time, everyone dressed up and headed to the festival grounds. The usually quiet coastline was packed with people, and children excitedly weaved through the crowd, eagerly searching for their usual playmates.

Wanwan found a good spot to observe whales, where she encountered Wan Qiusui, who was eating sunflower seeds, and Xiao Qi, who had come alone.

When Wan Qiusui saw Wanwan, she gave her a light glare. "Oh, I wondered who it was. Turns out you're the little star of this celebration."

Wanwan ignored him and silently moved closer to Xiao Qi, the two children standing side by side.

The emerald green ribbon on Wanwan's head and the flowing white ribbon on Xiao Qi's head danced in the sea breeze, like a beautiful painting.

In this light, Wan Qiusui, who was sitting idly by, cracking sunflower seeds and standing awkwardly, seemed completely out of place.

"Wanwan, what time is it? The auspicious time is almost here, why hasn't the whale come yet? Didn't you say the whale was coming back? Everyone came here to see the whale, don't play tricks on us."

Wan Qiusui spoke sarcastically, which earned her a warning glance from Xiao Qi.

His eyes were fierce, as if they held an icy blade. Wan Qiu Sui swallowed back the words she was about to say to kick someone when they were down.

That kid is so annoying! I'll definitely teach him a lesson when I get the chance!

Wan Qiusui thought bitterly, and clenched her fists involuntarily.

"Whale! The whale is here!"

Someone in the crowd shouted, and everyone craned their necks to look into the distance. They saw a small mountain of waves rising from the calm sea and rapidly approaching them.

A cheer erupted from the crowd. Amid the cheers, the whale drew closer, unleashing a massive wave and spouting a jet of water that shot into the sky.

Huge waves and columns of water merged, and a heavy rain began to fall, surprising and delighting everyone, bringing the festive atmosphere to a climax.

After the sea receded, Wan Qiusui had a large shrimp on his head. He looked at the cheering crowd, and after staring at Wanwan and Xiao Qi's jubilant backs for a while, his anger intensified.

There really were whales!

He was furious; he couldn't stand their happiness; he wanted to destroy them!

With that thought in mind, a wicked plan suddenly formed in his mind.

The whale in the water abandoned the cheering crowd and swam towards Wanwan and Xiao Qi. To everyone's surprise, the whale surfaced and approached the two of them to within a foot.

Wanwan naturally reached out and stroked its skin, saying thank you, "Thank you for your hard work, whale friend!"

The whale seemed to understand her words and spouted a small fountain into the air.

The interaction between the wanwan and the whale once again drew cheers from the crowd.

Suddenly someone threw food at the whale. Unlike trained animals, the whale didn't catch it and seemed a little annoyed after being hit by the food. Wanwan quickly went over to comfort it.

Honestly, didn't we agree not to offend the whales? Why are there still people who don't listen?

Wanwan was a little confused. Just as she turned to complain to Xiao Qi, she found that he was no longer by her side.

Strange, where did he go?

A sense of foreboding swept through Wanwan's mind. Connecting the disappearance of Wan Qiusui with the recent feeding, a dangerous idea formed in her head.

Could it be that Wan Qiu Sui deliberately stalled me so that someone could trick Brother Xiao Qi away?

For some reason, Baili Wanwan felt a panic she had never experienced before.

She sniffed and quickly parted the crowd to run towards the deep water area.

If someone were to harm the young man, the deep water area would be the first choice for committing the crime!

Just now, it was Wan Qiusui who ordered people to throw food into the whale. He wanted to kill Xiao Qi, and the first thing he did was to hold Wanwan back so that she wouldn't discover anything.

He then had someone impersonate a guard and trick Xiao Qi into leaving.

Xiao Qi was unsuspecting of his guards, thinking he would be back soon. Seeing Wanwan busy dealing with the whale's emotions, he quickly followed the guards out of the crowd.

Despite being a child, he lost track of his companion as he walked. The guards disappeared, and he himself found himself in the deep water.

There was no fence here, and even the shallowest part could drown a cow. Xiao Qideng immediately realized that someone wanted to harm him, and with cold eyes, he turned around to go back.

Unexpectedly, a tall and burly figure suddenly rushed out.

That person was none other than Wan Qiu Sui, whose face was contorted with rage. "Die!"

Wan Qiusui unleashed a burst of extraordinary power, pushing Xiao Qi into the sea. Only after seeing Xiao Qi truly fall into the water did he leave, satisfied.
