Chapter Two: The Mermaid Baby Wants to Repay a Kindness

Baili Wanwan raised her little head and squinted her eyes slightly.

As soon as Wan Suizhou entered the room, she noticed that the tall and upright grandfather had a warm, golden glow on him.

Although she didn't know what it was, it made her feel very warm and comfortable, and her whole body felt warm.

Seeing the little baby looking at him with bright eyes, Wan Suizhou couldn't help but pat her fluffy little head.

"Is Nannan awake? Is she feeling unwell?"

Baili Wanwan shook his head like a rattle-drum.

Wan Yuekui said boastfully, "Grandpa and I carried you back from the beach together! This coat is mine too!"

The beach? Was she washed ashore by the waves?

Baili Wanwan frowned slightly.

If it weren't for her grandpa and older brother, she might have been dried out by the scorching sun at the beach!

"Thank you, Grandpa and little brother!"

Baili Wanwan blinked, revealing two sweet dimples, and tilted her head back, saying in a childish voice, "Don't worry, I will repay you!"

She remembered someone saying that you must repay kindness, otherwise you will be struck by lightning while cultivating, turning her into a fragrant, charcoal-grilled dried fish, and then being eaten!

She doesn't want to make grilled dried anchovies!

Wan Suizhou burst out laughing when he heard that childish voice.

"Okay, okay, what's your name, little girl? Where are your parents?"

Parents?

Baili Wanwan's lips immediately pursed into a small arc, her fingers clutching the hem of her clothes: "Wanwan is lost, what are parents? Wanwan doesn't remember..."

Don't you remember?

Wan Suizhou had a bad feeling. Seeing the little girl looking down and aggrieved, he quickly picked her up with heartache: "It's okay, it's okay. Wanwan, stay here for now. Grandpa will help Wanwan find her father and mother, okay?"

Upon hearing that she could stay and wouldn't be sent back to be turned into dried fish, Baili Wanwan smiled again, patting her little chest and saying, "No need to trouble Grandpa, I can find it! Wanwan is super smart, I'll help Grandpa and my brother..."

She tilted her head and thought for a while before confidently saying, "I can catch small fish!"

There are many beautiful corals and shells on the seabed, which can be collected for grandpa and brother!

Wan Suizhou naturally didn't take the three-year-old's words seriously, but looking at the adorable little child speaking in a sweet, childlike voice, he couldn't help but want to tease him.

"Great! From now on, our family of five will all depend on Wanwan for making money!"

"Make money?"

Baili Wanwan tilted her head and asked curiously, "What is making money?"

Wan Suizhou's smile widened: "It's for exchanging for delicious food!"

Baili Wanwan's eyes lit up. "Delicious!"

She counted on her fingers.

One fish for one delicious meal, two fish for two delicious meals...

After calculating for a while and feeling a bit confused, the little mermaid simply gave up, patted her little chest, and readily agreed: "Leave it all to Wanwan!"

Wan Suizhou looked at Doctor Chen, who was smiling and stroking his beard, and held Baili Wanwan's little hand: "Wanwan, do you feel uncomfortable?"

"Wanwan, Wanwan gets a headache when she's thinking..."

Baili Wanwan touched her head and pouted.

Upon hearing this, Dr. Chen took the patient's pulse and examined his head for any wounds. Apart from a small bump on the back of his head, he found nothing serious and the patient was perfectly healthy.

Wan Suizhou frowned immediately. If there was nothing wrong, why couldn't he remember the past?

Wan Yuekui tugged at Doctor Chen's sleeve: "Uncle Chen, please check on my brother. He was pushed by that little rascal Wan Qiusui and he hasn't woken up yet!"

Wan Suizhou's eyes widened suddenly: "What!"

The two adults hurried into the inner room and saw Wan Yuechi lying on the mat, his face pale and his brows furrowed.

Doctor Chen quickly took his pulse and carefully examined the injured back of his head before his tense expression eased.

"It's just a minor injury; I accidentally bumped into a meridian, which caused me to lose consciousness. It's nothing serious."

He asked for some pen and ink and wrote down a recipe, then asked Wan Yuekui to go to his house to get it and prepare it.

The Chen family lived not far from the Wan family, so the medicine was retrieved quickly.

After finishing a bowl of thick, black broth, Wan Yuechi's expression indeed calmed down considerably.

Wan Suizhou was still worried, so he had Doctor Chen examine Wan Yuechi and Baili Wanwan again carefully. He only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that they were both fine.

After politely seeing Dr. Chen out of the house, Wan Suizhou inquired about Baili Wanwan's amnesia and learned that it was necessary to let nature take its course and not to stimulate her at will. Only then did Wan Suizhou return to the house with a serious expression.

"What happened?"

Wan Yuekui quickly recounted the whole story, not forgetting to mention his kidnapping of Baili Wanwan.

"That Wan Qiu Sui! So vicious at such a young age!"

Even if Wan Qiusui were his nephew, or even a complete stranger, he shouldn't have been so violent over an egg.

Wan Yuekui curled his lip: "If you ask me, Grandpa should just ignore their family from now on!"

Wan Suizhou remained silent for a long time before slowly nodding.

"I've been too lenient with them."

Seeing the fierce expressions on their faces, Baili Wanwan couldn't help but frown.

She stretched out her chubby little hand and gently took Wan Suizhou's weathered hand: "Grandpa, don't be angry. Wanwan and her brother have already given him a beating!"

Wan Yuekui nodded emphatically: "Wanwan is amazing, she even bit that bastard's hand!"

Wan Suizhou lovingly patted the head of the little girl he had just found, and looking into her pure and innocent eyes, a warm feeling welled up in his heart.
