She looked up at Zhou Yanjing and asked, "I just said that casually this morning, why did you really bring it back?"
Zhou Yanjing put down his bowl and chopsticks, picked up the towel beside him and wiped the sweat from his forehead, with a faint smile on his lips.
"I want to give you everything you like." His eyes fell on her face, with a hint of tenderness and determination in his eyes.
"Besides, it's rare that you ask for something to eat, I can't let you down."
Shen Liwu lowered her head, and gently fiddled with the grapes on the plate with her fingers. The purple fruits rolled around her fingertips, as if hiding some secret emotions.
Her eyelashes trembled slightly, hiding the complex emotions in her eyes. "Actually, you don't have to worry so much. I just said it casually..."
"Even if it's just a casual remark, you have to take it to heart." Zhou Yanjing's voice was low, with unquestionable seriousness. He reached out and gently held her wrist, the warmth of his palm passing through her skin and reaching her heart.
"You are the wife I begged for so long to marry. I said I would give you the best, so naturally I have to do what I say."
Shen Liwu's wrist was a little hot from being held by him. She raised her eyes to look at him and found that his gaze was burning, as if he wanted to wrap her up in his arms. She opened her mouth and wanted to say something, but she felt that all the words seemed pale and powerless at this moment.
Seeing this, Zhou's mother coughed lightly, breaking the silence between the two, "You two are so annoying. Even an old woman like me feels uncomfortable here."
Shen Liwu's face flushed instantly, and she quickly pulled her hand back, lowering her head and pretending to concentrate on eating the grapes.
Zhou Yanjing smiled, picked up the bowl and continued eating, looking calm.
Mother Zhou knew that Shen Liwu was thin-skinned and left without saying anything else. She thought that her son was a good person.
Zhou Yanjing finished the last bite of rice, put down his bowl and chopsticks, and looked at Chen Liwu tenderly, "I'll take you to the riverside later and see if you can catch some fish."
Chen Liwu raised his head, with a hint of hesitation in his eyes, "Aren't you tired? You just came back from work, do you want to rest for a while? You didn't sleep last night, did you?"
"Not tired." He stood up and stretched, his muscular lines faintly visible under his shirt. "Moving around will make you more energetic. Besides, you should go out for some fresh air. It's not good for your health to stay at home all day."
He didn't sleep at all last night and stood at the door all night. Of course it was impossible to tell her that.
Shen Liwu nodded, the corners of his mouth slightly raised, "Then, wait for me to clean up."
She stood up and cleared the dishes on the table with light and skillful movements. Zhou Yanjing looked at her busy back and felt a warm feeling in his heart. He walked up to her and took the plate from her hand. "Let me do it. You change your clothes and we'll be there in a minute."
Shen Liwu did not refuse, nodded gently, and turned to go into the house. Zhou Yanjing washed the dishes, dried his hands, and waited for her against the door frame. The sunlight came in through the window, shining on his face, looking particularly soft.
Not long after, Shen Liwu came out, wearing a light blue dress, with her hair casually tied behind her head, revealing her fair neck. Her complexion looked much gloomier than before, and there was a hint of anger between her eyebrows.
