Chapter 103 The Taste of Love (2/2)

Shen Liwu took the grapes, and when his fingertips touched the cold flesh, a warm feeling surged in his heart. She looked up at him and said softly, "Thank you for your hard work."

Zhou Yanjing smiled and shook his head, "It's not hard, as long as you like it."

Zhou's mother looked at them with a smile, her eyes full of satisfaction, "You two are really alike. You ran out to cut corn stalks and pick grapes early in the morning and didn't even have time to eat. Wuwu was worried that you were hungry and had no food to eat, so she put the food in the steamer to keep it warm for you to come. You two are really a couple."

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yanjing's smile deepened. He turned to look at Shen Liwu, his eyes as gentle as water, “Are you so worried that I’m hungry?”

Shen Liwu pursed her lips, the corners of her mouth slightly raised, but she did not refute. She lowered her head and fiddled with the grapes in her hand, gently twisting them with her fingertips, feeling the fullness and softness of the grapes.

The sunlight shone on her through the gaps in the leaves, and the mottled light and shadow made her face look even softer.

"I'll get you some food," she said softly, standing up and walking towards the kitchen.

Zhou Yanjing looked at her back, a hint of heartache flashing in his eyes. He knew that her moods were volatile and her body was weakened by pregnancy, but she kept thinking about starving herself. He sighed and followed him into the kitchen.

Shen Liwu was standing in front of the stove, carefully taking out the food from the steamer. The steaming white rice, served with a plate of stir-fried wild vegetables and a bowl of stew, instantly filled the entire kitchen with its aroma.

"Wash your hands first." She turned her head and smiled at him, motioning him to go wash up.

Zhou Yanjing nodded, walked to the sink and turned on the faucet. The cold water washed over his rough fingers. While washing his hands, he couldn't help but glance up at her. Her movements were skillful and calm, as if all of this was natural. But he knew that behind this calmness was her care and consideration for him.

After washing his hands, he walked to the table and sat down. Shen Liwu handed the bowl to him and said softly, “Eat quickly, don’t starve.”

Zhou Yanjing took the bowl, picked up a piece of wild vegetable with chopsticks and put it into his mouth. The fragrance of wild vegetables and the delicious taste of the soup burst on his tongue, and he couldn't help but praise: "Your cooking is still the best."

"How do you know I did this?" Shen Liwu propped up his chin and looked at him.

"Mom can't make food taste this good." Zhou Yanjing smiled with satisfaction.

"What does it smell like?"

“The smell of love.”

Shen Liwu snorted lightly, but the corners of his mouth rose unconsciously, with a hint of pride in his eyes.

"Smooth talk."

Zhou Yanjing smiled but said nothing, and continued to eat. The steam from the rice hung on his face, and the mixture of sweat and heat seemed particularly real.

His eating manners were not elegant, and even a little anxious, but he took every bite with great satisfaction, as if it was the most delicious delicacy in the world.

Shen Liwu looked at him quietly. Mother Zhou brought the washed wild grapes over and placed them on the table. "Wuwu, I have washed the grapes. They are a little sweet and sour. Try them and see if you like them."

"Thank you, Mom."

The purple color of the grapes glitters and shines under the light, making them as attractive as gems.

"Try it, you'll like it." Zhou Yanjing's voice came from the other side with a relaxed smile.

Shen Liwu tasted one, it was sour and sweet, not to her liking.
