Chapter 16 Why Haven’t I Seen You Feeling Sad for Me? (1/2)

As soon as Shen Liwu opened the door, Zhou Yanjing hurriedly caught up with her, his brows furrowed, his eyes sizing her up and down.

"I heard that you and Zhang Damei fought a wild boar? Were you injured?"

Shen Liwu put down the backpack, patted the dust off her body, and said lightly: "It was just a coincidence, it's no big deal." Her tone was calm, as if the life-and-death struggle she had just experienced was just a common occurrence.

"I'm not injured. Look, I'm fine, right?"

"Do you know how dangerous wild boars are? Don't take risks next time. Don't go into the mountains alone. Wait for me to go with you next time."

Zhou Yanjing's voice was low, with a hint of blame and hidden worry.

He didn't dare to think about such a big pig. What should he do if something happened?

She looked up at him, a faint smile on her lips, "Don't worry, I have a cun."

"You?" Zhou Yanjing's eyes deepened, and the furrows between his brows became more obvious. "If you really have wisdom, you wouldn't go to a place like that alone to dig herbs. Who knows what you might encounter in the deep mountains and old forests? You are not allowed to go, so tell me what you need, and I'll find it for you."

Shen Liwu chuckled and shook his head, "You are very busy, how can you have time to accompany me up the mountain? Besides, I can do it myself."

She turned and walked towards the kitchen, took out the herbs from the basket one by one and placed them on the table, her movements gentle and focused.

Zhou Yanjing followed behind her, his brows still furrowed, "No matter how capable you are, you can't joke about your own safety. If something happens to you, I..."

His words stopped abruptly, his throat rolled, and a complicated look flashed in his eyes.

Shen Liwu stopped what he was doing and turned to look at him, "I know you are worried about me, but I really am not worried this time. I will be careful, don't be angry."

Her voice was gentle, as if she was calming an agitated beast.

Zhou Yanjing looked into her clear eyes, and the anger in his heart gradually subsided, replaced by helplessness and heartache. He sighed, stretched out his hands to hold her in his arms, and rested his chin on the top of her head. "I'm not angry, I'm afraid. I'm afraid that you will leave, afraid that you won't be by my side."

Shen Liwu leaned on his chest, listening to his strong heartbeat, the corners of her mouth slightly raised, "I won't abandon you, don't worry." Her voice was muffled in his arms, with a hint of coquettishness.

Zhou Yanjing tightened his arms, lowered his head and gently kissed her hair, "Promise me that you will never take risks alone again, okay?"

Shen Liwu nodded and replied softly: “Okay.”

Thinking of the pig blood on his body, Shen Liwu pushed Zhou Yanjing away, “I’m dirty, I’ll take a shower first.”

"good."

After Shen Liwu took a shower, the clothes stained with pig blood could no longer be washed, so he stopped washing the clothes and threw them away.

I felt much more comfortable after changing into clean clothes. There was still some herbs in the yard to deal with, so I turned on the faucet and filled a basin with water to wash off the dirt first.

With Zhou Yanjing's help, things went much faster. After they finished washing, the sun was setting. The afterglow spread across the courtyard, dyeing half the sky red.

Shen Liwu bent over, soaked his hands in the cool water, and gently rubbed the roots of the herbs with his fingertips. The mud slowly faded away with the water flow, revealing their original appearance. The roots are slender and soft, like an old man's beard, tangled together in a tangled way.

"These herbs are really rare," Zhou Yanjing stood aside, holding a bucket in his hand, looking at her gently, "How did you find them?"

Shen Liwu raised his head with a faint smile on his face, "Just over the hillside, there is a forest with very fertile soil. I came here just to find some common herbs, but I didn't expect to come across this ginseng and that wild boar."
