Chu Wuyang glanced over and saw a tall, slender figure. He wore a well-tailored, dark-colored suit, with a handsome face, a sharp nose, and an air of noble elegance.
"Xiao Wu, what are you doing here?"
Hearing the sound, Chu Yao turned around, his hand still on the car door, and quickly ended the call. A fleeting, almost imperceptible panic crossed his eyes, quickly replaced by surprise. After asking his question, his gaze shifted to the person behind him, and he suddenly understood.
"You came with Ah Min?"
Chu Yao closed the car door tightly, then pulled it again to make sure it was fully locked, before stepping closer to the two. The reflection from the car windows made it difficult to see inside.
"Xiaowu, I heard from Grandpa yesterday that you were back. Why didn't you call your older brother? I just got back from my business trip last night and rushed over here. Your uncle and aunt are also on vacation. When they get back, let's have a family meal together at home."
"Either is fine," Chu Wuyang said with a smile.
"Big brother, could you give me a ride if you're going that way? Jingmin's going to the company later isn't on his way, and I don't want to hold him up."
She perfectly embodied the qualities of an understanding and devoted wife. Chu Yao met Jing Min's questioning gaze, while the latter displayed a helpless yet doting expression.
From Chu Yao's perspective, the couple is having another minor disagreement, and he needs to do something to prevent the conflict from escalating.
"Sorry, Xiaowu, I picked up some clients from my business trip yesterday, and we didn't drive because there weren't enough seats in the car."
As he spoke, he quickly walked back to his car, glancing at the secluded surroundings before speaking.
"It's hard to get a taxi here, so listen to me, you go to the company with Ah Min first, he'll give you a ride. I have to go now."
After saying that, he opened the car door, quickly started the engine, and drove away.
Before Chu Wuyang could even reply, she stared at the rear of the black Rolls-Royce. Whether it was her imagination or something else, as the car drove away, the light reflected off the window, creating a fleeting illusion of a long-haired woman in the back seat.
"Does your older brother have a girlfriend?"
Jing Min paused, then said, "I don't know."
That's true. He's not a gossipy person; he's boring and indifferent, and wouldn't pay attention to these things unless they're related to her.
"Let's go," he said, already getting into the car first.
Chu Wuyang, who was still standing by the car, took a deep breath and pulled the car door open with considerable force.
Seeing this, the man beside her also smiled slightly.
The journey was quiet and silent.
After parking the car in the underground parking lot, the woman, who had been feigning sleep with her eyes closed, spoke first, "I'll wait for you in the car."
Jing Min stared at her silently for a few seconds, then took a spare blanket from the car, covered her with it, and left without saying a word.
While I was sound asleep, the phone rang urgently.
Chu Wuyang irritably pulled out her phone to answer the call.
"Madam, this is Yan Zhou. An important overseas client just arrived unexpectedly, and the president is meeting with him personally. There's a document in the car; could you please bring it up?"
Chu Wuyang was about to reply that he could just have his secretary come down and get it,
Then a voice came from the other end of the phone.
"I'm so sorry, Madam, the documents are extremely confidential and cannot be handled by anyone you don't trust. I need to be with the CEO at any time and can't leave for too long. I'll call you when I have a moment to pour you some tea. Could you please bring it to the top floor? I'll have my secretary wait for you at the bottom of the stairs. Thank you, Madam."
Yan Zhou launched into a frantic barrage of messages, and Chu Wuyang didn't even have time to interject before the call ended.
It really is...
The assistant I hired was a perfect match for me; she didn't give me any time to refuse. She checked the time and said it would take an hour.
Now not only is it overdue, but I also have to run extra errands. They're breaking their promise!
If she weren't naturally responsible, she wouldn't have cared so much. However, given the current shared interests of the couple, and considering Yan Zhou's attitude, the documents did seem very oppressive. If Jing Min suffered losses because of this, in a sense, it would also be her loss.
After a struggle with his mind,
Chu Wuyang closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and wore a resigned expression.
She glanced at the back seat; the document wrapped in the brown paper bag was clearly there. She opened the car door, took the document, and headed to the elevator, pressing the button for the top floor.
The elevator quickly reached the top floor. As expected, a woman in business attire was waiting for her at the elevator exit.
"Hello, madam, I am your secretary, Li Sa. My assistant asked me to take you to the meeting room. Please follow me." Li Sa's eyes flashed with amazement when she saw Chu Wuyang, but she quickly concealed it.
She has been with the company since its inception, rising from a junior employee to the president's secretary over the years. This success is attributed not only to her exceptional professional skills but also to her remarkable ability to read people and remain calm under pressure.
I only knew that the president was married, but there was absolutely no information about the president's wife online.
I never expected her to be so strikingly beautiful, but her expression was aloof and indifferent, as if she wasn't interested in anything. She clearly wasn't happy.
Recalling the recent scandal involving the CEO and his wife's sister, she had no intention of prying into the secrets of the wealthy family, but she was already aware of the intricate relationships within such families.
On the surface, she remained calm and composed, her demeanor normal.
Upon arriving at the door of the reception room, Li Sa gently knocked, and Yan Zhou immediately opened the door.
It was midday, the sun blazing overhead. A large swath of golden light streamed through the French windows via the crack in the door, almost blindingly so, reflecting off the narrow opening. Many people were vaguely visible against the light, but she immediately spotted the man sitting at the head of the group, his back to the door.
With short, thick black hair, a handsome, long neck, and broad, slender shoulders, he exuded elegance and nobility even while sitting.
"Madam, let Lisa take you to the president's office. There's a lounge there; things here might not be finished anytime soon."
Yan Zhou took the document and suggested in a low voice with an apologetic expression.
Chu Wuyang's beautiful eyes flickered slightly. "It's alright, you guys are busy, don't worry about me."
Yan Zhou glanced at Li Sa, who nodded slightly and closed the door.
"Madam, the president's office is this way," Li Sa reminded Chu Wuyang as she walked straight towards the elevator.
"Thank you for your hard work, you should go back to work," Chu Wuyang politely declined, then walked to the elevator and pressed the down button.
Li Sa wanted to say something more, but the elevator had already arrived. Chu Wuyang went straight in and pressed the close button.
She was completely bewildered, thinking to herself that the elevator wasn't usually this fast.
Assistant Yan had clearly hinted to her to take good care of the president's wife. Having worked together for so long, she couldn't possibly have misunderstood.
As the elevator descended, my phone rang; it was a text message from Jingmin:
"It will probably end in about an hour."
"Sit for a while, there's food in the fridge, and beds in the lounge if you get sleepy."
Chu Wuyang read it expressionlessly. He wasn't usually this long-winded; perhaps he felt guilty for breaking his promise. She wasn't unreasonable; she could prioritize important matters.
She was planning to take a taxi home; she hadn't slept well yesterday.
The headquarters building of Boyifang is located in the city center, with very convenient transportation.
