When it was time to sleep at night, Jingmin finished washing up and saw that the master bedroom was still empty, and his heart sank.
He opened the door and walked straight to the study.
Chu Wuyang was slumped over the table, half asleep. Hearing the noise, she got up but didn't turn around.
Still staring at the pile of unfinished work on the table.
The figure behind him approached silently, the voice stiff and devoid of warmth.
"Aren't you going back to sleep?"
Chu Wuyang didn't even raise her head.
"In a little while."
The air was silent for a few seconds...
Jingmin seemed to be adjusting his mood, his tone softening slightly.
Are you still throwing a tantrum at me?
Chu Wuyang: "..."
He forced himself to suppress his emotions; she had been cold and distant towards him for the past few days.
"It's late, you should go to sleep. Pregnant women shouldn't stay up late."
Chu Wuyang turned around abruptly, her tone sharp.
"Is this what you mean by 'not using children as pawns'? I can't even decide what time I go to bed?"
Jingmin's tone revealed a hint of helplessness.
"Can you please stop being so sensitive? Why should I be suspected of having ulterior motives just because I care about my wife?"
Chu Wuyang coldly said,
"Perhaps this is the reputation you have, Mr. Jing."
Jing Min composed himself.
He walked over and half-squatted down in front of her, reaching out to touch her hand, but pressed it down firmly the moment she pulled away.
"listen to me,"
"Now that we have a child, the three of us will be very happy."
"Are you sure you want to destroy all of this for Yang Jinchu?"
The first dance was accompanied by a cold, clear voice.
"You're the one who made a mistake, and instead of reflecting on it, you're trying to shift the blame?"
Jing Min paused, his expression turning serious, and then spoke earnestly.
"Are you still angry because I played matchmaker for Yang Jinchu?"
He couldn't think of any other reason besides this.
She hasn't gone to work these past few days, so the bodyguards who were following her have naturally left.
He complied with all her requests, he was seeing a psychologist, the Wen family provided adequate compensation, and the crisis was resolved.
Yang Jinchu suffered no loss at all—what else could she possibly want to cause trouble for?
Chu Wuyang looked at him with a gaze that seemed to genuinely fail to understand him.
"Don't you think you did anything wrong at all?"
Jing Min's face darkened.
She didn't answer, but instead asked him a question in return? He really couldn't stand even the slightest bit of her emotion towards Yang Jinchu.
His expression instantly turned cold; he slowly stood up, his tone firm.
I did nothing wrong!
He chuckled, his tone laced with sarcasm.
"You're angry, so I'll send him women. Don't forget, I learned that from him."
“Yang Jinchu did such a despicable thing many years ago, I’m just following his example.”
"If we're talking about immorality, he's a senior figure."
"Bring Yunyang to my side while she's unconscious and under the influence of traditional Chinese medicine, a substitution."
"Then I took advantage of the situation—if I hadn't been so capable and managed to snatch you back from the jaws of death, Yang Jinchu would have succeeded."
Chu Wuyang looked at him, remaining silent.
He is clearly making unfounded claims.
Yang Jinchu's original intention was to save him, although it was wrong to have ulterior motives as well;
But the most serious problem is that Jingmin himself is blind—Yunyang has character issues, yet he kept him by his side, pampering him with good food and drink for so many years.
If he hadn't personally nurtured her, where would she have gotten the audacity to be so arrogant in front of him?
Thinking about this, Chu Wuyang felt disgusted.
"Get out! Close the door behind you."
Jingmin stood still.
His tone finally softened.
"I have no way to back down on this matter concerning Yang Jinchu."
"If you promise not to see him again, then he's a stranger to me, and I don't want to care about his life or death anymore."
“As long as you don’t contact him, I can lift the surveillance on you and the people around you.”
"However, the location tracking on the phone cannot be removed."
“I may not know what you did or who you met, but I must know your location.”
"Otherwise, I can't help but overthink... I don't even know if I'll do anything outrageous."
———
Chu Wuyang sat in her office, her phone ringing non-stop all morning. Finally, she answered it impatiently.
"Jingmin, don't you have anything to do?"
Jingmin's tone on the other end was relatively calm.
"I'm busy with something, I just wanted to check on you."
"I noticed your location hasn't changed. I was worried something might have happened to you."
Chu Wuyang raised a hand and pressed it to his temple, his tone becoming increasingly irritable.
"I have things to do, so of course I won't move while sitting in my designated spot."
"That won't do,"
Jingmin replied confidently.
"You are pregnant now, so you can't sit for long periods of time. You need to move around more."
Chu Wuyang couldn't help but roll her eyes.
I'll be going out this afternoon.
There was a sudden silence on the other end of the phone. After a few seconds, a low voice asked...
"Where are you going? With whom? What are you doing? How long are you staying? When are you coming back? Do you want me to pick you up?"
Wu Yang could no longer tolerate it.
Are you genuinely concerned about me, or are you just checking up on me?
The person on the other end of the phone froze for a few seconds.
Chu Wuyang stared at the screen, then suddenly paused, and said in an annoyed tone,
"How about... you go and bring those bodyguards back?"
"Really?"
Jing Min's tone instantly became serious, as if he had received a pardon.
Chu Wuyang leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes briefly, her tone helpless.
"Although it's annoying, at least they don't call every hour."
She paused, then sighed.
"Now that I think about it, at least they were quieter."
Jingmin sensed the frustration in her tone and dared not say anything more.
After a moment of silence,
He whispered,
"Okay, I have to go to a meeting now, I won't have time to call you again later."
Before she could respond, the phone went dead with a single beep.
