"Thank you so much... This is my first time in China, and I'm not familiar with the traffic rules. I went the wrong way shortly after getting off the bus and ended up stuck in the middle of the road. Thank goodness you helped me..."
"Is this your first time here?"
Chu Wuyang couldn't help but smile.
"Didn't your husband spend a long time in China? How could he let you come alone? Did you get separated from him?"
Upon hearing this, a hint of embarrassment appeared on the woman's face, as if her secret had been gently touched.
"...He didn't get separated from me; he doesn't even know I'm here yet."
"Um?"
Chu Wuyang raised an eyebrow.
"His grandmother passed away, and he came back for the funeral."
The woman said in a low voice
"I... want to give him a surprise."
At this point, the woman frowned slightly, and her tone became somewhat dissatisfied.
“He said I didn’t need to come, but I thought… at a time like this, he should have someone by his side, right? His grandmother is his only relative in China.”
She paused, her gaze fixed on the rain-dappled scenery outside the car window, and her voice lowered.
"But he's the kind of person who keeps everything to himself and never says anything."
"I can only guess. I guess he didn't want me to travel such a long way, or maybe... my family is superstitious about this kind of funeral, so he didn't want me to come."
She looked at Chu Wuyang, her eyes serious and stubborn.
"How could I not come? Even if my father and the others find out, I still have to come."
"I want to stay by his side, even if he doesn't say a word, I want to get through this difficult time with him."
Chu Wuyang nodded, suddenly feeling a bit more appreciation for this woman. These days, there are very few women willing to do this much for a man.
"With a wife like you, your husband is such a straight man."
She smiled, turned her head, and asked,
"Where is he now? Shall I take you to find him?"
The woman gently shook her head.
"I originally planned to find a place to settle down first and then contact his assistant, but... I overestimated myself and didn't even know how to cross the street."
Upon hearing this, Chu Wuyang couldn't help but glance at the time; she still had time to get what she needed to do.
She turned the steering wheel.
Okay, if you're going to help someone, then help them all the way.
"Why don't you just call your husband now and have him come pick you up? It'll save you from wandering around alone and getting into trouble. Even if you don't appear directly in front of him, it'll still be a surprise, right?"
The woman chuckled softly and nodded.
"you're right."
She picked up her phone and dialed a number.
The phone rang for quite a while before it was finally answered.
The woman's voice was gentle and cautious.
"It's me, I'm in China."
There seemed to be a few seconds of silence on the other end before they spoke.
The woman paused, then subconsciously repeated the man's words.
Where?
Chu Wuyang reacted quickly, pointing to a coffee shop by the roadside. The woman immediately understood and told him what happened.
The person on the other end hung up quickly upon hearing the answer, their tone curt and somewhat cold.
The woman was somewhat disappointed.
He didn't seem very happy.
Chu Wuyang comforted her.
"Perhaps I'm just too worried about you; it's because I love you so much that I'm so critical!"
Seeing the woman's still somewhat bewildered expression, she explained,
"I'm just too worried about you, afraid something might happen to you, and I'm holding back from scolding you, but it's actually a sign that I care about you."
The woman's eyes sparkled.
"Really?"
Chu Wuyang nodded. "I'll accompany you to the coffee shop to wait for your husband."
She really seems like she doesn't know anything, yet she's so beautiful. Someone like that is bound to cause problems.
